Work Text:
Sunlight filtered in through half drawn curtains, bathing the bedroom in the pale early morning light. The sheets on the bed rustled slightly as the man underneath them grumbled and moved about to pull the blanket further over his head. Sighing, he stretched an arm out to wrap around his wife’s body, starting slightly when he was met with empty air. He patted the spot a few times; sleepy mind still trying to register that you weren’t lying next to him as he lifted his head to search the room. Blinking sleep from his eyes, he scanned the dimly light room, confusion on where you had gone drifting through his head until he heard movement behind the closed bathroom door. A soft smile graced his face before turning to alarm as the sound of gagging reached him. Tossing aside the blankets, he stumbled over his own feet, his body still slightly asleep and not quite ready for quick movement, in his haste to get to you. Flinging open the door and squinting at the assault of bright light, he quickly glanced at your form huddled over the toilet before reaching out and gently taking hold of your hair, pulling it back from your face. You coughed and grunted, clearing your throat before looking back at him with a pained smile.
Yoongi gently rubbed your back and held your hair as you cradled the toilet for a few minutes longer, gauging to see if your body was going to try and toss up more or if it was just going to be a swirl of nausea. Deciding it was the later, you sighed and leaned back on your heels as Yoongi straightened from leaning over you and filled up a glass from the bathroom sink before passing it to you.
“You should have woken me up if you were feeling sick.”
You drank greedily from the glass, washing out the sour taste from your mouth, and spat out the water. “I was a little more concerned with getting to the bathroom. Besides, I can’t believe you didn’t wake up anyways- I’m pretty sure I knocked over a lamp to get here.”
Yoongi’s eyebrows rose up before he glanced out into the bedroom, a thoughtful ‘huh’ escaping him as he failed to see the light in its usual spot on the nightstand. You chuckled, placing the empty glass on the table and moved past him into the bedroom to start getting ready for the day. Yoongi quickly grabbed your wrist, pulling you to a stop.
“Hey, should you really be moving around much? Maybe we should go see a doctor today.”
“Yoongi, please, there’s no need to worry. It’s just a little morning sickness, completely normal.”
His eyebrows furrowed. “If it’s ‘morning’ sickness, then why were you throwing up the other afternoon? That’s not normal, is it?”
You rolled your eyes but was touched that he was worrying so much. “They just call it that, but it can happen at any time. There are a lot of factors that go into feeling nauseous, from smells to stress to just being dehydrated. There’s really nothing to worry about.”
Yoongi was silent for a moment, his fingers trailing down your wrist until they threaded through yours. “Fine, if you say it’s alright. Are you sure there’s nothing I can do?”
“Well, the OB-GYN doctor said I should take care to eat simple meals throughout the day to keep my stomach settled, and drink plenty of water. Plus just relaxing, but it’s good to get outside for fresh air too.”
Yoongi nodded. “Breakfast it is then. Simple meals? I think there’s some bread for toast somewhere.” He gently kissed your temple before heading out towards the kitchen (making a pit-stop to put the lamp back on the nightstand). You quickly made the bed and picked up some clothes dropped the previous day before following after your idol husband. Giggling a little at the sight of him still in his pjs, making breakfast with his hair a mess and a little smile on his face while he worked, you snapped a photo to capture the cute moment before bouncing to the counter, taking a seat on one of the barstools. Yoongi passed you a cup of orange juice with the soft command of ‘drink’ before he turned back to making breakfast. You sipped on the juice and scrolled through your notifications on various social media before pulling up the photo you had taken of Yoongi.
Said man stepped around the counter with two plates in hand, placing one in front of you while he looked over your shoulder at your phone.
“Are you going to post that?”
“Absolutely! Your fans love seeing this domestic side of you. Plus Jin. I think he likes living vicariously through our pictures judging by how much he coos over them.”
Yoongi rolled his eyes. “Doesn’t he have his own wife for that…?”
You laughed and shrugged, taking a bite out the buttered toast your cute husband had made. A little underdone, still more like just bread than toast, but you appreciated the effort. He had cut up some fruit for you as well and your heart warmed with the thought of his little efforts to make sure you were eating healthy. He was always thoughtful and caring, but recently every little thing he did made your heart soar. You blamed the hormones.
(“You’re probably going to have a girl judging by how emotional you are lately.”
“Oh I don’t know Hobi, it could be a boy. A cute, sensitive, sunshine of a boy~ like his uncle!”
Hoseok erupted into a blushing mess while Yoongi broke into a wide, gummy smile.
“Now that wouldn’t be too bad,” he teased as Hoseok flailed around in flattered embarrassment.”)
