“Tenya!” Shouto shouts, running towards the alley. This really isn’t good for the groceries. “Come on! Varanus isn’t going to beat himself—”
“It’s awfully presumptuous of you to say that, Endeavor spawn,” the villain hisses. Varanus flicks his tail, and lunges for Shouto. Shouto freezes the lizard-like villain in his place, anger hardening in his eyes. “Tenya.” Shouto says coldly. Tenya nods in understanding.
Tenya moves, activating his engines into boosting his speed. He adjusts his position so that his leg will collide with Varunus’s head once it reaches that point. However, right before Tenya’s leg can make contact. Varanus’s tail flicks to life and slams Tenya against the wall. Tenya hits it with a grunt, spit coming out of his mouth with a loud choke. Shouto shoots a fireball at the scene, and Tenya flees quickly, engines bursting back to life to avoid being hit. “Shouto-kun!” Tenya scolds. “You have to be more careful—”
Another array of ice forms a wall behind Tenya. “Not the time for lectures, dear,” Shouto says, gritting his teeth. Tenya’s own face softens, and moves back to a fighting stance.
“So, the villain has a lizard quirk?” Tenya asks, shifting his gaze to the splash of greenish gray popping over the ice wall. “Like Tsuyu-chan-kun, but a lizard?”
“Yes, and no,” Shouto answers, posture tense. “More like a komodo dragon. Strong tail, sharp claws, strong teeth… and can apparently shoot acid from its mouth!” Shouto shouts loudly, blocking the oncoming acid with another wall of ice. The acid burns the ice a little, but not nearly enough to tear through it. With a relaxed sigh, Shouto clicks the brand new emergency hero caller on his phone, and switches the grocery bags into his other hand. “It’s incredibly inconvenient that this happened on our way back to Yuuei...” Shouto murmurs. Tenya nods, eyes locked behind him until the two begin their way to Yuuei again.
Neither of the two expect the strong tail to slam them both into the wall. Varanus gleefully laughs a sick cackle, hands on both of Tenya and Shouto’s necks, sharp claws digging into sensitive skin.
“Hero boys,” the villain hisses. “You got everything. Privileged, overpowered children. Especially you, Endeavor spawn,” Varanus digs his claws in a little deeper. Shouto struggles to breathe a little. If only he knew. Shouto’s hand drops the groceries and moves to freeze the villain, but Varanus tsks his tongue and squeezes Tenya’s throat a little tighter.
“Try to freeze or burn me, boy, and I’ll choke your little boyfriend to death. Maybe spit on his face a little, too, that way you can die with matching scars!” Varanus says way too cheerfully, before he sends a look to Tenya. “Or, try to kick me, and I do the same to him. Now, hero boys, tell me where your riches are and you can be on your merry way to Yuuei! There are dorms, you know. You should stay in them. That way these things don’t happen—”
A flash of green—a good, happy green—blurs into Shouto’s vision, and a smile breaks onto his scarred face. Varanus’s eyes widen for half a second, and his claws are about to squeeze the life out of both him and Tenya, before the love of both he and Tenya’s lives swoops in and kicks Varanus away, bright green energy flickering on his skin. Both Shouto and Tenya fall onto the ground, wheezing sweet air, and Shouto frowns. “The bananas are squished,” he says flatly.
“Not the time to worry about groceries, Shoucchan!”
Izuku always looks beautiful, but there’s something about him when he looks like this, when he’s ready to serve justice to villains. He looks younger, looser, freer. He looks like he’s doing what he was meant to do. And if Shouto knows something about Izuku… well, it’s that he’s a hero.
“No need to worry, Shoucchan, Tenchan! Everything is going to be just fine!” And Izuku shoots Varanus a smile that could kill. “Why?” he asks, energy flickering back in his two legs. “Because I am here!” Izuku cries as he shoots off for the villain, readying his arm for a punch. The appendage bursts with power, and when the fist hits its target… Well, Shouto’s not surprised that he passes out. The air pressure caused by the hit blew out a circle from where Izuku made contact, and a burst of trash surrounds him like a circle. Izuku runs back to where Shouto and Tenya are, and begins fussing immediately.
“I got the notification from the emergency villain app. I think Hatsume-san is doing a really good job at it! We should really tell the teachers about it soon, though. That way, next time something like this happens, one of them can take care of it,” Izuku pets both of their heads to make sure there are no severe head injuries, before blushing profusely. “N-Not that I don’t want to come save you! It’s just, they’re better at it. B-Because they’re already pro heroes! Yeah…” Izuku murmurs quietly.
Shouto and Tenya exchange looks, before Tenya bursts into laughter. “Shouto-kun,” Tenya says, coughing into his fast as he hides his laughter. “Call the police. And Izuku-kun,” Tenya moves to hug the shortest of a three. A whole year after the incident at Kamino, and Izuku hadn’t budged a centimeter. It was quite cute, really. “Thank you for coming.”
“I was already out, because you were taking a while and I got worried. Guess I know why, huh?” Izuku says sheepishly. Shouto finishes his call with the station, and tells Tenya and Izuku they’re to stay put so the three of them can give a statement.
“You know,” Shouto muses. “When you jumped in there, you reminded me of All Might. You even said his catchphrase. Did you do that on purpose?”
Izuku flushes a bright pink. “N-No! I don’t think so!? I didn’t mean to—oh my God, I’m so embarrassed. Please don’t tell Toshinori-san about that!”
Shouto and Tenya exchange a second look. “First name basis?” Tenya asks, wry grin pulling his lips. Izuku’s face bursts into a darker shade of pink, before waving his arms frantically and babbling at the speed of sound. Shouto and Tenya both laugh, before moving on either side of Izuku and stopping his frantic arm movements and holding his hands. Izuku looks lost, before calming down and smiling an embarrassed, sheepish smile at his two boyfriends.
“Now, are you two okay? You were being choked when I came here, so I just—”
The two were content to let Izuku talk their ears off. It was pleasant, comfortable, and familiar.
He’s going to be the top hero one day, Shouto thinks, as he watches Izuku fret over claw marks embedded on Tenya’s throat. I can’t wait to be his number two.
