Chapter Text
"You didn't tell me he'd look like this!" Taehyung whisper screams into his phone while his new driver walks around the car to close the house door. Jimin laughs into his phone. "Jungkook doesn't look anything special, Tae. I'm sure the charming effect of the bunny teeth will wear off in a week or so." he says in a small voice with a laugh.
Jungkook enters the car and flashes Tae a small smile through the rear-view mirror as he sits down and puts on his seatbelt. Taehyung is blinded. “Where to sir?” he asks with a quirk of his eyebrows and Taehyung clears his throat, hoping the hoarseness from being so dry fades away,
“No need to call me sir, hyung’s okay.” He says and immediately regrets it. They were boss and employee, certain lines should be kept but it’s one of the reflex flirt 4D things his mouth seems to do.
Jungkook is a bit weirded out. He was desperate for a job sure, and after Jimin’s recommendation, he thought he couldn’t get any luckier. He actually likes driving and the pay is very decent. The only downside is the very distracting and weird new boss he would be driving for. Honestly, he was expecting an old business man who couldn’t drive anymore because of gout or something of the sort.
“Um kim taehyung-ssi, where to?” Jungkook replies after he clears his throat as well, deciding to still be a bit more formal with his boss that he just met. Taehyung regrets requiring the new driver to wear a uniform. The collar looked very fitting for Jungkook, and the sleeves of the jacket actually fit very well, despite Taehyung’s insistence on it being 2 sizes bigger than normal. There goes his plans of giving the boy a hard time. He’s too sleepy for this.
“Can you drop me by my office? The location is in the GPS.” He says, ignoring Jungkook’s rejecting his permission to call him hyung.
“Um which one of these, sir?” Jungkook asks as he scrolls down the built-in GPS of the car, location names as weird as his new boss.
-Heaven sent
-Let me sleep
-SUGAR RUSH TIME
“Um,, I love you but, fuck you’re a hassle.” Taehyung replies in a small voice.
Jungkook coughs, maybe even chokes. “Excuse me?” He asks, turning to look at his boss with wide eyes.
“OH! It’s the name of the place, my office. Sorry I named them really weird.” Taehyung says in a rush, getting up from his slouching position on the leather lined back-seat. “Heaven sent is where I get my coffee, Let me sleep is here, home and sugar rush time is the grocery across I love you but fuck you’re a hassle.” He explains in a rush as Jungkook slowly turns back to the GPS, scrolling until he sees the place on the top of the list.
“Um…okay, to your office then sir. Any music you’d like to play?” he asks finally as he keys in the location. Music has always been a must-have for Jungkook whenever he drives, he hopes that his boss isn’t one of those people who prefer ‘silence’.
“Surprise me.” Taehyung says and rolls his head back to shut his eyes. How unfortunate. He’s going to be stuck being distracted by his new driver with blinding as fuck smile. And his weirdly fit arms for someone his age. Did he actually just get a driver who’s younger than him? Does that mean Taehyung’s is responsible for any accidents that might happen? Literally and figuratively.
No. He shouldn’t let his thoughts wander through those dangerous areas.
He’s lulled to sleep by the soft song Jungkook plays.
“Sir, we’re at I love you but, fuck youre a hassle.” Jungkook says with a smirk as Taehyung slowly wakes up to a stopped car.
“What?” He deadpans, not quite catching on, mind still hazy from sleep. Jungkook takes mercy, it is very unusual to act up when it’s just his first day.
“We’ve arrived at your office?” he smiles and exits, opening his door and helping a groggy Taehyung out by holding his elbow.
“Thank you, can you leave my stuff at the lobby?” Taehyung says as he yawns. “I’ll get someone to pick them up. I’ll call when it’s time to pick me up.” He says, brushing out his slightly crumpled coat.
“Thank you, you’re heaven sent.” He says rushed, groggy, as he runs up to the elevators.
It leaves Jungkook a bit hazed, watching the cute blush cross Taehyung’s cheeks as he rubs sleeps out of them. He’s definitely in trouble. He has to park the car somewhere and it’s when he’s looking for the entrance to the parking that he snaps out of his distracted haze.
Wait did I hear him say heaven sent?
Wasn’t that his café or something?
Shit did he want me to get him coffee?
Better be sure than get in trouble, Jungkook things as he turns around to search for any coffee shop across the street. There were two, and hopes he chooses the right one.
