Chapter Text
Sleeping in the Sun
The summer sun is high in the sky by the time a blanket is laid out on the grass. Yeo doesn’t often spend his time sitting under the direct sunlight, but today he feels adventurous. Cold, alcoholic drink in hand, he removes his slippers and steps onto the blanket before sitting on it. He drinks from the bottle in his hand, the bitterness pleasant under the heat of the day. After drinking most of it, he lies down on the blanket and shuts his eyes.
Shin arrives at home later, and looks all around the house until he spots the man napping in the backyard. He steps out onto the grass quietly, and then comes to rest on the blanket, lying himself in front of his sleeping companion. “Why are you sleeping out here?” he asks quietly. He reaches up to the other man’s face and traces out his features with his fingers. The skin is softer, and more malleable than it is when he’s awake.
Yeo awakens slowly, the touch of his companion’s fingers on his skin bringing a pleasant warmth to his body in addition to the sun. “When did you get back…?” he mumbles, eyes opening and blinking as they adjust to the light.
Shin smiles and drops his hand back down to the blanket. “Not too long ago…I would have woken you sooner, but I assumed there was a reason you were sleepy enough to nap in the direct sunlight.” He leans forward and kisses his sleepy partner’s lips quickly.
Yeo stretches out his limbs and yawns. “I sometimes come nap in the sun when I feel lonely…The first time we ever slept in the same bed together I compared your warmth to that of the sun’s rays on a cloudless day. So when you’re away on your trips for several days, I find a little comfort in sleeping under the sun.”
Shin inches forward and pulls the man into his arms. “I’m glad that even when you feel lonely, there’s something that can remind you of me…”
Yeo closes his eyes, surrounded by warmth. But not even the sun can really ever compare to you.
