Hawaiian Thunderstorm

Summary:

This is the eighth in a BTS OneShot Series based on a prompt list I ran across! This BTS story is based on the prompt: Hey dude I read that cuddling helps you sleep better, you wanna try it out?

Notes:

So I ran across this “Bed Sharing AU” prompt list with 8 prompts and thought it’d be a great exercise to explore writing fanfics again. This is the 8th and FINAL in a series of oneshots.

A special thanks again to BTS… for giving me inspiration and re-igniting my passion to write again.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Hawaiian Thunderstorm

Prompt: Hey dude I read that cuddling helps you sleep better, you wanna try it out?

Pairing:  NamJoon x BTS, BTS x BTS, Almost all the ships really…

Genre: The Fluffiest of Fluff

Word Count: 1.1K. (so it’s really more of a Drabble or an Imagine… but whatever.  I love it).

NamJoon lay in bed next to a sleeping Yoongi as he listened to the thunder and rain outside. It was soothing, but it was keeping him awake. There was a bright flash through the window followed by a loud crack of thunder. Yoongi groaned next to him and rolled over to his other side.

The guys had been working hard…really hard, and they needed this trip. Sure it was work too, but not in comparison to endless hours of practice and the physical and mental pressure doing concerts put on them.  Even now, after a few days, they were just beginning to let themselves relax.

NamJoon sighed and closed his eyes, but they flew open again at the sound of the door creaking.  Not long after, he felt someone crawling up the middle of the bed between him and Yoongi.

“Tae, what are you doing,” he chided.

“I can’t sleep…” he said, sitting back on his heels.

“And that’s our problem because…?”

“I read somewhere that cuddling helps you sleep better!”

“Go cuddle with Kookie on the couch, then,” NamJoon said, hoping he’d leave.

“The couches are too small, so I came in here. The bed is big enough, right?”  TaeHyung sucked in his lips and made his eyes really big. Damn…the kid looked like a wet puppy.

“Just make a decision and be quiet about it,” came Yoongi’s voice from the other side of the bed.

NamJoon rolled his eyes. There was another crack of thunder and TaeHyung plopped down into the bed, an arm covering NamJoon’s chest.  He sighed and decided it’d be easier to accept it than to fight it. After a few minutes, he closed his eyes, admitting to himself that it wasn’t so bad…. Kind of warm actually.

The door creaked again and something else moved the bed making Yoongi groan.

“Who is it now?” he growled.

“When TaeHyung didn’t come back I decided to follow him…” NamJoon groaned and scooted to the edge  as TaeHyung pushed closer to make room for JungKook.

“There’d be more room if we all turned on our sides,” said TaeHyung, sleepily.

“The hell I’m moving…” Yoongi’s voice grumbled, but he didn’t push JungKook off of him as he snuggled close. NamJoon sighed and turned to face Tae, adjusting so TaeHyung’s head rested on his arm. TaeHyung curled into him and he laughed.

“So this is where everyone went…” a sleepy-voiced HoSeok said as he walked into the room. He started to crawl into the bed. “Any room?”

Yoongi groaned and turned to face JungKook, shaking him a little so he would scoot in to make a bit more room. When TaeHyung and JungKook’s backs were pressed together, HoSeok crawled up the edge of the bed, wrapping an arm around Yoongi’s waist, a leg hooking over his to help anchor him on the bed.

“Well isn’t this cozy…” NamJoon said semi-sarcastically.  He was grateful this was a California King sized bed, wide and extra long.  Everything was quiet, except for the thunder and rain still going strong, and NamJoon was actually starting to fall asleep. As squashed as everyone was, it was actually kind of comfortable.

“So everyone’s in here then…” Jimin’s voice came from the doorway.

“You guys too?” NamJoon asked, seeing Jin follow in behind Jimin.

“Chim wanted to check on Kookie and Tae because of the thunder,” said Jin.

“But everyone was gone,” Jimin explained already climbing into the bed. Jin stopped at the end of the bed, and NamJoon watched his face as he calculated his next move, not surprised when he crawled up between him and TaeHyung. He rested his head on NamJoon’s thigh while TaeHyung’s leg moved to make room before stretching out across Jin’s chest. Jin angled himself diagonally across the bottom half of the bed, but even still, his feet hung off the bottom.

Similarly situated on the other side, Jimin rested against Yoongi’s thigh, one arm sprawled across his leg and resting on HoSeok’s calf.  JungKook’s foot now rested on the top of Jimin’s thigh and his hand moved to rest on the top of Jimin’s head. Jimin’s legs also crossed through Jin’s in a strange but apparently comfortable pretzel.

Everyone settled in and they were all quiet for a little while. Breathing started to settle and NamJoon was really getting sleepy.  But… something… smelled…

“Damn it… who was it!?”

“What’s invisible and smells like carrots?” Jin asked. NamJoon rolled his eyes and waited.

“Bunny farts…” he finally said. JungKook and Jimin started laughing and Yoongi smacked the back of Kookie’s head.

“Man, you’re disgusting…” he groaned.  Tae reached behind and smacked JungKook’s butt.

“Bad Bunny,” he mumbled.  NamJoon chuckled, pet TaeHyung’s head, then Jin’s, and surveyed his group.  It reminded him of old times, but better.  They were smushed together now, but life was far more preferable. They still worked hard, but the stomach clenching desperation had separated itself from their overall passion and ambition. Life was happier…

He sighed again and closed his eyes. Within minutes he felt calmer… and soon, even the thunder couldn’t keep him awake.

~~~~~~~~~~
A stream of light was hitting NamJoon right across the eyes. What the hell happened last night….?  He blinked and brought up a hand to shield his eyes from the morning sunlight. Everyone was still in the bed together, but had shifted. Jin’s face pressed against NamJoon’s stomach, and Jin’s arm slung over his hip. NamJoon’s arm hovered over Jin’s head, propped up by TaeHyung’s shoulder.
TaeHyung had turned onto his other side, arm around JungKook, hand cradling Jimin’s head that was pressing into JungKook’s chest.  Somehow HoSeok and Yoongi had switched places. HoSeok had a leg over Jimin’s side and an arm around Jimin and JungKook, while Yoongi hugged him from the other side.
Everyone was sweaty… there was a weird smell in the air… and NamJoon had an ache in his neck that wasn’t there the day before.
He didn’t think he’d slept so well in a long time.
~~~~~~~~~~

Another thunderstorm rolled in late that night. NamJoon lay comfortably next to Suga, an arm behind his head, staring at the ceiling.

He heard the door creak open…and a voice…

“Hyung…?”

NamJoon smirked and patted the bed.  It wouldn’t always be like this… and it probably wouldn’t even be like this tomorrow…

But hell… they were in Hawaii… and they were all together.  Besides, there was a thunderstorm. How could he say no?

The door creaked again and more footsteps made their way to the bed.

NamJoon smiled.
