Everyone knows that Jimin is the sweetest and the most caring member in BTS. Yes, he plays pranks on other members, teases them, annoys them, but all of them know that Jimin is where they find comfort. Jimin is always there for them when they needed him the most. Always. No matter how annoying he is, they just can't stay mad at him. He's an angel. At least to Jin, Jimin is his angel.
When Jin is sad or hurt, he will always find his way to Jimin. Because Jimin knows. He always does. And Jimin will give Jin the comfort he wanted, whether it's just in words or a hug or a pat on the shoulder. Those actions might seen little, but they give the biggest comfort to Jin. They give Jin the power to keep going. That's how important Jimin is to Kim Seok Jin.
So Jin spoils Jimin as much as he can. Whenever Jimin asks him to promise him something, Jin will always say yes.
"Jin-hyung, go to the bookstore with me tomorrow?" Jimin once asked. Jin nodded, while playing video games with Taehyung. "Promise?" "I promise." Jin replied.
"Jin-hyung, you will make takoyaki for me, right? Please? Promise me you will make takoyaki, Jin-hyung." Jimin pleaded when he received a takoyaki maker as a gift on a show. Jin chuckled. How could he say no to his angel? No one could say no to this adorable mochi. So Jin ruffled Jimin's hair and replied, "Okay, okay. I promise. But you have to help with the washing."
"It's unfair how you always say 'no' to me and 'yes' to Jimin all the time!" Jungkook complains after Jin refuses to play video games with him. "It's Jimin-hyung!" Jimin corrects him, but Jungkook ignores him anyway. Hoseok laughs. "It's a common fact that Jin likes to argue with you the most, Jungkook-ah." Hoseok adds. "You two are born to annoy each other." Taehyung approaches the four of them after having a glass of chocolate milk in the kitchen. They are having a rare day off, so they're just hanging around in Jimin's and Hoseok's room except Yoongi and Namjoon, who are making music in Yoongi's room. "But I'm bored! And none of you are willing to play with me." Jungkook protests. "Play on your own." Jin says as he puts his head on Taehyung's thigh. "Instead of playing, I want food. We haven't had lamb skewers for such a long time." Hoseok, the sunshine of bangtan, mutters to himself. The others heard him, and immediately nod. And as if they were telepathic, Namjoon and Yoongi come into the room. "Namjoon and I are thinking about lamb skewers. How about you guys?" Yoongi say.
So the seven of them decide to walk to a nearby diner that serves their favorite lamb skewers. Jin walks behind all of them, smiling at the sight of his Bangtan family. "Jin-hyung, faster! I'm so hungry I can eat you right now!" Jungkook turns to see Jin after all of them are already on the other side of the road. "Yeah, even Yoongi-hyung, the grandpa, the turtle, is faster than you, come on, hyung!" Namjoon adds. Jimin and Hoseok laugh at the expression on Yoongi's face. Yoongi looks like he's going to make Cypher pt.5 is about Namjoon. "Okay! Okay!" Jin replies as he crosses the road.
And all of a sudden, just when Jimin thinks that today's gonna be a good day, a truck comes at Jin's way at a high speed despite the red traffic lights signalling all vehicles to stop. The truck keeps honking at Jin, but it happens so fast, Jin doesn't even have the chance to dodge. The truck hits Jin. And after that, all they see is Jin on the ground, with blood forming around him.
It's all chaotic after that. They call for an ambulance and Jin is immediately pushed into an operating room. It turns out that the brake of the truck is broken, and the driver didn't realize it until just now. Namjoon, as their leader, even in this chaotic situation, manages to stay calm and calls BigHit and Jin's family even though he's as worried as the rest of the members. The maknae line are crying while Hoseok tries to comfort them. Yoongi is just sitting quietly with his fingers crossed. Yoongi is praying for Jin even though he isn't a believer. "If there's really a God out there, save him. If there's anyone that has the power to save one's life, save Jin." Yoongi repeats the words in his head. "Promise me you'll be okay, hyung." Jimin says while tears roll down his red cheeks. "He will be okay, Jimin-ah. He will." Hoseok says, trying to comfort Jimin and maybe even himself.
