Work Text:
This is a story about two duos, one from Busan, the other from Daegu. Four guys brought to the same appartment a little by chance, a little by fate.
This is not why they stayed together though.
“Okay, I know it's a little over the budget we discussed, but I have a feeling you'll really like this place. I hope so at least, because I'm starting to run out of ideas.”
Yoongi arched his eyebrow at the real-estate agent's statement. Had they been that difficult for him to break the usual politeness and profesionnalism towards customers ? To be fair, this was probably the hundredth appartment he showed them, every others having been rejected for the most insignificant detail. Therefore, the young man couldn't hold it against the poor guy. Human patience wasn't endless. He himself was starting to get more and more fed up with all of that.
They arrived in front of the building, an old one with faded-red bricks in a small street. There were several small food shops around, as well as other buildings and a laundromat. The one they stopped by was one of the tallest. This was far from the nicest district of Seoul, but it had its own charm.
“The appartment is on the 4th floor, out of six. Not too low, not to high, but not right in the middle. There is an elevator, but unfortunately it is out of order, so we'll take the stairs. Is that okay ?”
The real-estate glanced worridly at the explanation for all this bullshit, but Taehyung just laughed softly and clapped his hands. Yoongi was sure he could see the threats currently passing by in the guy's head. Everything he just said had already been a reason to reject a place at least once.
Tae was picky. Extremely and horribly picky. Everything had to be the way he wanted it to be, and the worse part was he knew how to make it so. The appartment research was a perfect example ! He had said no to lots of them for almost everytime the tinest things, but Yoongi couldn't be mad at him, because after nineteen years of being moved around, he really wanted his friend to find a home.
They climbed the stairs, the young man could hear his lungs complaining, and went to the flat's door, only to be greeted there by two other guys. One was tall, thin and muscular, with a sharp face but almost a feminine mouth. The other one was shorter but stronger, very charismatic with bright eyes and full lips. They were leaning on the wall, obviously waiting.
“Who are you ?” sighed the real-estate agent, seeing his chances of convincing Taehyung already slipping away.
The shorter one straightened up.
“ Kim Dongchul ? I'm Park Jimin and this is my brother Jeon Jungkook. You gave us an appointment three days ago. We would have waited outside but someone opened us and it's cold. I hope you don't mind.”
“Oh hi !” he said as he noticed Taehyung and Yoongi, who was staring at them with frowned eyebrows.
Both waved, one with much more enthousiasm than the other.
“Oh f-” exclaimed the agent as he reached for his phone. “I... I must have messed up my shcedule, you were supposed to come after misters Min and Kim, I'm so sorry...”
“Ah don't worry Dongchul-sshi” replied Jimin joyfully.
Suga noted he had a bit of an accent, but couldn't figure out from where.
“Yeah, group visits are always funnier” added Taehyung. “We don't mind sharing, even if it means war.”
Yoongi was minding, mainly because he didn't like people. He also didn't want to go through all of this war thing with strangers knowing that Tae was probably going to reject the damn place eventually. It was a waste of energy, and on this particular day, he already didn't have much.
“Tae drop it” he sighed, grapping the other's wrist. “It's over our budget anyway.”
“No hyung, I wanna see it ! I have a feeling about this place...”
Yoongi sighed again but let out a grunt of agreement. The agent, not believing his luck, hastened to unlock the wooden door. It opened on a very large and very bright living-room, with a big brown leather couch at its center. One step at the back led to bay window with several sitting cushions before it. On the left, a door to probably the bathroom. On the right, an open kitchen with a wooden bar and a few high-seats. On each side of the living-room there was a door to what Yoongi assumed was a bedroom. It felt like an american loft, one of those you see on tv.
As soon as they were able to enter, Jimin and Taehyung wandered off, exploring every corner of the place. Yoongi was left with the agent and the taller boy, Jungkook, who had not spoken yet and had kept his head bowed during the entire conversation. Now though, it was up, as he scanned the appartment with his wide eyes. Yoongi looked at him, not really caring about the visit. Whatever Tae wanted was fine with him. He realized he seemed very young, probably the youngest of them all. What was he doing here ? Who were they, him and his so-called brother who hadn't even the same name ?
His thoughts got cut as Jimin and Taehyung came back from the bedrooms, and cried out in heart.
“I love it here ! We are sooo taking this appartment.”
They froze and stared nastily at each other from the opposite sides of the room.
“You can't. I want to live here.” pouted Taehyung.
That rang a bell in Yoongi's head. He stared at his friend, his resoluted face and his fierce eyes, then turned to the agent.
“We take it. You can prepare the papers immediately.”
“What ?” Jimin snapped. “No way, I'm not leaving.” as he crossed his arms. “We take it.”
“Well I'm not leaving either.” Taehyung retorted.
“Kookie, mind having my back on this for once ?”
