Just You

Summary:

in which you notice that your boyfriend obviously isn't okay and you finally manage to sit and talk to him.

Work Text:

The past two months, you’ve been noticing that song is wrong. Very wrong and it’s not you, it’s your boyfriend. It’s no secret that Park Jimin was self-conscious and often found himself feeling insecure, although it’s not as bad as it was a year or two ago.

Though, it’s still bad to the point where you often found yourself worrying more than you should over your boyfriend’s health. The kind, charming, and outgoing man that you have fallen in love with has completely changed. You notice that he’s almost never hungry, even if you bring him his favorite foods when he and the boys are done practicing for the day. It’s been a number of times when you’ve seen him collapse onto the floor from not eating properly.

You know that he feels the need to diet. You’ve tried talking to him about it but he just brushes you off. If he does talk to the boys about whatever it is that’s bothering him, he always tells them not to tell you about it.

You notice that he constantly has dark bags under his eyes. The two of you don’t live together but a few months after the two of you began dating, you often found him coming over to your place to rest. The boys would always tease him, saying he should just move in with you already. You know this because many times, he would tell you or you would witness it yourself. You smile at Hoseok, since he’s the one that had decided to open the door to the dorms.

“Y/N! What are you doing here?” He greets you happily, a bright smile on his face. “I sent Jimin a text that I was coming over with food, but I guess he didn’t tell you guys,” You spoke holding two bags of food on one arm whilst the other was holding a cup holder full of drinks.

“Thank you,” He takes the bags from you, much to your dismay. You can carry them yourself, but you don’t say anything. You just shut the door behind you. You slip your shoes off before looking around the new dorm.

You’ve known the boys since they were trainees at Big Hit. You often stopped by to make sure everyone was alright and if anyone needed anything. You were always at Big Hit because you are friends with the boys’ choreographer. The boys treat like a little sister, except for Jeongguk and Jimin.

“Where is everyone?”

You take notice of how quiet it seems to be in the dorms. “Everyone is in their rooms, mainly doing their own thing. We’re on break for a bit.” Hoseok explains, leading you into the kitchen. You frown, how come you didn’t know about this?

“From the look on your face, I’m guessing he didn’t tell you?” You shake your head setting the cup holder down onto the counter.

“We haven’t really been talking and I haven’t seen him in a few weeks. Is he doing any better?”

He gives you a look of sympathy and that’s all you needed to know. “He’s going to wind up hurting himself more than what he has. Is he in his room?”

“He is,”

“Well help me pass these out to the boys and I’ll go talk to him,” You made the boys healthy food since it’s always good to have it once in awhile. The drinks are fresh smoothies you made not too long ago. “I have extras at home if you guys ever want some more.”

“Are you leaving after this?” He grabs the cup holder whilst you grab the bags of food. You nod.

“After I talk to Jimin.”

You take a deep breath, feeling somewhat nervous. ‘I shouldn’t be nervous, this is my boyfriend.’ Hoseok said it was fine for you to talk to Jimin privately in their room. He just stayed with Jeongguk in his room.

You crack the door open, peeking your head inside. You step inside the room, quietly closing it behind you. The sound of quiet sniffs and a broken sigh makes your chest tighten and your heartbreak. You walk over to where Jimin’s bed is at. His back is toward you whilst he’s lying in a fetal position. His blanket is pulled over his body.

“Jimin?” You hear his breath hitch and you move to sit on the bed beside him. He doesn’t say anything, he doesn’t even move. So you take it upon yourself to lift up the blanket and slip into the bed next to him.

You know the boys have tried hard to get Jimin to tell them everything that’s wrong with him but he’ll only say bits and pieces. “Jimin,” You spoke softly, wrapping your arms around him from behind. You frown feeling how much thinner he’s gotten.

Just how long have they been on a break? You have read any reports about the boys and you’re sure the media and fans would have said something about this. His body is tense as you pull yourself closer to him. “What a-are you doing here?” His voice is shaky and it cracks as he asks you the question.

“I brought food for everyone and I wanted to see you,”

He doesn’t respond to that, but you can feel his body loosening up and you know for a fact that it’s a start to get him to open up to you. “What’s going on with you? We’re all worried,”

He moves his hands to wipe his face from the tears that were previously shed before you walked into the room. “It’d be better if you guys didn’t.” Your face twists up into a look of confusion. “What?”

“I’m saying that it’d be better if no one worried about me, that no one would care about me. I don’t deserve it,” You sit up and that’s when your eyes well up with tears. He sounds so hurt and so broken. What happened to him?

“How could you say something like that Jimin?”

Your voice is watery as you try your best not to cry. Your chest is tightening up even more than it was earlier. Your heart feels heavy. “Everyone would be better off if I wasn’t alive,”

That’s it, you can’t bear to hear this. You stand up abruptly, yanking the blanket with you. “How dare you? How dare you, Park Jimin, say such things!” You shout, feeling angry even though you shouldn’t be. You think it’s the initial shock of him saying something like that. The months of seeing him basically destroy himself and to be there to hear those words come out of his mouth has made you break.

“Why are you feeling this way? Talk to me or talk to them! We’re here for you Jimin. Why would you ah something as ridiculous as that? Think about the people around you, the people that love and support you.”

You watch as he sits up and faces you. “I’m only stating facts. No one cares about me. No one loves me. You don’t even want me. I’m too clingy, I’m too fat, and I’m untalented. What’s left for me here, huh?”

You didn’t expect him to shout back at you as a sob escapes your body. Tears are now streaming down your face, your heart completely broken. “You don’t think that I want you? I’m your girlfriend, your best friend! I love you. The boys are like your brothers, they love you!”

“But I’m awful,”

“How could you eve-what?”

It’s hard for you to comprehend this whole situation that’s going on. You feel a bit light headed from this, but this situation needs to be sorted right here and right now. The bedroom door opens, causing both of your heads to snap in the direction of the door.

“We heard yelling,” Namjoon is the first one to speak, looking worried. You don’t say anything, you just turned your head back to Jimin to see him already looking at you. “I-we want to help you. Every single one of us.”

You sniff and clear your throats before getting onto your knees and cupping Jimin’s cheeks in your hands, staring into his eyes that look like they are tearing up. “You, Park Jimin, the love of my life and their best frien-no brother, are not clingy. You are nowhere near fat and even if you were, we’d still love and support you. You are definitely not untalented,”

You take a deep breath, trying to keep yourself from sobbing. “All of us in this room right now want to see you get better, All seven of us care about you. I cannot stress that to you enough, I don’t care if I need to remind you this twenty times a day because I will.” He cracks a smile, making your heart swell.

He reaches forward and grabs your arms, pulling you into a tight hug. “Thank you, really. I’m sorry. I’m so sorry,” He starts sobbing and that’s when you feel more arms wrapped around you.

“There’s no reason to be sorry, Jiminie.” Jeongguk spoke, his voice watery as well and you can tell that he has been crying. Soon enough there was a massive group hug, that somehow managed to fit on Jimin’s bed.

When everyone pulled away, you all looked at each other before laughing. You don’t know why but maybe it’s because you all know that everything will be okay. That your message was heard loud and clear. Also the fact that everyone clearly knows how much the eight of you care about on another.

“Everything is going to be alright, Jimin.”
