    Summary

The boy appeared no older than seven. His slight frame was draped in tattered rags, wrists and ankles bound with white bandages, sloppily applied. His sunset-hued hair hung in drenched, tangled clumps, saturated by the river's chill.

Though he floated like a lifeless husk, his amber eyes remained wide open. Hauntingly vacant yet piercing, devoid of light, mirroring the hollow gaze of the Kaslana himself.

Here, two souls long dead in spirit crossed paths.

Kevin Kaslana stood and stared, then stared some more.

His expression unchanging, he reached down with a gloved hand, unhurried, lifting the child by the scruff as if he was handling a drenched sodden feline.

    Summary

    The room is too bright.

It’s quaint, in a nauseating sort of way. Polished floors glint from the gleaming honeycomb chandeliers overhead, make him squint. A few vases sprinkled here and there, filling the room with a sickeningly sweet scent – even a waffle-cone headrest framing the silken sheets of a neatly-tucked bed. Outside, the golden sun gleams, the gentle rays of light spilling past curtains that waver in the afternoon breeze.

It's meant to be beautiful. Luxurious. Welcoming.

With one sweep of his cane, Shadow Milk tears it apart.

    Summary

J had forgotten about soulmates entirely.

The Day of The Rift had rocked the entire planet, bringing calamity, destroying countries and with it; Cha Eui-jae’s peaceful life.

He had awakened on the same day, right there in the ruins of his home amidst the bodies of his family. He hadn't thought about soulmates at the time, all that had plagued his mind in that moment was survival.
‘I want to live,’ He'd thought, more a desperate prayer than anything else; and so, the System had answered, giving him the power to survive.
From then on, J’s life had been nothing but one long, exhausting fight to stay alive

    Hey

    Hello

Lee Sa-young stared blankly at the word that had appeared on his arm. The characters were crooked, small and cramped like chicken scratches.

What kind of terrible handwriting is this

Who taught you to be this rude? Respect your elders you brat

Or; Thgll if Cha Eui-jae and Lee Sa-young were soulmates who could communicate by writing on their skin.

    Summary

It seemed that he had failed to dig his own grave. Or perhaps the realm of the dead had simply turned its back on a sinner like him.

The Kaslana wasn’t surprised. He had lived too long to still 'feel' anything. Everything was distant, muddled, clouded.

The white-haired man sat up slowly, his first instinct leading his gaze to the mirror fixed atop the dresser in the corner of the room. He was shirtless. The body he now inhabited or whoever this man had been...was eerily similar to his own from his previous life.
