Will’s brain was spinning a million miles a minute and he felt like he was about to throw up.
And maybe it’s the anger or bitterness towards Mike that’s he’s feeling or just his curiosity getting the best of him even when it will only hurt him in the end or the deadly words repeating in his head that prompt him to break the comfortable silence they were in to say, “Did you mean it…what you told El, did you mean it?”

A few weeks after the Cali crew made it back to Hawkins from Lenora, Will gets mad at Mike about what he said to El in the surfer boy pizza

Summary
So that’s why when Mike is accusing him of being the reason behind everything that has happened since he left Hawkins, he doesn't lash out and scream like he wants to or cry or run away. He stands his ground and just tries to talk with Mike.
Like that ever gets him far.
And once again it seemed to make everything worse because Mike just said “whatever man” and walked away like Will was just an afterthought and not his best friend of 10 years. Just like he does every fucking time it’s just the two of them in the same room for the last year.

My take on what I think/would have wanted to happen if Mike, Will and El had a semi normal spring break (aka: the upside down wasn't a problem). But is anything ever normal?
Mike finds out a thing or two about himself, El becomes an independent queen and Will finally gets the happiness he deserves

Summary
Dustin’s voice breaks him out of his thoughts as he hears the familiar voice ask, “Can I borrow your walkman, mine isn’t working and I can’t find Will.” At the sound of his own name his heart rate has risen slightly and his breath hitches as he becomes all too aware of his own body movements.
Will can almost see Mike’s eyes widening and his eyes darting around the room at the mention of his boyfriend.
To his relief he hears his boyfriend respond quickly and his heart beat slows (only slightly) “Yeah. yeah, um-” He can hear the ruffling of the sheets as he stands up and walks towards his desk.
Or
Will has to hide in a closet to avoid getting caught kissing his secret boyfriend/best friend.
