A Thousand Touches.

Summary:

“Hey,” Teru replied, what he’d called admiration cracking and crumbling into the adoration and sparkling respect that it was hiding. He always tried to look his best in front of Kageyama, even though the other never really noticed, but still he couldn’t stop himself. “You felt it too, huh?”

Chapter Text

There was a quality to Kageyama, an integral part of his personality, that Teru admired and quietly adored. It was that part of the other psychic that no one could deny or be unaffected by, it was that almost innocent but boundlessly strong resolve that was bound to his gentle and humble beliefs. Teru would never be like that, knew he couldn’t be like that. He was too prideful and too focused on honing his skills. He often envied Kageyama’s simplicity. The grounded and normal goals the other held, while he still aimed for the sky.

They were both rigid in vastly different ways. Kageyama was rigid in his beliefs and the way he’d tirelessly work to make people around him see the good in themselves without even noticing it. Teru, on the other hand, was rigid in his ambitions, the only person he’d accept being above him was Kageyama and he’d only come to accept that after watching the other effortlessly lay waste to enemy after enemy that could have destroyed Teru himself in a heartbeat.

“Hanazawa-kun,” Kageyama announced in his muted tone, almost smiling at the other.

Teru almost always seemed to run into Kageyama when something weird was going on, weird stuck to Kageyama like gum on the bottom of his shoe.

“Hey,” Teru replied, what he’d called admiration cracking and crumbling into the adoration and sparkling respect that he was hiding. He always tried to look his best in front of Kageyama, even though the other never really noticed, but still he couldn’t stop himself. “You felt it too, huh?”
