Summary
In Suna there is no peace – not in the way Shikadai is used to. In the shapes of a wet deer snout tickling his face, in the smell of dew in the morning sticking to high blades of grass. His father sitting on the porch smoking, the soft wood of shoji pieces in his palm – in the shade. Suna has no shade, no coolness, no rest. Here the day is long, there is always movement and he feels it on himself, the tips of his fingers itching, burning to do. And he thinks, he might find it oddly relieving. The tranquilness of their liveliness.
In which, Shikadai is stuck in the desert waiting for his parents to reconcile. Days go by and in the midst of heat waves, he finds himself in a place distinctly familiar and yet so foreign.

Summary
One autumn Friday in 2008, Chloe Price does something spectacularly stupid. Figures she's stupid enough to get herself caught, too. To top things off, it's for a stupid reason she won't readily admit, but then again, Chloe's been stupid about most things, lately.
Chloe's words, not his.
The truth is, his daughter hasn't been particularly good with her decision making for quite some time.
And William Price wants to figure out why.
This story will follow Chloe and Max from just before Max's birthday, a week away from Farewell, all the way to well after the storm, while also taking regular pit stops in Seattle to figure out what Max has been up to these five years.
The story is Soft AU, with the aim to hit all the major story beats until after the storm, and keeping the characters as close to canon as possible. However, there'll be slight changes here and there, and expanding on the world and events that are only canon footnotes to make the world feel richer instead of just the canon play-by-play.

Summary
And there she is again, overlooking Arcadia Bay from the lighthouse, watching as the storm creeps closer and closer to the town. Her heart plummets at the sight, more visceral than it’s ever been for her; she feels like keeling over, throwing up over the side of the cliff, clenching her eyes shut as she clamps her hands over her ears.
A scream tears its way through her throat. Destruction soon follows.
Crimson trickles and drips over the side of the bathtub onto misty linoleum floor, and it takes Max a moment to gather herself. The vision’s faded, gone, at least in the immediate present; Max knows that she’ll be carrying that memory for the rest of her life.
She grips the side of the tub fervently where she’d moments ago been wringing wet soil and grass, hot water cascading over her where she’d moments ago been soaked through with frigid rain.
And none of it is just a bad memory.
