Work Text:
After graduating UA, Tsuyu and Ochako had decided to join separate hero agencies. Ochako wished she could have worked at the same place as Tsuyu, but the two had different interests and quirks that would come in use for different types of hero work.
Tsuyu's frog type quirk would benefit her in any sort of aquatic hero work, and in the end, Tsuyu decided to become an underwater search and rescue hero. Occasionally her team would run into a villain of some sort, but for the most part, they spent their time rescuing civilians from drowning or retrieving vehicles or other items.
Ochako always loved when Tsuyu would come home with stories of the day. She'd help Tsuyu dry and brush her hair due to it getting wet from whatever mission they'd been sent on. She loved the feel of Tsuyu's long hair through her fingers, and she enjoyed listening to her wife's tales. Most of the time, there had been no incident and Tsuyu would just tell her about their normal training regime, or something small would have occurred that day, like some possession gone missing in the river causing Tsuyu's team being sent out to get it. Other times the stories were almost comedic. Once a group of men had accidentally driven their car into the lake and Tsuyu's team had been called out to retrieve it, but all involved were unharmed and perfectly fine if not drunk and without a working vehicle.
Every once in a while, something big would come up. Someone gone missing whose body they couldn't find. Or they would be found, but they would no longer be alive. Ochako would comfort Tsuyu those nights. Reassure her that they were doing all they could, and that sometimes it was just too late.
Other times Tsuyu came home triumphant. She'd be smiling and recount to Ochako how they'd saved someone from drowning. Found someone before they had or the freezing cold water got to them. Rescued people stranded out in the middle of whatever body of water they'd been called to the scene of. These were Ochako's favorite stories. The ones were Tsuyu was able to do what she loved, rescue people.
Ochako also loved helping Tsuyu's agency with fundraiser events. They'd do polar plunges and host barbecues to raise money and support for the agency. Everyone at Tsuyu's agency welcome Ochako, knowing her as the hero Uravity who worked with fighting villains and rescue. It always made Ochako happy to see how well Tsuyu got along with her fellow heroes, and how much she enjoy her work.
She remembered once when they were at the polar plunge event that a couple of kids ran up to Tsuyu and told her how much they admired Froppy, and how they, too, wanted to work with underwater rescue when they became heroes. Tsuyu would smile and encourage them to pursue their goals, and it always made Ochako feel warm inside to see how well Tsuyu was with kids, and how she was not just a good hero but a good person.
Tsuyu often worried for Ochako, but she knew Ochako was capable and could handle herself out there. Ochako had joined Ryuku's agency after graduation, and she was planning to go solo or start her own agency once she'd gained more experience and training as a pro. Nejire had joined Ryuku's as well, and while she had started her own agency with Mirio and Amajiki not long ago, she still kept in touch with the two of them, and the five would often meet up for dinner dates.
In the years since their first one at UA, Ochako had gained muscle, and she was able to make heavier things float and for longer periods of time. She'd worked hard at improving her strength, and Tsuyu admired her wife's hard work and determination. Not to mention, Ochako had somehow become even more attractive.
Ochako always seemed to have some story to tell, and Tsuyu eagerly awaited hearing it. They'd be on the couch together, curled up together, and Ochako would tell her about how they'd managed to rescue someone today. Ochako's quirk came in use when lifting heavy objects that had fallen off of victims or rescuing people in a dangerous area that they could not just walk out of.
Other times, Ochako would excite and worry Tsuyu with her tales of some big villain causing trouble. Tsuyu would listen with excitement as Ochako delved into the pursuit of the victim, how she'd trap his path by floating and depositing a boulder in the way or even cause the villain to float and catch him off his guard while another hero took care of him. Tsuyu's favorite story was the one where some low name villain tried to grab Ochako and take her down, and she just whirled around and decked him in the face, knocking him out.
From all the battling and work, Ochako often came home sweaty and sometimes with scars. Tsuyu would nurse her, caution her to be careful, kiss the bandages causing Ochako to blush and laugh. Tsuyu loved these moments with Ochako, even though she worried for her wife's wellbeing, and she always felt so much pride and admiration.
Despite her muscles and battle scars, Ochako was still as soft and cheerful as ever. She would always smile at people on the streets who would wave and greet her by her hero name. It made Tsuyu happy to know that Ochako was doing the work she loved. It made good money, too. The two of them would often visit their families, and Tsuyu was glad Ochako was able to support hers.
They were eating breakfast together one day, one of those rare times where neither had gotten a call yet, when Ochako posed a question to her.
"Tsuyu, what do you think about having kids?"
"Kids?" Tsuyu placed a finger on her chin, cocking her head, and Ochako nodded.
"I know we're both busy with hero work now, but I'd love to adopt a kid someday. That is, if you're alright with that." She blushed, scratching the back of her neck. Tsuyu's face split into a smile.
"I'd love that. You'd be a good mother."
"So would you."
"Guess they're gonna get stuck in an endless loop of go ask your mom, though." Tsuyu said, and Ochako laughed, a bright smile on her face.
"I know we're both busy with hero work right now, but I'm just thinking a few years ahead, you know." Ochako sighed, twirling a strand of hair with her finger.
"I agree." Tsuyu nodded. "But I feel like it's a good idea once we're both ready to and feel like we can handle raising a kid with our jobs." Ochako beamed and placed a kiss on Tsuyu's lips. Tsuyu kissed her back before both went on their ways towards their respective agencies.
The life of a hero was a busy one. Sometimes one filled with danger. But Tsuyu knew Ochako could take care of herself and loved that life. And she knew that Uravity was one of the bravest, strongest, kindest and most beautiful heroes she'd ever met.
And she was lucky to have her as her wife.
