Work Text:
JIN
Jin knew that something was different. He couldn’t exactly pinpoint the moment, when he first realised it, but after a while he was sure something changed in the relationship between Taehyung and Jungkook.
It wasn’t something crucial, it was slowly and almost invincible but there was a change.
Jin knew that, from the start, even before their debut, Tae and Jungkook had always had a great relationship. Whilst Tae was practically always speaking, loud and laughing, their maknae hadn’t always been as open as he was now. He was shy and could barely speak in front of people, yet alone sing. Jin knew, that being friend with not only Tae but the rest of their group helped the youngest to be more confident. But, after all, he also knew that Tae left the greatest impact and helped Jungkook the most.
That’s why Jin probably didn’t realised the change between the two of them for a long time.
After all, Taehyung had always been comfortable with touching or hugging others, especially Kookie. He looked after the maknae, made him smile when he was sad and comforted him. And after a while the youngest opened up – shared hugs with Tae (and the rest of the group), leaned on their shoulders and was more confident with himself.
The first time, the oldest of the group saw a slight change between the two and realised it (because, honestly, he probably already saw one but was too dumb to actually think it was something important) was during one evening in their dorm.
He cooked dinner for all of them, like he usually did, when they had time, which got him the name “group mom” after all. Yes, those six brats where his and only his children and he loved each and every one of them very much. Even the ARMY started calling him the mom of BTS and it somehow made Jin very proud. Why shouldn’t he? All of them were amazing and he cared so much about them, like they were his own children. And the six kind of accepted their fate and new mom, the only one who complaint from time to time was Yoongi but he could easily be convinced otherwise.
When dinner was ready and Jin finally managed to convince Namjoon and Hobi to set the table, he ordered Jungkook to get the other three so that they’d finally eat. He put the food on the table at the exact moment, when the rest of the group entered the room.
Yoongi looked like his nap was interrupted, which probably was the truth anyways. His hair was messy and his eyes more sleepy than normal. Beside him Jimin smiled and greeted the rest, who were already sitting and waiting. Both of them sat down on their places immediately.
Behind them, Taehyung and Jungkook entered the room, both smiling brightly and looking at each other. One of them (Jin guessed Tae) probably said something funny and when one of them smiled, it was like the other one did it too, automatically.
Tae’s arm around Kookie’s shoulder wasn’t anything unusual at all. They did that all the time, so Jin didn’t look twice. If he had, he’d probably seen the way, Tae’s hand softly caressed Jungkook’s neck some seconds after. Both of them greeted the others and also sat down.
Jin was sitting at the head of the table, since he was the oldest and their official mom, in front of him Namjoon, because he was the leader and had the unofficial official name dad. The place to Jins right was for Hobi, next to him sat Yoongi. The other side of the table was the maknae side. Jimin to Namjoons side, in the middle Taehyung and finally the youngest Jungkook.
Somehow their sitting arrangement never changed over the years. It’d always been like that and Jin liked it. He liked that he was sitting in front of Namjoon and beside him the actual human embodiment of the sun and his smallest, no, his youngest child. That was his personally way, to look after Kookie – during meal time.
After a short period, where nobody spoke and everyone just quietly enjoyed their meal, Jin finally spoke. “So, how was everybody’s day?”
The spent the day separately, so he was curious. It was one of their rare days off and usually nobody did much.
“I worked at some rhymes” Everybody turned their head towards Yoongi. No that was unusual, the second oldest normally didn’t speak first.
“You did?” asked Namjoon curiously and smiled bright. Everyone knew, and loved, Yoongi’s rhymes, he was talented, that’s for sure.
“Yes”, was the short answer from him.
“Hyung, you should take a break for once. You always work”, implied Jimin, Jin had to nod. “That’s why you’re always so tired.”
“Okay”, simple answer from the simple man. But he sent a short smile towards Jimin. “Okay, next one. What did you do today, Hobi?”
Next to him, the sun, smiled and started. “I slept till twelve, then I ate something, then I went to Chimchim to see what he’s doing and we watched a movie. After that I took a nap.”
“Wow, that’s rather… interesting”, laughed the leader of the group and started to tell the others about his day. Didn’t do much, really. Read a book, thought about lyrics and cuddled with Jin. Yep, a typical day in the life of the famous Rap Monster.
The others, completely happy and cooing to their two friends, or, like they like to call them, their “parents” weren’t really focusing on anything else. Jin just blushed a little bit and tried to look anywhere but nowhere.
That was the moment when he saw the small touch between the two youngest. Tae wasn’t really looking at Kookie and the maknae didn’t look at the older too, both of them listened to Jimin’s story about his day (which was the most interesting one, after all), but somehow Tae’s hand found Jungkook’s and slightly touched it. Jin almost didn’t notice this time either. But then there was the reaction from the youngest, his fingers slightly lifting so their hands brushed together a little bit more.
