Atsushi purrs. Dazai can't help but find this adorable.
Unfortunately, the slightest touch will make the purring stop. Sometimes neutralizing other people's gifts could be kind of a downer. This was definitely one of those times.
But sometimes things worked out just right and Dazai could indulge a bit. Occasionally they would be laying in bed, cuddled close but have no direct contact, and Atsushi's purring would start. It'd usually be in the dead of night when they were both asleep when the low vibrations would begin coming from the younger man. Dazai was pretty sure Atsushi wasn't even aware that he was doing it.
The low rattling noise would always wake Dazai up no matter how sound asleep he was. He didn't mind, though. He cherished these brief moments, feeling the vibrations through the sheets between them, curling as close as possible to him without letting their skin touch....
He'd fall back asleep to that beautiful calming sound.
When morning came they'd undoubtedly be tangled up together again, a mess of limbs wrapped around each other as they both slowly woke up. There'd be no more purring then. But that was alright. He got to enjoy his second favorite thing about being with Atsushi.
"Good morning, Atsushi," he said, pressing his lips softly to the younger man's forehead.
"Hm," he moaned slightly. "Five more minutes."
Dazai chuckled. "Okay. Five more minutes."
Atsushi curled up impossibly closer, tucking his head below Dazai's chin, and dozed off once more.
There's be no more purring this morning, but being able to hold Atsushi close was worth the sacrifice.