All eyes went to the youngest, who scowled.
“It's really nice” he muttered, as if words were ripped from his mouth.
Jimin's gaze lightened up and he smiled. Yoongi had to admit it was of the cutest smile he had ever seen.
“It's perfect. It has everything, and it's halfway through the university and your school !”
“But we are keeping it !” whined Taehyung. “I will never find something like this again !”
The real-estate agent, forgotten by all, nodded vigorously. That drove Yoongi off. He felt his tiredness and frustration boil up in his veins. He had not slept well, mainly not enough, last night, and holy hell Tae had finally found a place he liked. He'd be damned if he let this chance pass by.
“Listen” he said as he took a few steps toward Jimin, cutting him in his attempt of a protest. “I visitited very exactly twenty-eight appartments, every time for them to be rejected by the most fucking stupid thing ever. So there is absolutely no fucking way you get this place now that the kid likes it, unless it is over my fucking dead body. Am I being clear ?”
Jimin opened his mouth again, staring at him with a look of “Honey you don't scare me at all and if I have to kill you I sure will” but Tae was faster.
“Why don't we share the place ?”
“What ?”
Yoongi glanced at his friend, ready to ask him if he had lost his goddamn mind, but the latter had only eyes for Jungkook, who had bowed his head once again. He seemed intrigued, and also as if he just had the best idea ever. He finally looked back at the other two and smiled widely.
“Jimin, you have seen the bedroom, like me. You know it's very large, large enough to split up the room in two. It's very spacious, we can totally live at four here. So what do you say ?”
Yoongi rushed through the room to Tae's side, and growled in a low voice.
“Are you out of your mind ? They're complete strangers Tae ! What has gotten into you ?!”
“Him hyung” Tae retorted, pointing discreetly at Jungkook. “And not in the way you're slowly beginning to want to get into Jimin, if you know what I mean”
Said Jimin had joined his brother and was discussing the matter with him, turning his back to them. Yoongi's eyes wandered on his lower region – fine as hell ass-, then went back at Tae who looked a bit delighted.
“You little piece of-”
“I'm serious hyung. Look at him. The kid looks miserable. I wonder what got them here.”
“ Who cares what got them here ?!”
“We do if we're gonna live with them !”
“We are not going to live with them Tae !”
The younger changed his angle of attack.
“Look at this in a practical way. There is no way on earth I'm going to live somewhere else, but the rent is really over what we have. If we divide it by two though... problem solved ! You'll even have enough extra money to buy that fine-ass music-making thing you wanted. Plus, I'll have someone else to bother when I'm bored and you just feel like sleeping. And it'll be really easier to get into Jimin if you're his roomate than if you part ways without even a goodbye.”
Yoongi didn't even comment on the last statement – it was after all pretty true, even though he had no intention on getting into Jimin – but he took a moment to think about the other things. He considered himself a practical man, he was proud of it actually, and what Tae said made sense. And just to imagine working on aforementioned fine-ass music-making thing... He sighed.
“ Is this really what you want ? There's no going back here Tae, we won't be able to throw them out if they turned out psychopaths.”
“I know, but they won't be. Trust me on this hyung.”
“Fine...”
They straightened up and realized the other two had been looking at them, waiting for them to finish.
“ So ?” asked Jungkook, almost defiantly.
“ We're okay if you are” replied Yoongi, nearly picking up the challenge.
Jimin glanced at his brother with what seems to be concern, then nodded.
“We are.”
“Is that okay with you ?”
They turned as one to the real-estate agent who was planning in his head the really sweet vacation he was going to get just as soon as he would leave this freaking place. He blinked twice as he noticed them staring at him.
“What ?”
“Is it okay with you ? The four of us living here ?”
The Carribeans. Yeah the Carribeans sounded right. With the blue sea, the sun, and just dolphins for company.
“ You know what ? He replied, tearing apart the protocole “It most definitly isn't. I'm pretty sure it's against several rules of renting business, but you are the most frustrating clients I have ever had, and I look forward to NOT hearing from you again. So you live at four here, or eight, you can have snakes or even dead bodies for all I care. Now let's go to the kitchen, I have all the papers with me. Shall we ?”
Appalled by his tantrum, the boys silently agreed then followed him to the bar where he sat, pulling papers out of his suitcase. He showed them where to sign, explained them all the boring details they had to know with his professionnalism back. As he folded the documents, he looked at them.
“Before we go into the financial aspect, do you have any questions on the renting contract ?”
“Yes” Jimin said, raising his hand. (“Cute” thought Yoongi) “My brother is underage. Does he need anything specific ?”
Sigh. Of course one of them had to be underage.
“Well, his legal guardian has to sign a document and write an authorisation but...”
“Good” Jimin interrupted “Do you have these papers here ? I'll do it.”
“You can't, only his leg-”
“I'm his legal guardian.”