It could be a normal reaction, thought Jin at first. He’d probably do the same, if that happened to him. They knew each other pretty well and it wouldn’t be the first time to hold hands with one another. But the reason why he noticed this touch, more than usual was the moment after.
Jin lifted his head and looked at both Tae’s and Jungkook’s expressions and… after that small touch both had a little smile on their lips. A sweet smile, an almost invincible smile, a true smile.
Jin looked away. In that moment he knew, something was different. Of course he could be wrong, but after that he looked at the two youngsters a little bit differently.
*
It was almost a week later, when Jin noticed the different atmosphere between his two youngest children again.
They had dance practice and all of them were exhausted. They did a run through of some of their songs just to remember them, it’d been two hours now and they had a small break to recover. The whole group was sitting on the floor, well, beside Yoongi who just laid there and took a nap, and ate and drank. Jimin was playing some kind of game with Hoseok and Namjoon, Tae and Kookie watched them. Jin watched them too, it was funny and entertaining, how Joonie lost almost every time and the other cracked up because of it. Though after a while his attention shifted from the three to the two boys sitting behind them.
It was nothing unusual, again, that Jungkook sat between Tae’s legs while the older one had his hands wrapped around him. No, they did that all the time. What got Jin’s attention was that Tae played with the maknaes ear and hair and the smile he had on his lips while doing so.
Jin himself smiled a little bit at the sight of the two. They were kind of adorable. And with kind of he meant, that they were fricking cute.
Tae’s smile was loving and caring and his eyes were glued to Kookie. The younger sat there quietly for some seconds, but after a while his lips also formed a smile so sweet, Jin could cry. For some minutes they just sat there, both smiling and Jin thought it couldn’t get any cuter.
That was the moment when Taehyung leant towards the younger and whispered something in his ear. And within a seconds Jungkook’s smile shifted into a big grin as he turned his head to look directly into Tae’s eyes. Both grinned like crazy, while staring into each other’s eyes with such intensity that Jin had to look away. It was different from the way they usually stared.
He didn’t want to interrupt their moment. Jin just smiled and focused on his other friends instead, sometimes sneaking glances at the two youngest, but they didn’t notice. Both of them were in their own little world.
Taehyung smiling the whole time with this sweet, caring and loving expression never leaving the focus off Jungkook. Nudging his head into the crock of his neck from time to time and even pressing one or two small kisses on the shoulder of the younger.
And Jungkook sitting between the other’s legs, leaning against Tae’s chest. Also smiling and turning his head every now and then to look into the others eyes. A little blush on his cheeks whenever Tae pressed his lips against his skin.
Gosh, they were adorable.
Jin smiled knowingly. How could the other member not see the chemistry between them? Well, it was their secret and if they were ready, they would tell them.
JIMIN
How did nobody notice?
That was the one question Jimin asked himself every time he looked at his best friend Taehyung and Jungkook.
How did seriously nobody fucking notice the way the two of them were? Did the others just assume that the two youngest had always been like that or were they simply just blind?
Jimin didn’t have a goddamn clue, but he knew, for sure, that the two younger boys were more than just friends. Heck, more than best friends, if you wanted to go there.
He knew Tae better than the rest of the group. That was because they lived together, shared hotel rooms and had been best friends almost since they first met. Jimin told Tae everything and vice versa.
Well, at least he had told him everything before. Jimin was pretty sure that his best friend never mentioned his big crush on the maknae of the group in one of their late night talks before.
He didn’t have to, tho. Jimin realised it probably even before his best friend did, knowing how oblivious Tae was to this kind of stuff (feelings, that is). He could see the way Taehyung looked at the group members, each and every one of them. But the way he looked at one of them was different from the rest. When Tae looked at Jungkook his expressions turned softer, more caring and loving.
He looked like the sappy idiot he was and gave Kookie love-eyes all the time.
During their usual dinner or lunches, when all of them are eating and talking casually, Tae sometimes just stares at the youngest for some moments, smiling to himself, before turning away. The smile still on his lips.
Running to Kookie, when something great happened and telling the younger about it with so much excitement and joy. Eyes sparkling and his smile so bright that it actually blinded Jimin.
Or when the group just relaxed on the evenings, watching a movie or playing a game: Tae sitting next to Jungkook, both of them forming a team or at least helping each other during the game. Their giggles all the time, leaning towards each other, whispering into each other’s ears, so nobody could hear them. Sometimes Kookie blushing slightly and looking at Tae with an unreadable expression.
And even though, this all could sound like they were just really really close friends, it all was accompanied by the smiles. On both sides. Sweet, caring, loving.