Hours pass and the surgeon responsible for Jin comes out of the operating room. "How is he? Is he okay?" Jimin asks. The surgeon sighs. "He hit his head pretty bad but we managed to stop the bleeding. His life isn't in any danger now but we still have to keep an eye on him. And as on the chance of having brain damage, right now we don't see anything wrong but we can only be sure when he wakes up." The surgeon says.
"Are you sure he's not in a danger anymore?" Taehyung asks, while wiping his tears away with the back of his hand. "I'm pretty sure. We're transferring him into another room and you guys can visit him later. But not all of you at once."
The members let out a relieved sigh. "At least he's not in a danger anymore." Hobi says. "I nearly died of heart attack." Yoongi pats his chest. "It's gonna be okay now." Namjoon hugs the maknae line. "It will be okay." Hoseok smiles as he puts his arm around Yoongi.
"When will he wake up?" Jimin asks. "We can't be sure. Hopefully soon." The surgeon replies.
Since the six of them can't visit Jin all at once, they divide into three teams. After Jin's family came out of the room, Yoongi and Jungkook get to visit Jin while the rest of the members wait outside. "How did this happen?" Jin's father asks as he silently wipes his tears away. Jin's mother just can't stop crying, so Jin's older brother and Taehyung are at her side, trying to calm her down. "He was crossing the road, and then there's this truck coming at his way. It was too fast for Jin to dodge." Namjoon replies. Jimin and Hoseok are sitting with Bang PD and their manager, silently praying for Jin to wake up quickly. It's Namjoon's and Taehyung's turn to visit after that, and then Hoseok's and Jimin's turn.
A tear quickly escapes when Hoseok sees Jin laying on the bed with his body attached to some machines that he doesn't even know the name of. His hyung looks so pale. "He doesn't look like our Jin-hyung." Jimin's voice breaks and so does his heart. "Hyung, it's me, Jimin. Hobi-hyung is also here." He says as he holds Jin's hand. "Hope is here, hyung." Hoseok tries to smile. "Wake up soon. I miss your dad jokes already." Jimin mutters as he breaks into tears. Even Hoseok, the sunshine, the hope of the team, can't fake being strong anymore. Jimin cries. Hoseok cries. And even the ones outside breaks down after hearing them. "Promise me, hyung. Promise me you'll wake up soon." Jimin says as he strokes Jin's hand. Jimin knows Jin can't reply right now, but he's sure that Jin has already promised him that.
"You guys need to rest. You're here all day." Bang PD says to the boys. "Can't we stay?" Jungkook pleads. "We will stay here. You guys have to stay well for Jin." Jin's brother says. "I will call you as soon as he wakes up." He continues. "We should go." Namjoon says. "We can come here again tomorrow." Hoseok persuades the other, even though him himself doesn't want to leave. "Let's go." Jimin says. The others are surprised to hear that. They think Jimin would be begging to stay like Taehyung and Jungkook. "Jin-hyung doesn't like it when we are overly concerned about him." Jimin adds. That's why Jin only comes to Jimin when he's hurt. Because Jimin will take care of him, offer him comfort, while keeping it to himself. Jin doesn't want to look weak in front of others unless it's Jimin.
Even though all of them finally agree on resting in their dorm that night, none of them actually sleep well. They have their eyes shut, but their mind constantly drift to Jin. Every single one of them is holding their phone in their hands, in hope for a phone call from Jin's brother. In hope for a news that say Jin has woken up.
The next morning, their manager buys breakfast for the boys, knowing that they will not bother to look for breakfast on their own. Heck, even when the food is on table, they're still not eating. "I know how you feel right now. I know you guys probably didn't even sleep last night, because I was the same. We're all as worried as you are. Now that the news about Jin is out, even ARMYs are as worried as you are. Everyone is out there praying for Jin, so the least you can do is to stay strong enough for Jin. So, eat. For Jin." Their manager says. "Jal meokgesseumnida" Yoongi says as he grabs a sandwich. The other follows immediately, because they have to stay strong for their hyung. And while they're eating, Namjoon's phone suddenly rings and he immediately picks up and puts it on speaker when he sees that it's from Jin's brother. "H-hello?" Namjoon says as everyone else looks at him. "Jin's awake." He replies. "But he.."