The agent looked blankly at Jimin. Who the hell were these people ?
“Hum, do you have any proof of tha-”
“For god's sake, just hand him the fucking papers already !” Jungkook errupted, surprising everyone as he slammed his fist on the counter. His arms muscles were tensed and Tae's pleased look didn't slip by Yoongi. “If he says he's my legal guardian then he freaking is ! You have very clearly stated that you want to get rid of us as soon as possible, so don't waste time complicating things for fucking nothing !”
“Kook, language.” Jimin warned.
“Fuck off hyung”
And he left. They heard the sudden noise of the entry door slamming, and Yoongi stared at his brother.
“So this is what we are living with ? A tormented teenager ?”
Jimin offered an apologetic look and he twirled his hands.
“He'll open up... eventually. Please don't be harsh on him, it's been a rough year... The papers now, please ?”
Yoongi glanced at his friend who was still staring at where Jungkook had left. He seemed intrigued again, and maybe a bit sad.
When the documents for the youngest were filled properly, they went to talk about finances. The agent explained everything, and ended up informing them they needed a warrant.
“One good thing though, because what is one more broken rule, is that one single warrant is enough for the four of you.”
Taehyung and Yoongi exchanged a look.
“Should we...” began the first.
“He said he would do it” replied the second “He said it'd be a miracle and he'd gladly contribute to it”
He reached for his phone, opened it, and pressed one of his shortcut numbers.
“Jin-hyung ?” he said, as his whole face softened with his voice, “It's Suga. I'm with Tae and guess what ? We found a place to live ! Yeah, unbelievable isn't it ?!” he laughed, either at what Jin told him or at Tae's protest. “Remember the document we sent you two weeks ago ? Yeah the warrant thing... You're still okay ? Great ! Thanks a lot Jin ! Could you fill it and mail it to the agent ? Yeah... Okay, perfect. Oh ! One last thing ! You have to add two names to the renters, Park Jimin and Jeon Jungkook. No I'm not kidding Jin-hyung. Yeah Tae got us into a gigantic mess again, how did you know ? Okay, I'll explain to you in detail later, bye Jin, and thanks a lot again !”
Yoongi ended the call and looked at the exhausted agent.
“ Anything else ?”
At the end of the day, they had all moved in. Neither of them had any big furniture, but as it turned out, both duos had just arrived in Seoul and they had a lot of various stuff. It took several backs and fourths, ones to the hotel they were staying at, the others to Jin's place, who was at work so they avoided his questions as well as his texts, to move everything. They also had to buy two more beds, but they went separatly. Fun fact, they ended up both investing in a wooden screen to split the bedrooms. Another fun fact, said bedrooms were large enough to fit in two beds, but not much larger. When night came, they were too tired to cook anything and ordered pizzas that they ate sitting on the floor of the living-room, around the coffee table.
“ So...” began Tae after a long moment of silence and pleasant eating, “Should we start to get to know each other ? Where are you guys from ? We're from Daegu, both of us.”
“We're from Busan.” answered Jimin with a smile. So that was the accent...
“What made you come to Seoul ?”
“I'm starting college in march, so I had to. Jungkook comes with me. He's starting his senior year in highschool.”
“Amazing I'm starting college too !” cried out Taehyung as he leaned over to hug Jimin. “That means we can go together ! And that we are the same age !”
Jimin patted his shoulder, half nervous half amused.
“Yeah I guess...”
“And Jungkookie is one year younger ?”
“Two actually. But he's advanced. What are you majoring in ?”
The mentioned boy and Yoongi seemed to have made a silent agreement to let the others talk together while they enjoyed the food. It was relaxing, in some way, to listen to them. Jimin had a soft voice where Tae's was low and the contrast was pleasing to the ear. He let himself sink against the couch, resting his head on it. He got lost in his thoughts for a solid fifteen minutes and when he came back, the topic had changed.
“Okay okay, let me clear this” Jimin asked, waving at Tae with one hand while the other was on his shoulder. “Who is our warrant exactly ? How do you know him if it's your first time in Seoul ? And how a guy can possibly agree to be a warrant to people he doesn't know at all ?”
“ Oh it's a long story ! Well not really... Anyway, we met him in Daegu four years ago, when he came in the summer to work at a restaurant. A sort of intership I think. We went to said restaurant, I don't remember why, and we got along really well. So we kept contact. He's been kind of a mother to us since then.”
“To you maybe” Yoongi muttered. “I'm not the kid here, I don't need a freaking mother.”
Without warning, once again, Jungkook rose up and went in the room that now belonged to him and Jimin. The latter sighed as he watched him, then turned back to the others.
“Hyung, you stupid idiot.” snapped Taehyung.
“What did I say ?” wondered the oldest.
“Don't worry... he's just...”
“Hyung, the legal guardian thing ? You of all should understand what it means !”