Jimin didn’t wanted to press Taehyung into talking with him about his feelings for Jungkook. He didn’t ask “So, do you have a crush at the moment?” during one of their “best friends nights”. He didn’t ask if Tae thought that Kookie looked good in his recent Instagram picture.
What he did was hinting. Throwing in small comments about the two of them, asking what they did in their free time and listening. If Tae wanted to talk to him about his feelings, he would be there. He would listen and understand and help him, if he wanted him to.
Because that was the type of guy Jimin was. An actual angel, as the other members would tell him all the time. And if Tae wanted to talk to him, that was great, and if he didn’t want to, that was fine too.
Jimin just waited and watched his best friend and the baby of the group quietly and supported them where he could.
*
“… so all I said was ‘so it’s fine, if I leave now?’ and they were like ‘uhm, sure I guess, you’re done here’ and that’s how I finally got a whole afternoon for myself”, Tae finished his story and grinned like a little kid that just told his parents that he won a game in school today. It was one of those nights, where both man would stay up a little later than usual and talk about everything. They did that all the time, at least once a week. It was a best friend thing and normally started with snacks and telling the other how their day was, if they spent it separately like that day.
Jimin smiled and held out the bowl of popcorn so his best friend could take some. “That’s awesome! I wish my vocal coach would be distracted once. I seriously need a free afternoon, otherwise I will probably die.”
“Well”, Tae giggled and munched the popcorn. “But you are allowed to leave dance practice earlier, at least sometimes. I always have to stay till the very end.”
“Don’t be jelly, Tae”, laughed the older and ate some popcorn before continuing. “So, what did you do on your afternoon off?”
Taehyung was quiet for a moment, probably thinking, before answering. “I went back home, threw on some comfy cloths and took a nap.”
That was just so… Yoongi-like. Jimin laughed. “That’s all? Very interesting.”
“No, no” Tae threw himself against his pillow and closed his eyes for a few moments. Jimin saw a smile creeping onto his face. A smile, he knew all to well. Before Tae could even tell him, what he did after taking a nap, he already knew it involved a particular person. Yes, Jimin was observant, he knew the smile and the look on Taehyung’s face probably the best. That was the face he made when he talked to Jungkook, talked about Jungkook or just thought about Jungkook. Holy hell, his best friend was so whipped for the youngest.
“I took a nap”, repeated Taehyung as he opened his eyes again, now watching Jimin, who was sitting across from him, eating the popcorn they made.
“You took a nap”, echoed Jimin grinning.
Tae glared at him but didn’t say anything about it. “Yes. But after an hour or so, I woke up and I was really hungry so I went to the kitchen and guess who I found at the kitchen, looking in the fridge to find something eatable?”
Jungkookie.
“No idea, who’d you find?”, asked Jimin playing clueless.
Tae’s smile got brighter again when he told him the obvious answer. “Jungkookie. So, I walked up to him and asked if we have something to eat and he’s like ‘If you want to have kale and barbecue sauce than yes’ and I’m like: ‘Who the fuck bought kale?’”
“Jin bought it, I think”, said Jimin and shrugged. “Since he’s the only one who goes shopping regularly and cooks for us.”
Tae rolled his eyes. “Of course, mom bought it, that question was sarcasm, Chimchim.”
I know. Is what Jimin wanted to say, but he didn’t want to interrupt Tae’s story any further. Obviously the whole kale incident leaded to something more enjoyable.
“Okay, whatever”, was all the older one said and also rolled his eyes. “Go on then. What did you and our small, precious Kookie do?”
“We went out to get us something to eat. Probably some take out ramen or anything unhealthier than kale, which is, almost everything, to be honest”, told him Tae. And if his smile was bright before, it got even brighter now. Jimin had no idea how this worked. How did he do that? The smile was so radiant like he stared at the sun. Gosh, Tae was seriously whipped.
“And?” God, yes, Jimin was a little bit on edge. Maybe his best friend would finally tell him about his crush. Maybe he would hint it a little, so he could ask about it. Maybe he would slip and verify Jimin’s observations.
“We somehow ended up at a karaoke bar, Chim”, he laughed. His eyes crinkled and he threw his head into his neck for a short moment. “Can you believe it? At an afternoon, where I don’t have any vocal lessons, I end up at karaoke!”
Now, Jimin was laughing to. It was ironical. Yes, that’s for sure. Tae would probably never end up there alone or with any other member. But with Kookie? Heck, he would probably fly to Japan, if the younger asked nicely.
Jimin could almost see the scene in front of him. Both man walking around the city, full and happy from the meal, laughing, and walking really close to each other. Maybe Tae even got the courage to put an arm around the younger’s waist or shoulder, like he did every now and then. Then they reached a karaoke bar, Kookie’s eyes lightening up in excitement and dragging Tae inside. First, the older one would be a little bit bored but then he would look at the younger and smile this sickly cute smile and join the fun as excited as Jungkook.
