Chapter Text
Nico didn’t need more time in the infirmary. He hadn’t needed three days in the infirmary to begin with, but Will kept finding excuses to keep him there. Nico wasn’t complaining. Both of them had crushes on the other, but neither had the courage to ask the other out. Will thought it was way too soon, and Nico was still trying to get used to the idea the he could feel this way. Obviously this meant that they spent all of their time together when Will wasn’t working. Nico had started teaching Will how to play Mythomagic, and Will started showing Nico all of the musicals he could find; both movies and illegally filmed copies of Broadway musicals he had saved. Nico claimed to hate them but Will caught him on multiple occasions singing some of the songs.
Three days had turned into a week and they’d gotten used to being around each other almost constantly, and if Nico was being honest, he didn’t want to go back to his dark, dreary, and lonely cabin. Not when he gotten so used to having Will around. Will didn’t want Nico to leave either so they devised a plan. Will would ask Chiron if Nico could stay in the infirmary for two more weeks.
It had been a success. Chiron had said yes, and the two continued their routine. Will still couldn’t even come close to beating Nico at Mythomagic. Nico had watched all of the musicals that Will had downloaded, so Will introduced him to magic of Netflix; which Will’s mom insisted on paying for. That was something they could do together indefinitely with the amount of content that was avablibe to them.
It had been almost two weeks since then, though. It was obvious that there was nothing wrong with Nico anymore. Chiron had humored Will the first time because he thought it might be good for Nico to engage in social activities for a while, but he could do that outside of the infirmary now that he was healed.
Chiron was just about to walk over to the infirmary and tell the two of them this when Will entered the Big House.
“Hey Chiron, Nico still isn’t looking completely solid, I think he should stay in the infirmary another week.”
Chiron sighed. “Do you really think that’s necessary, Will? Nico looked fine the last time I stopped by.”
“Please, it’s obvious they’re up to something in that medical tent,” Mr. D poked his head around the corner to point out, before disappearing into the next room again.
Will blushed faintly. Neither of them had started anything; something Will wished desperately to change. However, he was to nervous to make the first move.
“Sir, in my medical opinion as top healer, I assure you that Nico di Angelo needs at least another week under my care for his own health. I assure you there is nothing ‘going on in that medical tent’ besides healing.”
Mr. D’s snort was audible from the other room, but he gave no further input. It was obvious he still thought that there was something going on. This caused Will to get lost in his thoughts for a moment. Am I really that obvious? he thought. Does Nico not like me? Is he straight?
Chiron sighed again. Will wasn’t making this easy. If he denied his request and something did turn out to be wrong with Nico…
Well, the results wouldn’t be good to say the least. He’d probably end up accused of being unfit to lead camp, and then everything would turn into a complete disaster.
“Are you absolutely sure that Nico hasn’t been healed completely?”
Will didn’t answer, still lost in thought.
“SOLACE!” Mr. D yelled, apparently still keeping tabs on the conversation.
“Y-yes?!” Will looked like a deer in headlights as he was pulled from his thoughts.
“I asked if you were sure that Nico wasn’t completely healed,” Chiron repeated.
Will nodded. “Absolutely. At least another week. Possibly more. I’ll keep you updated.”
“Fine. Nico di Angelo is allowed to stay in the infirmary for one more week to make sure he is completely healthy, but after that week is up, he is to return to his cabin. I should expect he shouldn’t need to go to infirmary for a while after.”
Will opened his mouth to protest, but decided not to push his luck.
“Yes, Chiron, thank you. I’ll make sure Nico is properly taken care of,” he replied, with a thankful smile, instead.
Chiron could hear Mr. D snickering as he repeated “properly taken care of” to himself as Will left the Big House. He ignored it. He could only take so much from these campers after all.