But Yoongi couldn't. He was too exhausted to think straight, and was not able to focus on anything beside the fact that he was now living with a moody teenager. As if handling Tae wasn't enough. Jimin straightened up.
“I should go check on him”
“Can I ?” asked Tae as he stood up. “I can sometimes be very good with people. Besides, you could talk some sense into my hyung.”
Not waiting for an answer, he rushed toward the bedroom and entered without knocking. The other two remained silent for a bit before Jimin spoke.
“Our parents died three months ago. Car accident. I know it's not the best way to tell you, but if it helps explaining all of this...”
“I'm really sorry” And he was. “I didn't know.”
“Don't worry. It's just that... it's been difficult for him. He didn't exacly want to come here with me, but I'm responsible for him now. He had to. He said he could take care of himself but how could I leave him behind all alone ? He's still a kid. So yeah... it's been a little hard. We miss Busan. I hope it gets better with time...”
Yoongi nodded, not knowing how to react. Jimin was surpringly honest with all of this, and open, and for him who was very reserved, it was confusing. Yet familiar, because Tae was also a very straightforward person. He couldn't help but notice how sweet he was when he was concerned about his younger brother.
Said brother was currently lying on his new bed, staring absent-mindly at his phone. He didn't seem to hear when Taehyung opened the door and only lifted his head when he felt a weight on his side.
“What you doing ?”
“Nothing that concerns you” snapped the younger, putting his phone down.
“Don't shut me out” Taehyung complained because, damn, he really was trying his best, “You're mad at your brother, I get it, you're probably even mad at the entire world, but that doesn't mean you have to be mad at me.”
Jungkook looked at him and couldn't hold back a little smile as he saw his pouting lips.
“I don't feel like talking” he retorted, but his tone had softened.
“That's okay, we don't have to talk. We can just lie here. I just don't think you should be on your own right now.”
The younger put his head down, not agreeing but not sending him away either. So Taehyung just stayed, lying down near him and stared at the ceiling.
“Sorry for Yoongi-hyung though. Sometimes he can't put two and two together.”
“Because you can ?” Jungkook muffled with a teasing voice, which drew a smile on Tae's face.
“Of course. Don't take this the wrong way, but you're kind of an open book to me.”
Jungkook laughed. It was one of the sweetest thing Tae had ever heard.
“So, what's your story ?” Jimin asked abruptly after a few minutes of a comfortable silence.
Yoongi looked up at him.
“Well... Tae is going to college so he had to come to Seoul. I go wherever he goes.”
“Why ?”
Yoongi hesitated. He was not an open person, but there was something about Jimin that just called for confessions. To be honest, it scared him a little. He hardly knew the guy.
“ Well... We're orphans. Never knew our parents, or we can't remember them. Tae came in the orphanage when he was three and I was five. He was so little, and way too precious for this world, so I kinda took him under my wing. I have tried to protect him ever since. We've been moved to a lot of foster homes in all these years, but somehow, we managed to always remain together. He's the closest thing I have to a family; Him and Jin, but please don't tell him when you'll meet him, because you sure will. So of course I would have never let him go to Seoul alone.”
“That's not what happened at all !” shouted an indignated voice from across the room. The boys looked up to see the two others coming out of the bedroom, and both noticed that Tae had his hand on the youngest's shoulder. “Yoongi-hyung playing the “protective brother” card to hit on someone !
Jimin laughed softly as Yoongi's face turned red.
“Here's what really happened !” continued Taehyung as they came closer. “Suga-hyung really wanted to come to Seoul for a long time, but he didn't want to go without me because he was scared. So he had to wait till I become an adult. My last year of highschool, he busted my ass so I'd get accepted by a college in Seoul. Now here we are, the Daegu boys, ready to take over the world. And we met you, the Busan brothers. You were brought to us by fate, or chance. Or both. I have a really good feeling about this.”
They talked a little bit more as they finished the now cold pizzas, then they all headed to bed. Jungkook and Tae went first, leaving the other two alone. Yoongi let his eyes wander on a sleepy Jimin. Damn, he was good-looking, and incredibly charismatic. He cleared his throat.
“Just so there isn't any misunderstanding, Tay says a lot of crap. I wasn't hitting on you earlier...”
“You weren't ?”
Jimin lazily opened his eyes and smiled at him, a smile that probably meant “how can you possibly say that when you've been checking me out the entire day ?”.
“No...”
“Too bad.”
He got up and walked toward his room. At the door, he turned to face Yoongi.
“Good night Daegu boy.”
He didn't wait for his answer, whispered softly while the older stared at the closed door.
“Good night Busan kid.”