It’d probably went like this.
“Was it fun?” Jimin smiled and put down the bowl. He’d eaten all the popcorn and now his tummy hurt a bit, but that wasn’t really important right now.
“Was it fun?”, repeated Taehyung the question and rolled his eyes. “Of course it was! Kookie and I kept singing girl group songs and doing the choreography too! We were there for over two hours.”
“That’s really great, Taetae. I’m glad you had fun”
“Of course I had fun. You should’ve seen Jungkookie, he was in his element. Really cute how he did all the dances. Could’ve watched him do that forever.”
The last sentence was just a mumble but Jimin heard it anyway.
Yes, that was his confirmation. This guy was totally whipped.
NAMJOON
Yes, you could say, that he was, indeed, oblivious as fuck.
He didn’t really think anything was different the way Taehyung and Jungkook acted around each other. He didn’t think that it was abnormal, that it was different from the way they acted with the other members.
Tae always clings on everyone and hugs all of them almost equally, the only exception would be Yoongi if he wasn’t in a good mood. Tae had always been like that. The only thing that was a little bit different when he did something was, that he was sometimes more careful. Not because the younger one couldn’t handle it otherwise, but Namjoon thought, that it was because, after all, Jungkook was still the youngest and their small baby bunny.
Jungkook wasn’t as clingy as Tae though, in the beginning he was so shy and didn’t even wanted to sing in front of them. But now he was comfortable around them, his arms sometimes around one of his hyungs and smiling almost all the time.
So no, Namjoon didn’t really think something was different between them. So yes, maybe that was because he wasn’t really good with seeing others feelings. Or maybe he was just clumsy in all ways. Well it wasn’t important anyways.
He didn’t see any difference between those two.
So one day, it was one of those rare days, where they had enough time to cook for themselves and Jin had been standing in the kitchen for almost two hours now to prepare their “family dinner”, Namjoon was the one to find all the members to tell them, dinner was ready.
He found Jimin and Yoongi in the living room, where the younger one helped the other with one of their new dances. He showed Yoongi some parts so the other could dance and remember them better. They both looked tired but nodded and headed to the kitchen.
Namjoon continued his route, found Hoseok in his room where he cleaning up, with a smile on his lips he also left for the kitchen.
The only two who were missing now, were Taehyung and Jungkook. Namjoon first looked in Kookie’s room but no one was there, that’s why he immediately went to his and Tae’s room. He’d probably find both of them there. They always play games together or watched an anime at this time anyways.
The leader of the group opened the door of his and Tae’s shared room but he didn’t expect complete silence in it. Usually you’d hear the sound of the TV or the radio or at least their voices. But that day it was just quiet.
First, Namjoon didn’t even see them. He first looked in the direction of the TV but no one was sitting in front of it. He sighed and looked around. That’s when he saw small movements in Tae’s bed under the blanket.
Was Tae sleeping? Well, it was a exhausting day but where could Kookie be then?
His answer to both questions were answered, after he stepped in front of the bed to find both boys under the blanket. Both of them snoring quietly and having those cute, sleepy expressions on their faces.
It was really cute.
Kookie lied on his back one hand around his tummy the other one under Tae’s head. Tae curled up against the younger boy his hands wrapped Jungkook while his head lied on the others arm, almost in the crook of his neck.
Namjoon smiled. They looked really peaceful and it hurt him, that he had to wake them up. It was unusual to see both of them at this time of the day sleeping, cause usually they were full of energy.
He sighed again and leaned down to slightly shake Tae’s shoulder. “Hey, Tae, wake up. Dinner’s ready.”
The younger boy just grumbled and pressed his body closer to Jungkook’s.
Again, Namjoon shook him. This time with more force. “Come on, Tae. Kookie.”
“Five more minutes”, was the quiet answer from the boy.
“Jin prepared dinner and you know how he is”, said Namjoon and shrugged. “He made your fav though.”
That’s what got Tae. Slowly he opened his eyes and blinked a few times before he turned his head slightly to look at his leader. “He did?”
“Yes”, answered the older. “Are you up now?”
“Yeah”
“Great. Can you wake up Kookie, too?”
Tae grumbled something, turned his head again to look at the maknae, looked at Namjoon again and smiled. “Of course. Give us five minutes.”
“Okay, I’ll tell Jin”, said Namjoon and smiled too. He turned around and quietly left the room. He was through the door within seconds. If he’d been a little bit slower, he would probably have heard Tae’s quiet voice whispering: “Wake up, honey.”
But he didn’t and that’s why Namjoon didn’t think anything was different at all.
