Hello, Stranger.

Chapter Text

Walking into his house after the most exhausting weekend of his life felt so good, Dean thought as he threw his duffel bag into a corner and called out for Sam.
“Dude, Sammy? You home?” he called, flipping on lights as he made his way into the house. “It’s not even 9 yet, if you’re in bed I’m gonna make so much fun of you.”
“In here, man!” was the response. Dean followed the voice into their dining room, where Sam was at the table with piles and piles of paperwork, looking frazzled.
“This is quite the welcome home, not gonna lie. What exactly are you up to?” Dean asked, raising an eyebrow.
“My SATs are in two weeks, and I’m trying to burn through as many practice tests as possible,” Sam sighed. “My brain is melting.”
Dean laughed and clapped his little brother’s shoulder. “You’re gonna crush it, man, don’t burn yourself out. Cool if Cas comes over?”
Sam nodded and waved Dean out of the room. Dean was still chuckling as he texted his boyfriend that he was home safely and that front door would be unlocked if he wanted to come over. Cas responded with a string of heart emojis, which Dean took to mean he was on his way. Dean made his way into his bedroom and collapsed on the bed, not fully realizing just how exhausted he was. He woke up around 5 am the next morning to Castiel asleep next to him, attached to Dean like a koala. Dean smiled and kissed his boyfriend’s forehead, before repositioning them both to pull Cas closer to him. He fell right back to sleep before Cas’s alarm woke them up the next morning. Cas grumbled as he untangled himself from Dean.
“Good morning, handsome,” Cas smiled. “Coffee?”
Dean laughed and nodded, pulling them both out of bed and leading them to the kitchen. He started the coffee, as Sam stumbled into the kitchen to join them.
“Morning, you two,” Sam sighed, eyes barely open.
“Morning, sleepy head. Coffee’ll be ready in a few,” Dean replied, as he started pulling out breakfast supplies.
“I missed you, bro.” Sam sighed, eliciting laughs from Dean and Cas. Dean poured out coffee for the trio as he kept an eye on the bacon frying in the pan. “Cas, i keep meaning to ask, when are you going to commit to a school? They’ve gotta be putting major pressure on you to sign, right?” Sam asked between sips.
Cas nodded, twisting his mug in his hands. “Yeah they all call a couple times a week asking. I know I need to pick soon, it’s just so much to consider.”
“I mean, it’s gotta be BC right? They’re a top program, I know you loved the campus when you visited. You’d love living in Boston. I just think it’s a no brainer,” Dean said as he gave the bacon one last flip. Cas shrugged, taking another sip. Dean filled up three plates, and Sam took his into his room announcing his need to study a little more before they left for school.
“You wanna talk about why you haven’t committed to BC yet?” Dean asked, taking a bite of his breakfast.
“Chew with your mouth closed,” scolded Cas, teaching to wipe a crumb from Dean’s cheek. “Honestly, I don’t know what’s holding me back. You’re absolutely right that they’re the best choice, and I loved the school. I don’t know,” he said, shaking his head.
“So call em,” Dean said, reaching across the counter and handing Cas his phone. “Call em right now and commit. Why not?”
Cas took the phone and considered it for a minute, before unlocking it and dialing the number for the soccer office. “Hello? This is Castiel Novak. Yes. I’m good, how are you? Good, good. I’m calling to officially accept your offer. Yeah! Yes, sir. Yes. Thank you so much. I look forward to it as well. Thank you. Bye.” Cas ended the call and looked up at Dean with a giant smile on his face. “That felt so good to do. I’m going to BC!” Cas was ecstatic, and Dean reached across the counter to give his boyfriend a kiss.
“Guess I gotta buy some BC gear, huh? I need me a Novak jersey,” Dean teased, making Cas’s grin even bigger.