They had found their marks only a week after moving in. Two weeks later, it looked as if they had always been living in this appartment that they had transformed little by little to make it their own. They got familiar with the district too. Jimin and Jungkook had found a dance studio held by a certain Jung Hoseok which they joined as soon as they could not two streets away. Yoongi on his side had found a job in a small music shop not far from their place, because he was not living from his music yet. It belonged to a guy named Kim Namjoon, who seemed nice and cool at first. Tae had been hired by Jin to work as a waiter in his restaurant. Both of them would be starting in a few days.
Between the four of them, things got better, little by little. Jimin was easy-going and kind, and Yoongi really liked his company. Tae got along with him really well, they shared a lot of interests and would often leave the appartment to wander around together. Jungkook was the one having the most difficult time adjusting to this new life, but Taehyung had decided it was his personnal mission to make him open up. He still barely talked though, Yoongi couldn't recall if he ever heard him make a full sentence apart from the first day.
This was until this very night, where things began to change for the youngest.
Him and his brother got into a huge argument. The other two could hear them yelling from the living-room. It lasted almost half an hour, then Jimin joined them, looking exhausted, and dropped himself onto the couch.
“I give up” he sighed and rubbed his neck. “He won't listen to me.”
“What happened ?” asked Yoongi, lifting his head from the computer he had on his knees.
“He's packing up. Says he's going back to Busan.”
The oldest was about to ask what the hell but Tae interrupted him by standing up and rushing to the bedroom. He opened the door slowly and entered.
Jungkook was indeed putting, throwing actually, his clothes in a suitcase, looking beyond pissed.
“Kookie ?”
“ Get out.”
“Talk to me. Tell me what is going on.”
“Isn't it obvious ? I'm packing my shit.”
“I can see that. But why ?”
“Because I fucking hate it here. It's not my city. It's not home.”
“It could be” retorted Taehyung with patience. He knew how the other felt, he went through that more than once.
“How ?!” snarled Jungkook. “ I don't want to be here. I don't belong here. In Busan I had a good life, I felt happy in my school, I had my friends and my dance team. I had someone to go working out with. Hell, I even had a girlfriend.”
Tae tried to ignore the pinch in his heart at these words. The attraction he was beginning to feel for the younger was not relevant at all at the moment.
“I feel so lonely here. I want to go back. It's not what it was before, it never will be again, but at least I won't be all alone.”
Taehyung sat on the bed, keeping his eyes on him. He hesitated, then went to touch his arm.
“You wouldn't be if you let us in. Your brother, hyung, me. We can be here for you, you just have to stop shutting us out. Things will get better then. You may even end up enjoying your life here.”
“ I doubt it” the boy replied, but he wasn't packing anymore.
“Could you at least try ?”
He looked at him with a little pleading smile, and Jungkook laughed.
“I guess so.”
“Great !” shouted Tae as he leand on the bed, opening his arms. “Come !”
“What ?”
“You said you'd try. And you're doing it my way. Now come in here.”
Jungkook laughed again, shaking his head, but he eventually complied and crawled against Tae's chest.
“Okay... What now ?”
“Why are you so mad at your brother ?” asked the older, his hand coming to play with the other's hair. Surprisingly, the latter didn't push him away. “He's doing his best.”
“ I know but... he's only making everything worse. We have always been close, but we used to tease each other and bicker a lot. Now, he acts as if he's trying to replace them. But he can't, and I don't want him to. I don't need another father or mother, I need my big brother, and the relationship we had. It would be a really welcome normal thing in all this new life. But no, he just wants to parent me, and it doesn't seem right.”
Jungkook felt it was very easy to talk to Taehyung. His hand stroking soflty his hair and the quiet sound of his breathing was relaxing, and he found himself calmer that he had been for the past four months. He even felt tears, the one he kept deep inside him for all this time, rushing to his eyes, as well as his heart finally letting go.
“I just feel so lost here. Everything just happens all at once. One minute I'm in Busan being told that my parents have died and the next one I'm living in Seoul with my brother slash new legal guardian and two others guys I don't know. It's a little overwhelming. I miss them...”
The boy finally cracked, and let tears roll on his cheeks. He hadn't cried since the day of the accident but somehow, the moment felt right. Tae didn't say anything at first, but he did hold the younger tighter and his hand closed in his hair. He let him dry out his sorrow, never stopping to pat him kindly.
“How were they ?” he finally asked.
Jungkook took a minute to think.
“They were... mainly away. Dad is- was an entrepreneur, he invested early in computers and build his fortune upon it. He always had to travel around the world for his work, and my mom went with him. Jimin and I stayed at home. It was nice when we got to see them though. But it didn't happen often. And then Jimin came out. They didn't take it really well.”
“Must have been hard. And lonely.”
“It was. But they were my parents, the only ones I ever had. It left a void when they passed. I'm angry at them too. Why did they leave us ? Weren't we good enough ? I think I was waiting for them to make up to us, but I guess it will never happen now...”