*
When Namjoon noticed there was something going on between Jungkook and Taehyung it was quite obvious. He usually didn’t grasp stuff like that, like the other’s did, but this time it would have been impossible if he hadn’t. It had been two weeks since his waking up action and in that time he was as oblivious as ever.
“Hey, hey, Kookie”
That was the first thing that got Namjoon’s attention. He was sitting in the kitchen, eating a bowl of cereal while looking through his social media. He could glance at the living room, where he just heard the voice.
“Yes, Tae?” came the immediate answer from the maknae. Namjoon looked up to see the two youngest of the group in the living room. Jungkook was sitting on the couch, Tae standing in front of him, smiling brightly like he usually did. Namjoon always wondered how that was possible for him. He smiled like it wasn’t eight o’clock in the morning on a Monday. It was really incredible.
“I can fit an entire universe inside my hands”, stated the older of the two and grinned smugly.
“What?” was the simple answer from Jungkook as he squinted his eyes in question.
There were a few seconds neither of them spoke or did anything. Then, just in one swift move, Tae held Kookie’s head between his hands. Their faces centimetres away.
“Oh my god, Tae!” Suddenly Jungkook erupted in laughter and soon Tae joined him. “That was such a horrible pick-up line. Where did you find it?”
“Someone told me, and I decided to tell the world”, answered Taehyung this time with a sweet smile.
That was the moment when Kookie’s cheeks burned up. He opened his mouth but instantly closed it again, before opening again. “Oh god, that was so smooth.”
Namjoon silently watched and smiled a little. Was that a regular thing the two of them did? Telling each other pick-up lines? Did he miss something?
“I’m always smooth, babe”
Namjoon coughed. Yes, he definitely missed something.
Was he really this blind that he didn’t see that there was something going on between two of his band members? And then also the two who were both so obvious sometimes. He was not only clumsy but apparently he was oblivious too. Nice to know, thought Namjoon. Or- Tae just called the younger that, to tease him even more.
“Shh”, shushed the younger one and looked around. Probably scared that someone heart them. Well, too late now, Kookie. Also, that meant that “babe” wasn’t just simple teasing but a real nickname.
“Nobody up yet, relax”, came Tae’s answer to being shushed. He probably rolled his eyes, if Namjoon had looked.
But the “shh” and the looking from Kookie made him jump up as quiet as he could and exit the kitchen to go back to his room.
He decided to change into his cloths for the day so that he could leave to go to the studio earlier. When he left his room he made a loud noise, so the two youngsters knew, that someone was up. Namjoon entered the empty living room and then the kitchen. Both man sat there talking about the day and when they saw him, they both just said “Good morning” before continuing their conversation. Since Namjoon already ate, he just took a glass of water, drowned it and said goodbye to both of them.
They probably didn’t even realise that, because they were in their own little world while talking to one another.
Namjoon smiled as he left the apartment. And on his way to the studio he could just think about how oblivious he was not even one hour ago.
So many things made sense now. The casual touches between them, their smiles, the way they looked at each other. The way they slept that one time… It made sense now.
Wow, he felt really dumb.
YOONGI
Being a hyung sometimes wasn’t the easiest job. Especially when it involved being a hyung for five dudes who couldn’t get their life together. And also one hyung that was sometimes more maknae then their actual one.
Seriously though, Yoongi loved them very much, even though he didn’t say it that often.
But seeing all of them happy, made himself happy.
That’s why he liked seeing Taehyung and Jungkook playing around. Both young man had this energy that Yoongi sometimes lacked, and when they were together this energy just over flooded everyone including him.
Even before their debut, the second oldest saw the chemistry between the two youngest members. They were always together, basically attached at the hips. The whole maknae line was close, Jimin being the usual cutie he was, Taehyung the crazy alien and Jungkook the baby and golden maknae. Throw the three of them together and it ended in chaos and lack of sleep and really adorable pictures (which the hyung-line had lots of them, saved on their phones).
But the relations between the members where different, when they were just in pairs.
When Taehyung’s with Jimin there is a different kind of friendship, then with Jimin and Jungkook. Tae and Jimin were best friends and Yoongi didn’t really recall why or since when. It just happened some time after they first met, when both decided that they’d be awesome as besties. Maybe it was the birth year, they shared or one peculiar moment, but despite the reason they were besties ever since. Their connection was always there, Jimin cheering on Tae, Tae helping Jimin. Both of them forming teams when they had to. Yes, it was a brotherly love they shared.
Between Jimin and Jungkook it was different. They would both start bickering at each other from time to time, because Kookie’d call Jimin small or Jimin calling him the baby of the group. Yoongi just thought that because of his age Kookie would be the baby and the other baby of the group would be Jimin, because of his cute little baby face, but that wasn’t the point. But even though they bickered they always have each other’s backs. Jimin cuddling Kookie when he could, Kookie telling Jimin that he looked handsome and playing around and let’s all not forget that Jimin always remembered the younger one that he was born in Busan first.
