Chapter Text
Iwaizumi sighed. Oikawa had been at it for almost an hour now, and for what? A simple pack of chocolate chip cookies Iwaizumi had bought but accidentally dropped on his way home to the store. This was the fourth time Oikawa walked their usual route to the store and had not looked up once. Iwaizumi was, for some reason, still following him.
"Iwa-chan," Oikawa said in what sounded suspiciously like a whine. "Iwa-chan, please try to work your small brain. Where did you drop it?"
Iwaizumi resisted the urge to smack his head and shrugged. "How would I know? If I realized I dropped it somewhere I'd have picked it up."
Oikawa sighed dramatically, placing his hands on his hips. "I told you your brain is pea-sized."
This time Iwaizumi did smack Oikawa's head, emitting a loud yelp from the other man.
They'd only just moved in together, having decided to go to the same university anyway at the last moment. Oikawa would most probably not survive university on his own, and Iwaizumi (though he hated to admit it and would never admit it to Oikawa) was bad at making friends. Oikawa had pointed out often enough his face was scary and stuff.
Of course, many other boys had admired him because of his physical skills, but no one had really talked to him like a good friend would've. He was too intimidating, if he had to believe Oikawa. "But I'm not scared of you, Iwa-chan!" he had immediately added.
In Iwaizumi's defense, Oikawa was probably scarier than him to the other guys, with his pretty face and dangerous smile and all.
When Oikawa was about to walk back to their apartment after which he was most likely going to want to walk back to the store again, Iwaizumi decided it was enough.
"Shittykawa, we are not going back without new cookies and you're going to stop whining right now. We're buying new cookies and then we're going home!"
A pout grew on Oikawa's face and he was about to open his mouth, but Iwaizumi grabbed his arm and pulled him along before he could say anything.
"No time for whining," Iwaizumi said curtly, wasting no time in grabbing a new packet of chocolate chip cookies and paying for it. By the time they were almost home, Oikawa was still pouting.
"Damn you, Crappykawa. What's the problem now?"
"Those... those cookies are just wasted now!" Oikawa called out, actually sounding upset. "They were born with a purpose and you ruined it, Iwa-chan!"
Iwaizumi sighed and opened the door to their apartment. "But we have new cookies now, okay? You can let those serve their purpose now."
"It's entirely different, Iwa-chan. You brute!"
Iwaizumi chose to just ignore Oikawa as he continued to blabber absolute nonsense about the cookies.
Oikawa was a lot smarter than people thought he was (probably because of his pretty face and stupid attitude) but at moments like this, even Iwaizumi questioned his boyfriends sanity. It was moments like this that made Iwaizumi question his own sanity, for still following Oikawa anywhere.
When Iwaizumi walked back into the living room, he was reminded by the answer to that last question.
Oikawa was sat on their dinner table, curled up in a little ball, glaring at Iwaizumi and munching on his new cookies while mentioning for him to come closer.
Yeah, that's right. Iwaizumi's question was answered.
"C'mere Iwa-chan, give me cuddles," Oikawa said with a sweet, genuine smile.
Iwaizumi smiled back. Yeah, living with him was a riot. Oikawa was messy and clingy, but Iwaizumi still loved Oikawa more than anything. That was enough of an explanation to him.
