Work Text:

Seokjin was a good kid, never got into fights, never was rambunctious, never got into much trouble or got hurt. So why was he always littered with bruises? He lived in a good household, really. Everyday that Seokjin came home from school in his younger years, his mother would look at his bruised knees and smile, thinking he was just being a kid. Then as Seokjin got older, he continued to get more and more bruises, bigger and darker, some scrapes on his arms and knees, but honestly Seokjin was just studying in the library! After he started spending days at home and still getting the marks under his mother’s watch, she began to understand it. The same reason, or close to it, as to why she has such marks growing up.

-

Yoongi loved the outdoors. If he wasn’t forced to be inside, he was always outdoors. IT started at the playground in his early years, always falling off of the play equipment, scraping his knees with a big smile and then getting right back up again. The older he got the more banged up he looked. It started with climbing everything and anything If you told Min Yoongi he couldn’t climb something, he would find a way to prove you wrong. Then he got his first skateboard, Yoongi started to think that the inanimate object was his soulmate with how often he was on it. The summer time was filled with Yoongi and his two friends, Taehyung and Hoseok, sporting matching hickeys and scraped knees, riding around their town’s skate park and spending the day there. Learning new tricks, laughing when one would fall, Yoongi turning away in (half) disgust as Taehyung and Hoseok would make out on top of the half pipe (the other half was slight jealousy that they had already found each other, and so early in their lives too.)

Yoongi stood up and grabbed his board dropping it onto the ground and keeping a foot on it.

“Yo, love birds. I’m gonna take a ride so don’t wait up, same time tomorrow?”

He got a thumbs up and smile from Taehyung before he was pulled into another kiss. Yoongi let out a half assed chuckle and pushed off his board to make his way to the nearby cafe.

-

Jin sat down with his coffee and laptop by the window, the sun would be setting soon and he wasn’t going to get any sleep till his paper was turned in. Why did Namjoon let him take a summer course?

“Kim Seokjin you shouldn’t have waited so long to write this…” He mumbled grumpily to himself as he opened up his laptop.

“No no please don’t update!” He signed and placed his head in his hands. Deciding he had nothing else to do he turned his head to look at the people walking outside the shop.

All these couples look so happy… and then there’s my soulmate…

The brunet takes a look down at his arm which has recently gained a few new scrapes.

It’s like they beat themselves up for fun! How could I ever get along with some crazy person!

He looks back up just in time to see a boy with blueish hair ride past alarmingly fast on a skateboard. Black ripped jeans showing a few bruises on his shins, black sneakers and a tattered band shirt, he looked like a total punk kid who liked to break rules. Then he fell.

-

Yoongi had his eyes on the approaching coffee shop, looking through the window he saw that it wasn’t entirely too crowded. He also laid his eyes on by far the prettiest guy he has ever seen. And then he proceeded to not notice a dip in the ground and was launched off his skateboard. Good job Yoongi, making yourself look real cool. He quickly pulled himself up and grabbed his board, instead of looking for new injuries he looked to the cutie boy in the window. Said boy looked extremely concerned for him, his eyes blown wide and laced with concern and… he was blushing? Yoongi looked down at his arms, only a new bruise by his elbow, he’d be fine. He grabbed onto his board and decided he would get coffee some other time, when he was less embarrassed. He dropped his skateboard, waved quickly to the cute boy, and pushed off as fast as he could.

-

Seokjin sat there, eyes wide and curious, looking at the poor blue-haired boy who had just crash landed in front of him. The boy quickly stood up, a new bruise apparent on his elbow and his face seemed scraped up but… he was looking directly at Seokjin. Seokjin blushed a bit at being caught but didn’t look away, and continued to follow the small boy as he road away quickly. Slowly, Seokjin looked back to his laptop which has finished its update. He rested his elbows on the table only to flinch when the left one made contact. Confused, he pulled up his sleeve only to reveal a bruise matching that of the one he just watched the skateboard guy receive.

Oh my god…

-

“You mean to tell me that you of all people fell on flat road because of a boy ? You ate shit and you plan on seducing him?” it was the day after the incident and Taehyung was laughing in Yoongi’s face after he had explained to his, currently very shitty, friends how he fucked up his face a bit and wore a new bruise in an awkward spot of his arm.

“Dude you should never ride through there even again, you took a ride of shame and no one should ever return to that spot.” Hoseok chuckled, his arm thrown around Taehyung as the two sat on a bench. Yoongi shrugged.

“I’ve got some shit to do at home for once so.. I’ll catch you guys tonight?” Both boys snort, knowing very well Yoongi had nothing to do, but nodded anyways. It was Friday, and Friday meant nighttime skating.

-

Seokjin found himself today in the same spot as yesterday, with a coffee in his hands and a laptop taking a shit in front of him. But he was certainly not looking hoping for the blue-haired boy to skate past the shop again. No he was here for school work. Or at least... that’s what he told Namjoon before he left their apartment. He just smirked, nodded slowly, and looked back down to his book.

So Seokjin took a sip of his coffee and stared out the window, hoping for the cute, small skater to show up, hopefully not fall, and maybe come inside (though that was a stretch considering they had barely waved to each other.) Eyes following people, Seokjin caught sight of his (hopefully) soulmate. And he looked right back at Seokjin, halted his movement, and gave him the softest smile Seokjin is sure he has ever seen. Seokjin waved hesitantly, then beckoned him to come inside, to which he received a small not. Cute.

-

Yoongi saw him, the cute boy, plush lips and small smile and the broadest shoulders he has ever seen, and he knew he had to talk to him. Even if they weren’t soulmates. He halted his board and briefly considered turning around, remembering yesterdays events. But when the boy motioned for him to come inside, he suddenly couldn’t find a reason to say no. Okay there was the fact that he could be some serial murderer but that’s not important. He tended to throw a lot of logic to the wind, and now was no exception. So Yoongi kicked up his board and walked inside. He immediately walked over and sat down, not even bothering to ask if he could sit.

“You watched me fall on my face yesterday.” He's not even sure why he blurted that out, but he did and now he was red in the face. The boy, he really should get a name, laughed at the statement and sighed.

“Yeah I did, are you alright by the way?” Yoongi nodded.

“I'm Yoongi… you have a cut on your face like mine…” He couldn't notice the cut from between the window but now that he was up close he could see it clear as day.

“I'm Seokjin. You're the asshole who's been littering my body with bruises huh?” Seokjin quirked an eyebrow and rolled up his sleeves, arms littered with bruises, fresh and fading, that matched Yoongi's perfectly. Yoongi looked down in disbelief.

“So… you're my soulmate..? Be glad you didn't get my broken arm from 5th grade! Wait.. why didn't I get any mysterious marks from you?”

“Oh you did. But you were too busy being covered in bruises and cuts that you wouldn't have noticed. I however didn't appreciate waking up with all of these,” he gestures to his arms, “battle wounds… at first..” Seokjin mumbles the last part and blushes ever so slightly.

“You're so cute oh my god… do you want to come night skating with me and some friends?” Yoongi was far too excited to care what he let fall out of his mouth, which was pulled into a grin. Seokjin thought it over quickly before nodding, and Yoongi almost squeals right there.

-

The pair spend the next few hours in the café, Yoongi eventually got up long enough to get himself coffee, talking about themselves and learning about each other. Seokjin's laptop completely forgotten and Yoongi’s board resting against the table. It slowly grew dark out and Yoongi got a text from Hoseok letting him know they would be at the park soon.

“You wanna head to the skate park?” Yoongi picked up his board and looked to Seokjin, who nodded and stood. They grabbed their stuff, stepped outside and Yoongi grabbed Seokjin's hand, lacing their fingers and leading him to the park.

-

When they arrived Yoongi heard Taehyung and Hoseok wolf whistle at them and Jeongguk yell.

“Holy shit Namjoon hyung! Jimin hyung! Come look at this!” Seokjin was confused enough to see Jeongguk, let alone hear his roommate's name and Jimin’s name.

“Wait a minute… Namjoon this is where you go Friday nights?!” Seokjin looked at the addressed man as Namjoon came out from behind a half pipe, accusing look on Seokjin's face. Jimin hurried behind Jeongguk and hugged him from behind, grinning. Namjoon tried to hide behind the two.

“You can't use your boyfriends as a shield hyung!” Taehyung laughed and leaned against Hoseok.

“So is anyone gonna tell us why you're holding hands?” Jimin questioned. Yoongi grinned and pulled a slightly bashful Seokjin closer.

“Soulmates.” He stated proudly, and everyone began cheering loudly.