But then there was the relation between Taehyung and Jungkook and this was entirely different, as Yoongi could tell. Like he said before, the two of them had chemistry on a different level.
They could talk without even talking. They sometimes even thought the exact same thing at the same moment. Heck, they probably had some psychic thing going on between them.
Yes, they were pretty close. So close, that Yoongi wouldn’t look twice when he saw both of them cuddled together on the couch in the evening. He wouldn’t think twice when he saw Tae whispering something into Kookie’s ear.
That was, until one day.
“Hyung”, he heard the quiet voice of the maknae. Yoongi lied on his bed, exhausted from the day. He was listening to music, humming and eyes closed. He just wanted to spent some minutes quietly listening, before actually sleeping. But after hearing the younger’s voice, he opened them and looked in his direction.
“Jungkookie?” It was more a statement, then a question. After all the youngest was standing right in front of his bed, his hands slightly shaking. That was the moment, when he knew, something was wrong. “What’s wrong? Did something happen?”
“Can I sit down?”, asked the other boy and looked nervous as hell.
Yoongi sat up and patted the spot next to him. Within a second the maknae sat beside him his knees pulled to his body.
“Hyung?” Again, the slightly shaking voice. Jungkook didn’t even look at him, he just stared at his hands, which were tightly wrapped around his legs.
“Kookie? What’s wrong?” Now Yoongi was really concerned. If the tough, ever challenging Jungkook looked that frightened, something was clearly not right.
Jungkook sighed quietly and closed his eyes. “Can I stay for the night?”
The request confused the older boy. Jungkook was normally not the type of person who would seek help like that. He would quietly try to fix problems by himself. Usually when he came to Yoongi, to ask for something, it was just, when he was too scared to ask anyone else.
“Um, sure”, replied the older and fully turned to him. “But why, Kookie? What’s wrong?”
Again, he sighed. Then he opened his eyes again just to look back at the bed. “There’s a storm outside and I can’t sleep.”
Aww, oh my god. Yoongi barley managed to supress this comment. That was just… too cute. Yoongi wasn’t usually the type that would think stuff like that, but Kookie had a sweet spot inside his heart. He didn’t know how it turned out like this – because after all, he liked all of the other members and cared for them – but somehow when the youngest would request something, he wasn’t one to say no.
“Of course, you can stay”, Yoongi said and somehow managed to get the blanket. Both of them shuffled a little bit, but after a while they were fully covered. In the process Yoongi turned off the music and the lights.
Then, for some minutes, they just laid there, completely quiet. Outside you could hear the storm and the rain against the window.
“Thanks, hyung”, whispered Jungkook after some moments. “Normally I would go to Tae.”
Normally… Oh, that’s right. Taehyung as well as Jin and Jimin where all out for the night. The three had some kind of appointment early in the morning and stayed at a hotel to reach the location faster. But of course, Jungkook would go to Tae first and ask him to stay the night. Wait. Ask?
No, Yoongi thought. He didn’t say ask. He said he would go to Tae.
It probably wasn’t an important detail. After all the two of them where friends and if Jungkook was scared of thunderstorms, it would be a normal process to do after a while right?
“Or Tae would come”, continued the younger boy, now so quietly that Yoongi almost didn’t hear it.
“It’s alright, Kookie. No need to explain yourself”, he said and grabbed the youngers hand. “I’m here for you too. I’m not Tae, but I hope I can help.”
“Thank you, hyung”, came the quite whisper. “I really appreciate it.”
“No problem, Kookie”, replied the older and smiled a little bit. “Try to sleep a little okay. If something happens, wake me.”
“Okay, thank you, again.”
After that, it got quiet. Yoongi lied there, still holding the maknae’s hand, and closed his eyes. He dozed off within minutes, after all it was an exhausting day for him and he needed all the sleep he could get.
Yoongi slept for what felt like seconds, but when he looked at the clock it was three in the morning. Besides him he heart a light snore. First he was a little bit confused, probably because he was still half asleep, but then he remembered that Jungkook asked to stay the night.
Yoongi sighed and closed his eyes again. The breathing beside him helped him to relax even more. He was used to sleeping in a room with the other members and when nobody was breathing he always thought, that something wasn’t right.
He sighed again and started to fall asleep again. That’s when he heard the quiet mumble from the youngest.
“Tae…”
Okay, that wasn’t something unusual, right? Kookie said, that he’d usually sleep with Taehyung during thunderstorms and maybe that was a normal reaction, when someone moved beside him.
Yoongi didn’t think about it twice. Those two where so close after all.