His voice got quieter, filled with sadness. Tae held onto him, playing with his hair, trying to ease him. It seemed to work, the younger's breathing slowed down as he fell into sleep. Taehyung closed his eyes too and whispered :
“You'll never be alone again Kookie, I promise.”
When he went to bed, Jimin found them sleeping, cuddled in each other's arms. He smiled fondly at the scene, silently thanking Tae for the effect he had on his brother, then went quietly to his side of the room.
After this day, Jungkook began to fit little by little in his new environment. He started to smile again, and laugh, and be himself, mainly thanks to Taehyung. The boy had a spectacular impact on him, he seemed as they understood each other perfectly and spent more and more time together. Tae even took upon himself to talk to Jimin about what the younger had told him the infamous night, and since then the Busan boys were trying to restore their old brothers dynamic.
Yoongi would tease his friend about the maknae, saying that he was so head over heels for him. But Tae would snap back to mind his own business and maybe Jimin's ass for once because he was sure as hell going nowhere with his current strategy of being a grumpy grandpa.
Life was finally good for the Busan and Daegu boys.
As time went by, their small group grew bigger. It began with Jin, who came to the appartment just a few days after they moved in to see by himself where his protegees had ended up. It took not long to fall, platonically, in love with their two roomates. Somehow, with the elaborated meals he kept bringing them, and his sweet advices, and his careful heart, he became kind of their mother as well, filling, even if not entirely, the void in their lives.
Then came Hoseok, Hobi, the owner of the dance studio. Him and Jungkook really did hit off, spending countless hours in the practice room or working out. It was just a matter of time before he came to the appartment, where he met Yoongi and Taehyung. Hobi was a sunshine, a ball of endless energy, and things were never boring with him by your side.
Finally, there was Namjoon, Yoongi's theorical boss. When he started working at his music shop, the first weeks were spent in silence. It wasn't uncomfortable though, he just seemed like the kind of guy who wouldn't talk for nothing. One day, he saw Yoongi working on his computer during his break, and came by his side.
“What are you doing ?”
“Uh ? Oh, i'm just trying to come up with lyrics for a song I wrote. You d'think I have plenty of things to write about since I moved to a complete different city, but the words just won't come.”
“ Can I listen to it ?”
Yoongi nodded quietly and pressed a button. The music filled the speakers and as soon as Namjoon picked up the rhythm, he began to rap.
“I came here, bare hands, bare feet,
I came here with just my rhymes and beat.
Straight outta Daegu, I have been driven
I have plenty to say, you're going to listen”
He stopped as he noticed the other's astounded look.
“Sorry...” he apologized shyly.
“Don't be, that was fucking amazing ! I didn't know you were so talented.”
“Oh I'm not... I just happen to write music and lyrics too.”
“What, really ?”
“Yeah. I even have a recording studio at the back of the shop. Have I never showed it to you ?”
Later, Yoongi would admit this was the very moment he decided he really wanted to be friend with Namjoon. For now however, he followed him to the back, and fell instantly in love with the tiny room. They talked about music for the rest of the day, and the day after, and he naturally ended inviting him over, more and more often. He met there Hobi, and Jin, who he started dating almost immediately.
By the end of the sixth month spend together, their appartment had become the offical hangout place for the seven of them.
“How come Jimin and you are brothers ? You look nothing like him; You don't even have the same last names !”
It was mid june. Taehyung and Jungkook were playing a video game on tv in the empty living-room, both sitting on the floor, not far from each other. They were always close now. With time, the youngest got more and more at ease with Tae's touch, especially since he started senior year in his new school. At the end of the first (awful) day, he went crawling into Tae's bed, looking for his comfort. Sleeping together became a once-a-week habit, and Jungkook realized his nights were better then. The relaxing feeling he had the first time they had an open-heart conversation under his hand came back, stronger.
He glanced at his friend, trying not to lose focus.
“ We are actually half-brothers. Our mother was already pregnant with him when she met my father. He was given her name, I have my dad's. I took everything from him while Jimin is mom's spitting image.”
“Do... Do you have a picture ?” Tae asked, almost worridly, pausing the game.
“Hum... yeah... Let me...”
Jungkook grabbed his phone and went through his folders. He picked one where there was all the family and handed the device to the other. The latter stared at it with curious eyes. He could see the resemblance now, it was obvious. Their mother was basically Jimin with long hair and the man standing next to her had all of Jungkook's sharp lines and defined body. Tae lifted his head and smiled at him.
“What ?”
“Nothing. You're just cute.”
Jungkook blushed.
“Are we interrupting something ?” said a teasing voice from the entry.
“Finally !” Tae cried out as he turned to Yoongi and Jimin who had just came back. “You left almost two hours ago ! What took you so long ? And where is the food ?”
“Relax kid, we have it. Half is in Jiminie's hand and the other half is coming with the three others. And we kinda got lost to be honest. We started talking and didn't pay attention to the road.”
