Summary
'The Reluctant Bride' is a romance set after the war for Westeros has been won. Seven years have passed and, along with everyone else, Arya, Daenerys and Sansa must build a new future. Marriage will be part of that, whether they want it or not. This is a story about how they each find love and sisterhood after the war. Arya is first as 'The Reluctant Bride', Daenerys will be 'The Stolen Bride' and Sansa the 'Trophy Bride'. All of their tales are intertwined. I aim to post a chapter every second friday and, above all, I want to entertain and maybe even make you squeal!

Antirec - mixed emotions. Started off with a great scenario, but got unintentionally creepier &dubcon as it went on. The plot outside the relationship dynamics was kind of great, I liked the politics etc, effects of the war, Gendry becoming a general essentially. But where it got weird was, it's not a, I accept you for who you are romance, but instead a, the whole universe will conspire to Stockholm Syndrome Arya, who is theoretically still an assassin but has a Gendry who theoretically fell in love with her but doesn't want her to do it at all, and she will compromise on everything, while he compromises on... nothing?
At one point I genuinely thought it seemed to be setting up the Arthurian legend where Sir Gawain goes on a quest to find out what women want? Because she's being woo'd and isn't motivated to marry by politics, having babies, him being a 'steadfast man', or even sex, but instead of the answer being 'Sovreignty' ie being able to choose her life for herself like in the Arthurian legend, the next character's attempt was "another guy will threaten to marry you against your will if you don't".
I was more than half way through and Gendry wasn't having to compromise on anything, and... yeah, wasn't clear why he was hot on a warrior woman but didn't want a warrior who would actually go into battle, or climb on a roof etc.
I've realised what it reminds me of, is those abo Omega fics, where you have an independent omega, and in some you have an alpha character who 'loves them for who they are' but this was more like the ones where the omega character is just slowly broken down. -