Jungkook turned to his side, now facing towards the older. His eyes still closed and his face relaxed. “Don’t ever… ever… l-leave me.”
Yoongi’s eyes shot open. He turned his head a little bit to look at the younger. In the dark room he couldn’t see everything clearly but he was sure he saw Kookie smiling, while he said the next words. “I love you too, Tae.”
“Kookie…”, Yoongi whispered but no reaction at all. So it was probably a dream or normal mumbling. No, that wasn’t normal. It was different the way Jungkook whispered those words. And in that second, something in Yoongi’s brain clicked and he solved the riddle.
Of course, he thought, how could he not see it, those two were in love.
A smile crept onto his face. So cute, the two youngest falling in love. With that thought, he fell asleep again.
HOSEOK
Hoseok didn’t have any time to find out like the others did. He didn’t catch the two youngest flirting with bad pick-up lines like Namjoon. He didn’t see their touches like Jin. He didn’t listen to Jungkook talking in his sleep like Yoongi. And he certainly didn’t sense things like Jimin did during one of his and Taehyung’s best friend talks.
No, he didn’t see all those small things and puzzled them together. For him it was abrupt and without any warning.
He basically walked in on them, making out on the couch.
Yes, definitely not the best way to find out about a relationship between his friends.
It was a cloudy afternoon and the group had had practice the whole day. At five o’clock, when it finally finished, everyone was just more than ready to finally go home. They left their practice room, and went to their shared apartment. First thing everyone did was taking a shower. Hoseok relaxed under the warm water and his muscles lost tense.
He stepped out of the shower, dried himself, put on some comfy clothes and went to look for the others. Jin and Namjoon were sitting in the kitchen and had some sort of conversation about food. Two seconds listening to the conversation and Hobi knew one thing, they were all too tired to cook.
Two minutes in and they decided that they would go out to eat.
And not even twenty minutes later, four out of seven member stood in front of the building. The fifth, Jimin, was arriving in that exact moment.
“Kookie and Tae say that they aren’t hungry and just want to sleep”, told the smallest of the group and shrugged.
Jin sighed. “Kookie and not hungry? Sounds foul to me, but okay. Let’s just go.”
Nodding from all the sides and the group started to make their way to some kind of restaurant. They were about five minutes away, when Hoseok noticed something was missing.
“Guys”, he stopped walking and touched all his pockets to look if he just put it in the wrong one. “I forgot my wallet.”
The other four stopped walking as well and turned around. Jimin kind of confused, Yoongi sighing. Jin and Namjoon just rolled their eyes.
“I can borrow you the money for the meal, if you want, hyung”, spoke Jimin and smiled shrugging. “No biggie.”
“Thanks, Jiminie. But I’ll run back and catch you later, okay? I don’t like going out without anything”, Hobi said and smiled at the group apologetic. “I’m back in a few, go on without me”
“Okay, hyung”, smiled Jimin and the rest nodded. “We’ll see you there.”
“Right!” Hobi turned around and started to walk back. This time at a slightly faster pace, because he wanted to return as fast as possible. He was hungry after all.
He reached the apartment within two minutes and started to walk towards his and Jimin’s room, when he noticed sounds coming from the living room. He knew that Taehyung and Jungkook stayed behind and one of them was probably lying on the couch right now, watching TV or playing a game. Hobi just shrugged and went to get his wallet. Again, he heard sounds so he walked towards the living room, to ask one (or both) if they really didn’t want anything to eat.
Bad mistake.
He probably was more quiet than usual, because otherwise the two would have probably heard him. But this time, they didn’t.
Hoseok peeked around the corner and… well, to say he was a little bit shocked would be an understatement. He didn’t just find one of the maknaes in the living room, but both of them. Lying on the couch, the TV running with some kind of cartoon in the background. But the real action went on between them.
Kookie lied on top of Tae, Tae’s hands wrapped around the younger’s waist, pressing him to his body. Their lips locked in a heated kiss.
Hobi somehow managed to supress a gasp. Slowly, he backed off and left as quietly as possible.
Holy shit.
Those two…
While he started to walk to the restaurant, that Jimin sent him the address, he just tried to get his act together. Obviously he was happy for them. He always saw the chemistry between them, but he didn’t think that he would find out the way he did.
Making out on the couch…
Hobi just sighed and smiled. He was happy for them, and, when they were ready they would tell them, he knew that. But, for the moment, it would be their secret, they just shared unintentionally with Hoseok.
***
“Guys?” Five pairs of eyes looked up from their food to look at the voice.
It was evening, dinner time, they ordered ramen for all of them and started eating right away. Well, at least they ate till the moment, one of their group members spoke.
“Yes, Tae?” asked Jin and put down his chopsticks. The others did the same, now looking curious at the second youngest and the youngest, who was standing beside him, looking nervous as hell. “And Kookie?”