“Yeah yeah, cry me a river. I'm sure you went in a dark alley and made out !”
Actually, the first time Yoongi kissed Jimin, it was completely by accident. They had come home utterly wasted after Jungkook's birthday. Sure, it wasn't the most responsible thing to do, but the kid just turned eighteen, he had to be adult somewhere in the world. Him and Tae had wandered off as soon as they entered, getting involved in a tickle fight that Yoongi assumed would eventually lead to an intensive session of cuddling. The two were falling for each other so much that it wasn't even fun.
With them going, it left only Yoongi to carry a very drunk and therefore very flirty Jimin to his bed. He tucked him in, admiring him fondly in all his wasted pride. He didn't know what went through his mind, but he bent down to plant a soft kiss on his cheek. That's the exact moment the younger chose to turn his head, and the kiss ended on his lips. Yoongi blinked and abruptly withdrew hiimself. He then muttered a quick apology and left as he had the devil at his ass. Once in the shelter of his sheets, he could still hear Jimin's sweet laugh.
Yoongi cursed in his pillow. Ignoring the attraction he felt for the Busan boy was getting more and more difficult. He liked everything about him. His kindness, his concern, the way he took care of his younger brother, the way his gaze lightened up whenever he smiled, how his body moved when he danced, hipnotizing, almost sexually. If he closed his eyes, he could picture perfectly his naked torso as he came out of the shower, only wearing a towel. Yeah, he definitly felt something for Jimin. But he had not acted on it yet. Not that he was afraid of rejection, it was part of life after all, more of the fact that the younger boy would feel something too. Because then, what ? Should they date ? But they were roomates, if things didn't work out, the situation could become unbearable.
Tae found him still muttering when he finally came to bed.
“Jimin's whispering your name in his sleep” he informed him.
“Oh ? Well, that's great.”
“Hyung, I love you, but sometime you really can't put two and two together.”
“Was that supposed to mean ?” retorted Yoongi as he lifted his head to glance angrily at his friend.
“ You know what it means. Don't be a coward and go get this Busan boy's ass once and for all. He's waiting for it.”
“You can talk. What abour your Busan boy ?”
The second time Yoongi kissed Jimin, it was not by accident at all. In fact, it happened after a very nice dinner between just the two of them – the rapper had chased the others away and they had sought refuge at Jin's place, then at Hobi's because fucking couples are fucking everywhere – and the most pathetic declaration ever. Jimin had laughed and snapped “About damn time”. And then, Yoongi had kissed him.
Followed the best sexy time the older has ever had. It left them exhausted, both panting naked on his bed.
“So are we... you know, together ?” He asked shyly.
Jimin kissed him again and buried his nose into Yoongi's neck.
“Yeah, you're all mine, Daegu boy.”
“I think I'm in love with Tae” Jungkook busted out as he dropped himself onto one of the kitchen's highchairs.
They had been living together for a bit more than a year now, so the statement came in as no surprise to the maknae's audience, consisting of his brother and his roommate/brother's boyfriend/loved one's brother. Boy that was messed up, he had a hard time keeping track with all the different relationships.
“Oh, so you're gay now ?” Jimin teased.
“What ? No, that's not what i'm saying.”
“You said you were in love with Tae.”
“Yep.”
“Tae is a boy.”
“Yeah, but I don't love any boy, I love him; he could be a freaking dragon, I would still love him if he had the same personality.”
“Okay but how is this any news ?” Yoongi grunted, Jimin's hand going lower and lower behind the counter was distracting him.
“I had sex last night.” The youngest said.
Immediately, the two others parted and stared at him with shock.
“What ?!” his brother shouted.
“Oh please, don't serve me the prude act ! As much as I would love to, I know that Tae doesn't join me at night just for the pleasure to be with me. This place has thin walls may I remind you ?”
Jimin had the decency to bow his head. Yoongi just shrugged.
“Okay, so you had sex last night” he retorted. “With Tae ? Do I have to kill you ?”
“No hyung, no. With a girl from my school. It doesn't matter who it was with. I just wanted to try again, to see if things cleared out.”
“What do you mean try again ?! Jimin cried out, perfectly enacting the concerned brother part.
“What do you think we did with Meeyon during all these afternoons locked in my room ? Okay, it didn't happen often, but it happened.”
“Too much information !” exclaimed Jimin as he covered his ears.
“Kookie, would you mind getting to the point ? What does your sexual life possibly have to do with Tae if you're not sleeping with him ?”
“I wanted to see if it made what I felt go away. I thought I was just lonely, that I needed some company. Turns out I was hella wrong. It's even worse now, cause I keep picturing Tae at the girl's place.”
“Too much information !” It was Yoongi's turn.
“Hyungs I need your help, this is serious... I don't know what to do ! I'm not even sure I really know what I want. All I do know is that it didn't feel right with the girl.”
“Then go talk to him !”