Finishing your food and placing the dishes in the washer, you and Yoongi made your way to the couch to cuddle and be lazy for a while. The morning passed quickly with Yoongi asking if you were still feeling all right every half hour and making sure you were drinking plenty of water. His manager called around 10am to remind him they were practicing at a studio downtown today and he sighed as he hung up.
“You don’t need to wait on me all day you know. I’ll be fine, promise.”
He shot you a stare before sighing in defeat, standing. “I know, but I’ll still worry. Keep your phone near you all right? I’ll only feel better leaving you if I can at least hear your voice reassuring me you’re still ok.”
You blushed, cursing the man in your head for his smooth words, and nodded, showing him your phone to prove it was still near you. Satisfied, he quickly left for the bedroom and got ready for the day, moving back to the couch to give you a goodbye kiss and to remind you to keep drinking water. You told him he was going to be late and to pick up crackers and more bread on the way home.
Sighing, you drifted off into a light slumber in the quiet of the now empty house. Since it had been a few years since BTS had really hit it big, the hype of the handsome boy band had died a little as the younger, new fans were more interested in the younger groups, which gave the guys more free time, something they were actually pretty happy about. Many of them had gotten married or were dating; their personal lives no longer under constant scrutiny from the media and their fans. Jin and Taehyung were pursuing their acting careers as well while Yoongi was able to spend more time producing and composing since they weren’t on tour for months on end anymore. That didn’t mean they weren’t still busy as BTS, oh no, that wasn’t the case at all. Right now the guys were discussing their new album under a contract with an American record company. There were heavy discussions going on about the content of the album and Yoongi had spent many a late night with the guys and manager figuring out their songs and working on the music.
“So much for having weekends with my husband,” you muttered to yourself, pouting.
Feeling a little restless, you stood up and opened the living room curtains fully, admiring the warm sunlight as it lit up the quiet street. You and Yoongi had found a nice place near a park where he could go and sit in when in need of inspiration and you loved people watching in it. Smiling, you went to change, pulling on some shorts and one of Yoongi’s worn sweaters, before heading outside for a little walk.
The sound of people talking and the light ringing of bicycle bells surrounded you as you stepped out of the apartment, crossing the street to the large park. Even though it was in the middle of the city, the park was always so peaceful and quiet. Tall trees lined a lake with various tables set up around it where families and groups of friends sat at, laughing and sharing lunch. You walked the length of the lake before sitting at a bench on the side, watching the ducks pass by. Reveling in the peacefulness, you almost missed your phone vibrating in your pocket.
“Hello?”
“How are you feeling?”
You smiled at his directness. Not even a hello for his wife-! “Not even a hint of nausea.”
A soft sigh came from the phone. “That’s good to hear, I’m glad.” A pause. “What is that? Are those birds I hear? Where are you?”
“I’m at the park for a little fresh air.”
“The doctor said you should rest.”
“Rest from stress, which I have none. And this is restful! I’m sitting by the pond just people watching. It’s so beautiful out here.”
The other line was silent but you weren’t concerned. You knew Yoongi was probably imagining you out there right now, the entire picture of the lake with the people walking by, the sunlight, and the birds, currently being formed in his mind. He finally hummed lightly, and you could practically see the content smile forming on his face. “As long as you’re feeling ok, I guess.”
“How is it going over there? Have you gotten the tracklist figured out yet?”
“We still have to choose 3 more songs out of 5 we have written, but they’re all good so whichever ones the others end up choosing I’ll be happy with.”
You smiled- of course they were good. Yoongi was amazing with coming up with meaningful lyrics and vibrant music. “I’m glad. Does that mean you’ll be home for dinner? Not another all-nighter?”
“Nah, I’ll be home. Maybe even earlier than usual.”
“Really?? Then maybe I should make something nice. Jin gave me some new recipes last week I was thinking of trying out.”
“That sounds great. But don’t do anything too hard and over-exert yourself. Do I need to pick anything up on my way home? Besides crackers and bread.”
You grinned, “No, no, just your cute self please!”
A scoff echoed in your ear. “You’re the cute one in this relationship, and I have the agreement of 6 other guys to back me up so don’t fight me on that one.”
You laughed, blushing slightly. “Fine, fine, I concede. I am the cute one~!”
“Exactly.” A smile in his voice. “Now get home before the sun starts to go down and it gets cold. Knowing you, you’re probably just in shorts and one of my shirts.”
“One of your sweaters actually.”
“Babe…”
“Alright, alright, I’m going. Hey, Yoongi? I love you.”
“I love you too. Be home soon.”