"But he?" Namjoon repeats his words.
"He's forgetting us."
"What does that mean?" Jimin asks.
"His brain is slowly deleting his memories. He's going to forget us. One by one."
And they hope this is just a lie.
But it isn't.
The doctor himself isn't even sure what's happening to Jin right now. He's never seen this kind of case before. Jin is forgetting every single person in his life. He's forgetting it one by one, deleting each person out of his memories randomly. Right now he has forgotten his brother, his manager, Jaehwan, and some of his childhood friends. That's all they know right now from what Jin's brother says on the phone. They don't even know if Jin will recognize them when they get there.
"No, no, no, no! Jin-hyung won't forget us. He won't." Jungkook cries. "I want to see him. I need to see him now!"
"We're on our way to see him now, Jungkook. Sejin-hyung is driving as fast as he can." Namjoon says with shaky voice. "What if he had forgotten us when we get there?" Taehyung asks Yoongi. "He won't. He won't do that to us." Yoongi replies.
"Go in." Jin's father says to them when they've finally arrived. Apparently Jin has forgotten his own family. He's losing his memories fast, and they can't do anything about it. All of them quickly step into Jin's ward together. Jin is sitting on his bed with a teary smile on his face. "I haven't forgotten all of you." Jin says immediately.
Hearing that, they fall into a group hug, something the seven of them haven't done for a while. "I was so scared. I can't remember anything except you guys. They say I'm forgetting everything. And that means I'll forget all of you." Jin cries. "Don't forget us. Hyung, don't forget us." Taehyung says as they pull away. "Save me. I don't want to forget any of you. Help me, please." Jin looks at them pleadingly, but none of them knows what to do. "Hyung, remember when we just debuted and the seven of us have to share a room?" Jimin says suddenly, hoping that if they keep talking about their memories, jin won't forget them. Jin nods. "It was small and cramped. But I was happy then." He replies. "We were happy too." Hoseok says. "The two of us fight a lot." Jungkook says, laughing through his tears. "Yes, we do." Jin replies.
"Namjoon keeps breaking things and I always have to clean up the mess. Yoongi is my best room mate ever even though we rarely talk in the room. Hobi is always helping me with the chores and always helps me with the choreographies. Taehyung will always make the situation fun. Jungkook can't stop annoying me and I can't stop annoying him as well." Jin laughs. "And Jimin, Jimin will always make sure everyone's fine. He's always there for us. I'm happy when I'm with all of you. Our times together are mostly tiring and hard, but I was happy."
"Hyung, you always promise me anything I want." Jimin says and Jin nods. "I just can't say no to you, Jimin-ah."
"Then promise me this." Jimin intertwines his fingers with Jin's. "Promise me. Promise me that even when you forget the world, you'll still remember me. Remember us. Remember Bangtan." Jimin says.
But for the first time ever, Jin promises him nothing. The Jin that Jimin knows, would've said "I promise". But that day, Jin doesn't give him the answer he wanted. Jin looks at them with his eyes glistening with tears, a sad smile on his face, and Jin says "I'm sorry" instead of "I promise". "I'm sorry Jimin-ah. Thank you for always be there for me. For me, you're my angel. And I'm sorry. I'm sorry. You're always taking care of me even though I'm older. You take care of all of us. Jimin-ah, if I forget, please take care of them. Take care of yourself. This sounds selfish, I know. I'm sorry."
"I don't want your sorry. I want you to remember us." And then they cry and they hug and they talk about all the memories they've ever had. They remember.
"I hope this is not real. I wish this is just a lie. I wish this is a nightmare and I wish to be awake." Jimin says. "Thank you for becoming the flowers in the most beautiful moment of my life." Jin says to all of them, smiling while trying his best to remember all the beautiful memories he had with them, trying to remember all the promises he made to Jimin, trying to remember how much he loves them.
And after that, with tears falling, with his hand clutched onto his chest, Jin says, "Who are you?"