The coffee shop is a small fully furnished wood cabin house, a style that sticks out like a sore thumb in the midst of a very busy city. Something, he thinks, that his eccentric boss might like. As he opens the door, soft bells mark his arrival and the man behind the counter turns from rubbing a glass dry.
“Welcome to Hope on the Street! May I take your order?” he says in a particularly pleasing manner. The windows of the shop still has dew from the rain this morning, and the music playing in the store was a familiar heart-break lyric.
“Um, do you happen to know if this is where Kim Taehyung-ssi gets his coffee?” he asks, and the barista smiles.
“Oh you’re Taehyungie’s new driver?” he asks with a smile as he seems to prepare an order Jungkook has yet to make. The steel of the shaker clinks along the rim of the glass of milk as the barista spills a little bit. “Oops,” he says as he wipes some down. “He likes extra milk – “ he says offhandedly as a mumble.
“Yes, I’m the driver. May I ask how you know him?” Jungkook asks, preparing some cash to pay for the order.
“Old classmate from art school.” The man with the nametag “Hoseok” says as he puts the drink in the blender. The whirring take up the silence for a while, and they’re both left to stay quiet and wait out the noise.
He isn’t really sure if it was alright to ask, but he does anyway when the whirring stops.
“Do you have any tips for me? I’m just new to the job and Taehyung-ssi, he’s very – “ he stops in the middle, realizing what he’s about to say.
“Weird? Good-looking? Which part affects you?” Hoseok asks with a giggle. “Weird. I’m sorry, is it okay to ask?” Jungkook says a bit apprehensively.
“Sure thing! Taehyung’s very nice! As long as you don’t purposely anger him, I’m sure he’d love you.” He says as he hands the drink over to Jungkook. He reaches into his pocket when Hoseok interjects. “No, no! It’s okay, you don’t have to pay, first day and all. And usually Tae gives a card.” He says with a smile as he sends Jungkook off.
“Are you sure? I could just get reimbursed or – “ he begins but Hoseok cuts him off. “Yes I’m sure, now go go,” Hoseok says as he shoos him off with a smile.
The road isn’t as busy and Jungkook crosses readily to a glass revolving door. The interior of the building is white and pristine, the information desk no exception.
“Excuse me, do you know where Kim Taehyung-ssi’s office is?” he asks the lady and she looks him up and down.
He feels a bit taken aback by the stare but the lady answers anyways. “It’s on the top floor.” She says, “You’re the new driver, huh?” she mumbles as he buzzes him through. What’s with being the new driver? Nevertheless, he takes the elevator and patiently waits for it to reach the top floor.
The music is a bit unnerving, a small song that he sung in an open mic night a few days ago, one where he was horribly drunk and was actually asked to step out of the café.
He reaches the floor and when the elevator doors open, he’s immediately greeted by a glass panelled wall with wood running through it to form a plaid pattern. The door to Taehyung’s office is slightly ajar, but it wouldn’t matter much because the walls were completely see through.
“Um, excuse me, Kim Taehyung-ssi?” he asks and Taehyung looks up from his desk.
“Whats that?” he asks, standing up to slowly walk toward the Jungkook.
Jungkook isn’t nervous, he tells himself as he closes the glass door and steps forward to meet Taehyung in the middle.
“You told me to get coffee?” he says, reaching out to pass the cup to Taehyung
“What? I didn’t?” he says, looking at the cup strangely, eyebrows knotted in confusion.
So he must have heard wrong? Jungkook thinks
“Um, but I got some anyways?” he says anyways, trying to play it cool and subtly , at least he tries to, wipe the bead of sweat forming on his forehead.
“If you wanted to ask me out for coffee you could’ve just said so?” Taehyung says as he walks back to his desk, setting the coffee down. He can’t help but smile. Teasing the new kid would be sooooo fun.
Jungkook doesn’t know where to begin, what to say, how to feel. How is he even being tormented this way? “UHM WHAT” Taehyung can practically Jungkook choke. He let’s out a very mirthful laugh as he says “Nevermind, I’ll be done in a few minutes, there’s a fabric shop we have to go to in Seoul. It’s ---“
“What’s the name in the GPS?” Jungkook cuts him off.
“Fabric shop with cute owner” whispered Taehyung
“What?”
“Fabric shop with cute owner!” he says in an embarrassed tone and Jungkook can’t help but laugh this time. “Whatever just wait for me downstairs.” Taehyung sighs, gathering up his briefcase and coat.