“He won't let me...”
“What ? Why ?”
“We kinda kissed at my highschool graduation, and I've been more or less avoiding him since then.”
“What ?! But that was three weeks ago !” Yoongi snapped, rising up. “Okay, forget what I said. Don't talk to him. Don't even lay your eyes on him ever again. And you better run because if I catch you, I'll rip you apart.”
Jungkook left without a word, and the rapper followed him with a satisfied gaze. He then turned back to Jimin, who was looking at him, his arms crossed.
“That was a stupid-ass advice.” he said.
“You're the stupid ass” Yoongi replied automatically.
“Well, then I guess you won't get any tonight.” the younger retorted and he rushed toward the bedroom.
Yoongi sighed. What did he do to heavens to be stuck with two moody Busan boys ?
“Are you going to keep avoiding me any longer ? I'm getting sick of it.”
Jungkook straightened on his bed to look at Tae's frowned eyebrows and pouting lips. The older boy was leaning almost over him. Close, too close.
“I'm not avoiding you” he answered, hardly swallowing.
“ Really ? Well it sure as hell looks like it. It's been more than a month since your graduation, and we barely exchanged three sentences.”
“We still cuddle.” Jungkook pointed, human incarnation of bad faith.
“Yeah, we do. Because I keep coming to your room and you can't say no to me. Now that this has been cleared out, will you adress the issue or should I wait another two months for you to finally grow the fuck up ?!”
Taehyung rarely ever swore, but Yoongi's influence could be felt when he was mad. And he was definitly mad right now. He looks damn hot, the younger thought.
“Okay, okay, fine... I have indeed been avoindng you.”
“Yeah yeah, I already know that. Get to the point and confess already ! Cause I promised myself I wouldn't do anything till you were ready, but I have wanted to tear your fucking shirt apart since the first day I met you.”
Jungkook kissed him. He didn't think about it, it just felt the right thing to do at this moment. The kiss heated up, and soon, their hands were all over the other's body, exploring and discovering but mainly taking clothes off as fast as they could.
“I love you” Jungkook muttered against Tae's skin, punctuating every word with a soft kiss. “I love you so fucking much. And it scares the shit out of me because I've never felt like this before but- holy crap...”
The younger leaned back, acknowledging his lover's beauty as a whole for what seems the first time. He was perfect in every possible way, and deserved to be worshipped. He sure was going to, for as long as he could.
In the living-room, Jimin's head lifted up as he heard the noises coming from the bedroom. He shivered. Oh no, he was not going to witness his little brother having sex in the very next room ! He stood up, grabbed his cloak, but froze when the entry door opened. Quick, he couldn't let Yoongi find out what was going on, he would never Jungkook live after that. He rushed to his boyfriend, threw his arms around his neck and pushed him outside.
“Jiminie-love, what the...”
“I feel like going out ! You like pasta right ? Everybody loves pasta. I bet Jin-hyung could cook us some, let's go see him !”
Eventually, Yoongi came to accept their relationship. It took several threats, his to Jungkook if he ever hurt Tae, and said Tae's and Jimin's to him because what was going on between them was not his goddamn business and if he wanted to dig in something, he'd better dig in Jimin's ass and let them live.
The change of rooms came naturally. They waited though, Jin would have never let them do it while Jungkook was still underage. The day of his birthday was Tae's and his actual first time, they somehow had managed to keep it relatively innocent before that. It had definitly almost happened on the night they confessed, but Tae had stopped it.
It began with a few clothes. Then some meaningless objects. And by the time their second anniversary of moving in together came, Tae and Jimin had completely switched places.
This is a story about two duos, one from Busan, the other from Daegu. Four guys brought to the same appartment a little by chance, a little by fate.
This is not why they stayed together though.
“What made you ask us to live with you ?” Jungkook asked, one day, as they were lazily hanging out in the living-room, just the four of them. He has Tae in his arms, his back against the couch where Jimin and Yoongi were lying over one another.
“You” Tae said with his blatant honesty and his heartfilling wide smile. “You looked sad and lost, and I wanted to know why. Plus, Yoongi really liked Jimin's behind.”
“Hey !” the latter protested while his boyfriend laughed.
“I'm glad you asked.” Jungkook stated finally.
“What made you agree ?” Yoongi wanted to know.
“Kookie was sad and lost” Jimin replied. “And I felt like it would be good for him to meet new people. You seemed nice, with the right amount of crazyness. Plus, I really liked Yoongi's behind.”
The other chuckled as the rapper leaned to kiss his love.
“I'm glad you agreed” sighed Tae, and he snuggled closer to Jungkook's body. “This place is only perfect because you're in it.”
The story continues, but things rarely ever change.
The Busan brothers are still all whipped for the Daegu boys.
The Daegu boys still love and cherish the Busan brothers.
Life goes on, in this appartment they now call home.
