Sirius Black expected to go to Hogwarts, get through his seven years in Slytherin, then be forced into Voldemort's ranks by his parents. He expected wrong.
Remus Lupin expected to be the school freak, to be unloved by all, and go on into a lonely, unemployed life. He expected wrong.
Peter Pettigrew expected a normal seven years at Hogwarts. He didn't care where he was put, or where he went afterwards. He expected a very boring school experience. He expected wrong.
James Potter expected nothing. He decided, from day one, to forge his future himself instead of sitting around thinking of what might happen. Regardless of what he did, he knew he was going to have fun. And he was correct.
