Work Text:
There are moments where Taehyung realizes he isn’t doing this teenage thing right. Which must be the lowest life crisis ever because how hard is it really to act and behave and breathe like a teenager? But as he looks at his desk filled with anime figurines, his Spiderman bed sheets, his collection of cartoon socks, and the fact that the only playlist he has in his Spotify account is of all the Disney songs, maybe just maybe he really is doing this wrong.
He kicks off his red worn out sneakers and falls to his bed. The glow-in-the-dark stars are still stuck up on the ceiling of his room. He reminisces of the day he and his mother put them up, a whole hour of just giggling because they couldn’t even reach the ceiling properly. His stomach churn uncomfortably at the memory and his eyes start to turn misty. That was so long ago. The stars don’t glow as much anymore.
The thought of his late mother makes him feel more alone than he already is. Suddenly the night is colder and emptier.
Then an idea pops up in his head.
He quickly scrambles to his bag and takes out a lighter. He snaps it and a tiny flame easily lights up. He closes his eyes, not knowing why his heart is beating so fast when it has worked every time. With slight hesitance, he finally blows.
A book drops from the middle of the room.
Taehyung’s head snaps towards the noise and a huge grin spreads across his face. “Ahjussi!”
The man standing standing before him, wearing the usual dark turtleneck sweater and hair waxed to the side to reveal such intense eyes, scowls at him. “I told you to stop calling me that.”
Taehyung rushes off his bed and basically throws his entire body to the older man with his arms and legs wrapped tightly around him. “Ahjussi! Can you do that again? It’s so cool when you do that! I’ll never get over how cool it is!”
The elder continues to frown yet his arms still hold on to Taehyung, worried he might fall. “If you call me hyung, I’ll think about it.”
Taehyung pulls away slightly, enough to be able to look face to face with the man but still very much attached. He scrunches up his eyebrows together in pretend wonder. “Jeongkook-hyung? Hmm… nah. Doesn’t fit with the wrinkles.”
“I could just drop you, you know?”
“But you won’t,” Taehyung grins at him innocently and bops Jeongkook’s nose he’s incredibly fond of.
He jumps off anyway when he finds the book that the elder had dropped when he appeared. He picks it up with curious gleaming eyes. “Poetry?” He mumbles. Then a smirk grows as he looks back up at Jeongkook who is currently finding his Big Bang posters so interesting that he’s avoiding his glance. “Have I turned you into a sap, Mr. Jeon?”
Jeongkook coughs awkwardly, still not looking directly at Taehyung. “Can’t a guy read poetry without being judged?”
“He can if it weren’t about first loves,” Taehyung says, still smug. “Have you found your first love, ahjussi?”
Jeongkook snatches back the book and hides it behind his back. “Why? Do you think it’s you?” He snaps, obviously defensive.
“Yes, I do think it’s me. I’m quite irresistible am I not?” Taehyung brings up both his hands to place under his chin and bats his eyelashes.
Jeongkook scoffs again. “Narcissistic, too.”
Taehyung mock gasps. “You take that back!”
“Make me!”
“Maybe I’ll just find a boyfriend of my own then! A college student! Handsome and tall and--”
His rant is cut off with a soft press of lips on his cheek.
He blinks dumbly with wide eyes, a deep pink flush blooming on his face. Jeongkook smiles that small one with a single dimple that makes him fall all over again for the man.
“Don’t you dare.”
Taehyung is definitely unlike any other teenager. After all, not any teen out there could be the Goblin’s Husband.
