Work Text:

The sky was only slightly grey, and from what you heard, there was only a 15% chance of rain today. You had planned this for weeks, going to the bookstore to get the next book of your favorite series that had just come out, and read it as soon as you got home. The last book ended on a cliff hanger, everyone was on edge waiting for the next book to come out.
It was roughly around 4:00 PM, the day was going by lazily. The book store opened at 12:00, and you left the house around 3:00, the latest addition to the series was a tough find, you thought you were too late to get the newest copy. Luckily, though, you managed to snag the final copy the last minute.

You decided to walk to the bookstore and walk back home, it wasn't terribly far. Roughly a thirty minute or so walk, you needed the exercise anyway. You were no more than halfway home when--

Boom.

Thunder.

Looking up, it was starting to become overcast. So much for the 15% chance of rain. The sky swiftly became dark, clouds obstructing the sun and turning an ominous dark grey.
One by one, fat rain drops started falling from the sky. At first it was a light drizzle, then it quickly became a heavy rainstorm. Thunder boomed, but lightning was nowhere in sight.

You were becoming drenched, despite it having only rained for less than a minute. Your book would be completely ruined by the time you got home.

Great.

Another loud clap of thunder sounded throughout the sky, the wind pushing its way through the leaves of the trees, causing them to rustle. You gasped as you stepped into a large puddle of water. Your shoes were now officially soaked down to the socks- they were pretty much ruined now. The book was somewhat protected by the plastic bag, but rain was definitely getting in there.
Cursing aloud, you huffed and rubbed your face. The annoying, moist squishing sounds sent chills up your spine every time you felt and heard your socks squishing around inside of your shoes.
You were just about to give up and take refuge under a tree when-

“Hey.” Came a voice behind you.

Whirling around, there he was, Jotaro Kujo. The one and only marine biologist, standing in the rain behind you. Where did he come from?

“What are you doing here?” You asked Jotaro, taking a step towards him.

“I’m coming back from the bookstore with new marine biology books.” He stated. Judging from the looks of him, he must’ve been outside in the rain for as long as you, if not longer. Jotaro was completely soaked, he didn’t seem to mind, though.

“I thought you were back at the house, you didn’t tell me you were heading out.”

“Good grief. Does it matter?” Jotaro demanded.

You closed your mouth, and simply shrugged. Jotaro caught up with you, both you and Jotaro stood in silence for awhile. He stared down at you with his striking blue eyes. His eyes reflected the thing he was most passionate about- the sea. They had a hint of something else, though…
Before you could pinpoint what it was, he turned and began walking ahead of you.

“W-Wait up!” You sprinted after him. Damn his long legs. After catching up with him, you struggled to keep up with his fast pace. “What book did you get?”

“The Edge of the Sea, by Rachel Carson.” He said simply.

“Oh.”

Silence. The only sound was the sound of rain hitting the hard concrete, and the rustling of the leaves.
How far away was the house again? At this point, you were following Jotaro, you were convinced he lost his way because the street you were on did not look familiar at all.

Or… was he leading you away? Oh god.

Oh no.

What was he gonna do to you? What’s gonna happen? Was he-

Slip.

The only thing you saw was the concrete coming closer and closer to your face. Closing your eyes, you braced for the impact. A couple of seconds passed, nothing happened. You didn’t taste blood, you didn’t feel any broken bones, everything was… fine? You hesitantly opened your eyes, lo and behold, Star Platinum had caught you before you hit the ground. He gently lifted you back onto your feet, before disappearing back into Jotaro. You could feel your face blush, and turned away.

“Th-Thanks..” You muttered.

“Good grief. If you trip again, I won’t catch you, neither will Star Platinum.” He grumbled, hiding his face with his hat. You tried to get a look at his face, was.. was he blushing? You brushed it off, but continued walking home.

Time for a test. It may involve hurting yourself, but it’s gonna be worth it.

You started maneuvering your body to slip again, moving your feet in odd ways to try and fall. You were just about to give up, when your feet gave out beneath you and you headed for the concrete again, this time flat on your back.
Star Platinum did not catch you, no, this time Jotaro himself grabbed your hand before you could fall, pulling you up close to him.

“You did that on purpose.” Jotaro’s voice was hard to read.

“You said you wouldn’t catch me next time.” You said matter-of-factly. Your wet body was pressed flush against his, you could feel his firm chest and well toned body against yours. The two of you stared at one another once more, your eyes wandered to his lips. Slowly, you leaned in to kiss him, when he abruptly let you go and started to walk ahead again. Awkwardly, you rubbed the back of your neck and followed Jotaro. What a tease. You thought.
You shivered, rubbing your arms. “Hey, Jotaro, where are we? I think we took the wrong turn. If we stay out in this rain we’re gonna catch a cold.”

He looked over his shoulder, before saying, “The last thing I want is to hear you sneezing and coughing while I’m trying to read. Let’s go.”

You refused to budge. Jotaro turned around when he didn’t see you by his side. He walked towards you, stopping only a couple of inches away. You stared up at him with intense eyes, determined to break the stoic facade of his.

“Why did you catch me?” You demanded.

Jotaro said nothing, and continued to look down at you. “It would’ve been a nuisance if you hurt yourself.” He said cooly.

“Cut the bullshit! I care about you, okay Jotaro? I don’t know if you feel the same about me but I’d die for you! We’ve been through hell and back together, with the trip to Egypt!” You screamed over the rain.
Jotaro was still silent, you huffed angrily and stood on your toes, placing a firm kiss against his lips. All your anger felt to melt away as you kissed Jotaro, albeit it was sloppy due to height, his lips were soft, cold. You fell back onto the flat of your feet, and looked away angrily.
“Sorry,” you grumbled. “I got worked up.”

Jotaro finally spoke up.

“I care about you too.”

You blinked. “What?”

“Good grief. I said I care about you too, are you deaf?” He paused for a moment, and relaxed his tense body. “You… mean a lot to me. I can’t begin to think of what I would have done if you were hurt. I want to protect you.” Jotaro’s face was dusted with a light blush.
You smiled, and placed a gentle hand on his shoulder. Jotaro brought his hand up to your chin, and lifted your head, leaning in for a kiss. The kiss was at first light, quick. Jotaro quickly brought his mouth back to yours, filled with a fiery, needy passion and hunger. You wrapped your arms around his neck, deepening the kiss. One of Jotaro’s hands tightly grabbed your hips, pushing your body against his, the other running a hand through your hair.
Breaking the kiss, you both gasped for breath. He pulled away, you had a dumb grin on your face.

“That was nice. I’ve… been wanting to do that for awhile” You said, wrapping an arm around his. Jotaro looked at you, his body tense but slowly relaxing in your grasp. He shrugged, and pushed his hat down over his face.
You no longer felt rain on you, and you looked up. Star Platinum was hovering behind you, holding his arms above your head, acting as an umbrella. You smiled at the stand.
Giggling, you said to him,“Thank you, Star. You too, Jotaro.”

The rain works in mysterious ways, it knows just the right ways to bring out the soft side of Jotaro Kujo.

Notes:
