Chapter Text
Jeongguk was standing in the streets of Seoul, alone, and he was scared. That was an understatement, he was terrified.
Jeon Jeongguk, a teenager with looks that could make any woman weak and dance talent that could rival some of the best. His dance talent is precisely why he stands outside of one of the best dance studios in Seoul, South Korea. His anxiousness is why he has yet to step inside. He’s still young, not even completely done with highschool yet, but he was told he should audition today because the company hardly held events like this. Jeongguk was more of a modern style dancer and this studio just so happened to be looking for modern dancers to recruit. However, he’s seen so many people walking in and he is almost positive he would never make it in…
“Hey kid! You just gonna oogle at the building all day? Are you waiting on someone?” a voice next to Jeongguk sounded, he jumped and almost dropped his phone. (Not that it really mattered at that point, he had shattered it months ago anyways.) Quickly Jeongguk looked around and spotted a man roughly his height, however less built and more lean, with a smile so bright he could have been the sun. Jeongguk was almost a bit jealous of whoever shared the half hidden hickey that peeked out from under the collar of the man's shirt, the guy was quite attractive.
“U-uh.. no.. no I'm here to audition. I think…” Jeongguk stuttered out.
The man, he should really get a name, chuckled a bit at Jeongguk.
“Nervous? Ah, modern dancers are so cute... But you have nothing to worry about, there is like maybe ten people auditioning.” The man grinned.
Ten people? But he had seen so many go in and out and… oh… this is a dance studio… of course people would be in and out of it.
“C’mon I'll walk you in! The name is Hoseok by the way!” the guy, Hoseok, said as he grabbed Jeongguk’s wrist and pulled him inside. Jeongguk had no time to react so he let himself be tugged and stuttered out his name to Hoseok.
------
The auditions were surprisingly a lot less terrifying than Jeongguk had assumed, and it even turned out that Hoseok was one of the instructors for the audition so Jeongguk was a bit more at ease. However there were still some really great people auditioning, and he was positive he wouldn't be accepted.
“Alright!” Hoseok clasped his hands together as he stood at the front of all the dancers, “Thank you all for putting in your time today! We will of course have to discuss everything over but we will be sending out emails in the next few days so keep your notifications on!” Hoseok grinned wider than the sea. Everyone broke apart from their small group and gathered their stuff. Jeongguk grabbed his water bottle and bag and quickly headed out the door, not wishing to socialize anymore than he needed to. He stood in the hall of studios and downed half his water, looking around at the studio signs. Noticing one was marked ‘Practice Studio’ and that the lights were on so someone was inside it, he decided to take a look. When he reached the door he could see a guy in there, dancing in a modernized ballet style and Jeongguk was intrigued to say the least. The way the guy, who seemed admittedly shorter than him, moved and let his body flow was amazing. His body was that of a dancer no doubt, toned thighs and, from what Jeongguk could see when the guy moved just right, toned stomach. He had baby pink hair and he was the definition of cute. Jeongguk had to step inside, so he did just that. Except slowly and quietly as to not disturb.
Upon entering, Jeongguk could hear music playing but nothing extremely loud, yet the boy dancing looked completely engrossed in the music. It was stunning. Then the boy caught sight of Jeongguk in the middle of an arabesque, freaked out a bit, and fell over and onto his arm.
“Shit! Who the hell are you?” the guy on the floor looked at Jeongguk.
“Oh god are you okay!?” Jeongguk set his stuff down and hurried over to the boy, “I'm so sorry if I scared you! I was watching you dance a bit through the window and wanted to get a better view. Oh god that sounds weird I'm so sorry uhm..” Jeongguk could feel his cheeks start to flush a bit with color. The boy on the for sat up a bit and rubbed the elbow of the arm he landed on.
“Shit… that's okay I mean.. you maybe could have knocked first.. but I appreciate your curiosity I guess?” He smiled a bit, Jeongguk thought it was cuter than Hoseok's.
“Uh… I'm Jeongguk… Jeon Jeongguk. Is your arm alright?” Jeongguk stood up and offered his hand to the floor boy.
“Park Jimin, and yeah, just might be bruised a bit” Jimin took his hand and stood up, “thanks.”
Jimin twisted his arm at an awkward angle and there was already a visible dark spot. He shrugged.
“You're a really good dancer…” Jeongguk mumbled to him.
“Thanks… I'm not sure I've seen you around before. You audition today?”
Jeongguk nodded, Jimin smiled.
“I hope you get in! You seem nice and it would be cool to see you around!”
“Thanks… I'm not so sure though. I was really nervous in the beginning..”
“Aw don't say that! Hey.. you have anywhere to be, Kookie?” Kookie? No one's ever called him Kookie… but he couldn't say he hated it. Jeongguk shook his head. Jimin invited him to dance.
--------
The boys had spent a few hours in the studio, becoming friends and dancing together. Jeongguk had learned that Jimin was in the Ballet program of the dance studio, and he was the embodiment of talent. He also learned that, like himself, Jimin was born in Busan, except he was first and Jeongguk was second. Jimin also doesn't like being teased about his height, Jeongguk thinks that's cute.
After a few hours, Jimin lets himself stop and drop to the floor, smiling the whole time. He looked over to Jeongguk, just as Jeongguk was running a hand through his hair, and noticed a dark bruise had started to take home on his elbow.
“Hey Kookie… did you.. hit your arm at all during our dancing?” Jimin sat up.
“No why?” Jeongguk began looking at his arms till he saw the mark, in the same spot Jimin had received his only a few hours ago. Jeongguk dropped to his knees and moved towards Jimin.
“Holy shit… we're.. soulmates..? Wait do you have any other marks?” Jimin questioned quickly searching his body.
“There are the cuts on my thighs…” Jeongguk mumbled, “Jimin… you're a wonderful person why do you hurt yourself like that?” his voice almost a whisper then.
“What? What do you mean… I thought you were cutting yourself..?”
“No… that wasn't me… but you have them too? What about on your knee, from where I fell off my skateboard last week?” Jeongguk lifted his pant leg up a little and Jimin did the same, revealing matching marks.
“So… we have another soulmate?” Jimin looked at Jeongguk who shrugged.
“I guess so.”
