Chapter Text
Living in a society where both technology and magic was used many would say it was a really strong build and rising society which would only get better and make the living more comfortable to the people of this planet. However you had to strongly disagree with this statement as you were deeply aware of all the lies the government tried to tell the world while using their nasty tricks of mind control. Each passing year somehow more knowledge about the world's modern and ancient magic was disappearing from earth surface, meanwhile the biggest companies with the newest technology keep selling more and getting more profit each year. The system kept renewing itself and it kept creating another empire which would be controlled by the rich, it seemed like the effort made by your ancestors would be lost again if nothing would have been done. You could see how the people been keeping enslaved again by their jobs, yet no one seemed to notice anything as the most common practice of all was to chase after your so called soulmate, which the clocks on our hands would lead us to. This managed to stop people from making their own decision about love, as most of them were sitting around looking at their clocks in wait for their destined person. Where sometime you could speed up the progress by buying out the information from the companies that collected info about the time which was left on each single clock they ever made. These were already installed on your arm as fast you were born, with the newest technology and sprinkle of magic it was possible, but you knew it was utter bullshit as you were aware people had many soulmates and it was up to you to choose the most compatible person for yourself.
Of course there were people against it, but because it became so common any other outlook on love was looked down on and shunned away. It became really hard to apply for a marriage with a person that wasn’t chosen by your clock, which you found ridiculous. Why would you let such thing decide your destiny in the first place? Sometimes you saw people lying straight to their own self as they tried to convince themselves how madly in love and happy their life was with their soulmate, yet the reality seemed to differ from what they usually tried to make themselves believe.
Despite that your story was quite so different from anybody else, since you were born your clock showed zero, it never started to begin with and in many cases when people found out the truth you had to live like an outcast, as people assumed you must have done something bad in your past life to not deserve a soulmate in the first place. Being in such situation since young age you started to question some things in life so by now you rose to be a leader of a rebellious group that attended illegal magical experiments.
Still, you sometimes wondered whatever you really had no soulmate in this lifetime if the mighty clock itself couldn’t choose just one for the show. Such questions usually lead you to believe that you and any other soulmate meant for you must have been in a really bad fight and so you diss each other and decided to show each other the middle fingers and be reborn in different worlds. Usually, such ideas made you burst out in laughter which immediately managed to cheer you up.
“Are you trying to figure out where your soulmate is again?” your friend asked having realized that you managed to space out again.
“Don’t be silly.” Without even looking at her you started to rise up from your seat which happened to be a hill covered by newly grown grass which smelled wonderful.
“I mean it could be good if you do, maybe you could make a comedy genre book where you describe how each counterpart decided to put their tongues at each other and be like ‘ I don’t need any love’ or where you manage to fight with each soulmate meant for you and suddenly you are left alone where you become an old lady that owns a horde of dogs.” by now your friend was snickering, while you managed to let out a tired sigh.
“Thank you for your input, you want to add anything else?” she just shook her head while trembling from uncontrollable laughter. Reaching for the cloak you soon snatched it from the ground, beginning to make determined steps to your next destination.
“Wait for me!” your female friend yelled out as she started to hurry after you.
“So any specific news?” you questioned understanding she must have arrived and searched for you for a reason.
“It seems like Narkart may have discovered something to upgrade the teleportation spell, so he wants you to be present as the leader of the cult.” You managed to nod your head, surely this could be useful as the teleportation spell usually could only take you as far as few meters if you were lucky and of course you wanted to be able to travel much longer distance.
“Let’s hurry then.” with just this one command you two started to rush like there was no tomorrow, yet still making sure no one was trailing your trail, you didn’t wish for any unwelcome company. After being hundredth percent sure no one was following you, you two rushed to the hideout.
“So what have you found out?” once there you questioned Narkart while he gave you some research papers he has written down under your disappearance.
“Good job, let’s go to the practice room and try it out.” your both friends, as well as coworkers, nodded and so they started to follow you to the room where you usually practiced your new spells inside. Arriving at the door you had to drag the heavy doors away which took some of your stamina already, this made you realized you needed some machines over here which would take care of the problem. Panting heavily you three managed to step inside the room and soon everyone followed your lead by repeating certain words and focusing your thoughts on the task. Once you were ready you three used your magic abilities to convert something.
“Wait this doesn’t seem right!” Narkart yelled out as he noticed how a little explosion inside the room managed to create something similar to a black hole. Being fast on your thought and actions you managed to put a protecting spell on both Alize and Narkart. But it seemed like no energy was left in your body to be able to protect yourself, it all managed to happen in a split of a second, the world you knew disappeared from your eyes and soon you found yourself trapped in eternal darkness. Yet a small light was making rapid progress of moving towards you. Not having any idea what it was you reached out your hands, which only made it appear to move faster towards you. Lastly it suddenly hit you in the face, making you close your eyes due to the irritation the strong gave you. Before you even realized it you were standing with your two feet on the ground.
“Well as I see it it may have succeeded, let’s see where I am.” you told yourself and whatever place you were at you could figure it out it must have been in the middle of a night. Looking at your superficial clock that had more abilities, than just ticking down to the moment you going to meet your soulmate, you had the intention to look at the map. But soon you realized something changed.
“What the?” you asked yourself as you saw the clock slowly starting counting down time.
“It works what the, I have never seen it move in my life!” you outbursted wondering whatever you should be happy or not.
“This can wait.” you told yourself now going into other application to find out the exact position you landed in.
“Um.. Why is error shown?...oh shit it says I’m like way too far away from my home planet...” you let shock appear on your face which was followed by utter amazement.
“Well at least we managed with the teleportation spell, but I ended up coming here alone.” you now realized while a single drop fell from your eye.