“Uhm”, there was a small pause before Tae spoke again. He glanced sideways to sneak a small glance at the younger before he turned back to his hyungs. “Uhm… I… we… yeah.. we need to tell you something.”
He didn’t even say anything, what he wanted to tell them, but all five of them already knew what would come next. They all had waited for this moment to arrive after all. Some of them longer, some of them shorter. But they all waited and now the moment was here and their suspicions wouldn’t be suspicions anymore.
“Okay, go on then”, said Jin and smiled at them encouraging.
Taehyung gulped and turned his head to fully look at Jungkook. The maknae was blushing like crazy and avoided everyone’s eyes except Tae’s. After looking at the older boy, he smiled a little bit and blushed even more.
“So uhm” Tae stuttered. He didn’t look quite comfortable to say it, he looked nervous, almost as nervous as he did before their first big concert. He only needed a little push, a little encouragement – and that was, when Jungkook took his hand and pressed it lightly. Within a second Tae looked a little bit more relaxed.
“We decided to wait to tell you this, until we are 150 percent sure of it”, he said and sighed. “Kookie and I… we are together. Like… together together.”
Jungkook let out a small chuckle at his boyfriends words, while the other just stared at them for a few seconds. It was quiet for a moment. Then suddenly…
“I knew it!” shouted the five at the same time, only to look even more confused, because neither of them thought, the others had noticed.
This statement followed a “WHAT?” from all of the boys.
Again, there were a few moments of silence before the youngest started to talk. “Wait. What do you all mean by ‘You knew it’?”
Now it was time for the hyungs to look nervous and avoid eye contact for a solid minute.
“I mean… You were quite obvious. At least Tae was. He’s an open book to me”, explained Jimin to break the awkward silence. Tae just sighed, nodded and sat down, only to pull Jungkook onto his lap a moment later. He wrapped his arms around the younger’s waist, like he did one hundred times before, but now for the first time, where all of them knew, that they were in a relationship.
“Fair enough”, replied Taehyung and giggled a little bit. “But how exactly did you know?”
“The way you look at each other?”, said Jimin more as a question, like it would explain everything. “It’s different from the look you have when you talk to one of us. And also, you are always happy when you just think about Kookie. For goodness sake! You went to karaoke with him, on your free afternoon!”
“Yes you did”, laughed Jungkook and snuggled closer to his boyfriend, which earnt them a small “Awww” from Jin.
“And how did the rest of you notice?” asked Taehyung out of curiosity. “I mean, we really tried to hide it.”
“Yeah, tell us”, demanded Jungkook and looked at Jin. “How did you know, Jin-hyung?”
“Also the way you looked at each other and smiled. And one time during dance practice, when you sat like that, Tae kept kissing your shoulder, so yeah”, explained Jin and laughed because Tae blushed like crazy while mumbling “I thought, no one looked”.
“The time, you slept in my bed because of the thunderstorm and Taehyung wasn’t there”, said Yoongi, who sat next to Jin and smiled. “You talk in your sleep and kind of mentioned, that you love Tae.”
“Awww, Kookie that’s so cute!” exclaimed Jin and Tae at the same time, the later pressing a kiss to the youngest cheek.
“Oh wait, till you hear how I found out”, said Namjoon snickering. “I couldn’t believe it at first but after all it made sense.”
“Tell us hyung!” demanded Jimin grinning.
“Just four words: bad pick-up lines.”
“Oh my god.” “Seriously guys?” “That sounds just like Tae!”
“Who said it was me, who told the pick-up line?” Taehyung pouted at everyone’s reaction.
Jungkook turned his head to look at the older and smiled warmly. “Sorry, babe, but you’re known for saying weird stuff.”
Tae just pouted again.
“But I love you for that”, said Kookie and pressed a light kiss on his pouting lips.
“Yeah, by the way, kissing, or better making-out on our couch that’s the way I found out”, told Hoseok and rolled his eyes. “Seriously, everyone found out in cute and cheesy ways and I almost walked in on you two. That’s not fair!”
Everyone started laughing at Hoseok’s comment, Jungkook and Tae both blushing. But this whole situation was so absurd. Both of them thought, that the other would be shocked or confused, not that all of them already had a feeling that they had something going on.
It was just absurd, but they all probably noticed because they were around each other almost 24/7.
Jungkook just turned around again to face his boyfriend, before kissing him again for a few brave seconds. Both smiling afterwards.
“Holy shit, they’re so cute!” Jin probably tried to supress this comment, but instead it came out high-pitched and loud.
Again, everyone started laughing.
“Thanks for supporting us, hyungs”, said Jungkook and smiled at the other boys.
All of them smiled back at the two of them. “Of course, you two love birds.”
