Summary
Sionah Bryd sits just beyond the banks of Doineach Uisge and holds the Demon, who less than 24 hours ago she’d called her son, in her lap.
The Demon — barely thirteen months old — plastered himself to her chest during the taxing hike here. Now, though, he observes his new environment with a shrewd and discerning intelligence in baby blue eyes.
Miles away, in both mind and spirit, Sionah watches him and she aches.

Summary
“The fuck are you doing?” Kris hisses, fingers reaching out to latch at you before you could pull away. It’s the first time you’ve heard Kris swore. They must be really angry. Like Dad. “What are you, a child?”
At least there's no sign of anything like the hockey stick reappearing.
And hey, you're really mature for being eight! Not a child anymore, if you really thought about it. Just two more years and you’ll be in the double digits like an adult. Like Kris! But you didn’t want to lie to Kris. So you tuck away your complaints and pulse red in agreement.
In which the Soul is a child, and Kris finds out after it tries to comfort them at the end of Chapter Four.
