Kang Saebyeok always made promises which she couldn't keep, no matter how hard she tried, but this time the lives of her loved ones depended on them.
The first one made to her brother; that she'd get him out of the orphanage and their whole family would be together again. The second made to a girl she met in a life or death contest; that she'd protect her.
And ultimately, the third one she made to herself--that she'd keep the two previous ones.
She figured soon later that one way or another, at the end of it all, she'd likely be dead. But she did it anyway.
