Work Text:
Midoriya Izuku doesn't like cats.
Even if he can see why people love them, and he can appreciate thay they're cute and adorable, the only thing that he truly feels is how every single cat he's tried to aproach has bite him, or almost bite him.
To be fair, the correct way to prhase it would be that cats don't like him.
But Shinsou, of course, doesn't care about all that.
“You planned a date to a cat cafe.” Midoriya asks, but it sounds way more like a statement.
“...Yep.”
“Shinsou, I really like you, and you know I find really cute that you like cats, but I'm,” the shorter boy starts to say, trying to find the right words. “... I'm not sure if this is a good idea.”
“Izuku,” Shinsou says, making Midoriya stare directly into his eyes. “I'm not going to force you to do something you don't like,” He stops for a moment, adverting his gaze, but he grabs one of Midoriya's hands and gives it a soft squeeze. “but I would want to try this place with you. If you don't want, we can go somewhere else, okay? No problem.”
Izuku thinks about it for some time, but in the end, he has to admit that he's curious about how a cat cafe is. Plus, Shinsou surrounded by cats will provide a lot of photo material.
“...I want to try it.” he finally decides.
“Sure?” his boyfriend asks, still holding his hand.
A little smile appears in Midoriya's face when he squeezes the taller boy's hand.
“Sure.”
After entering and paying -which took a lot of whisper discussion between the two boys, the shorter one saying that “it was just fair he paid his part” and the other treathening to use his quirk so he would not pay-, both of them entered to the local with the promise that they would get ice cream later, which Izuku would pay.
The cat cafe, per se, looked like any other cafe you could go to, if you didn't count all the cat things littered everywhere. The boys sat on a table, opposite of each other and after ordering what they would drink, they were on their own.
Luckily, it seemed like they were the only ones in the place at the moment, so Izuku was glad that if he made a fool of himself the only want to witness it would be Shinsou.
Speaking of the devil, he could see how a couple of cats had already took place in his boyfriend's sides.
“Look at them, so cute.” Hitoshi whispers, scratching the back of the head of the cat to his right, the animal moving his head slightly to the touch, purring happily.
“Yeah, I wish I had your charm.” Izuku jokes, making an exaggerated sigh and sinking a little in the chair.
Then, out of thin air, the cat that was in the left side of Shinsou appears out of nowhere and puts himself in Midoriya's stomach.
“H-H-Hitoshi...!” Izuku yelped, his whole body trembling (with exicement or fear, Shinsou couldn't tell) and his arms moving around the little cat, unsure of what to do.
“Okay, little hero, calm down.” The taller boy teased, stopping to pet the cat, which made a grunting noise. “Want me to help you, or I just tell you what to do?”
“Help me, please.” Izuku pleaded without looking at Shinsou, his eyes focused on the cat in his lap.
“Okay, darling,” Hitoshi teased, making the other boy's cheeks have a pink color. “first, give me your hand.”
Very slowly, Izuku moved his right hand to Shinsou, him grabbing it carefully. It didn't matter how many times Midoriya had told him that his hand was fine, the scars said otherwise.
“Now, lay it down and pet his head like this,” Shinsou continued, moving Izuku's hand slowly down, until it touched the body of the little animal. Moving himself a little upwards so he could see it better, he moved the other boy's hand to the head of the cat, guiding it with his, showing how to pet it. “see? Pretty easy.”
“I... I think I got it.” answers Izuku, so Shinsou retreats his hand. Then, trying to mimic the movements from before, Midoriya moves his hand slowly up and down the cat's head, this purring a little and moving his head closer to the hand.
Shinsou is pretty sure that if he stares to his boyfriend's happy smile and big, beautiful eyes any longer, he's going to end up blind; Izuku is looking at the cat in his lap like it's the best thing that's ever happened to him, and Shinsou is lowkey jealous. Just a little.
“This is,” Midoriya interrupts, rubbing his eyes with his left hand, to prevent any tears from going down his face, but by now both of them know that he cries so easily that the attempt is not very useful. “this is beautiful.”
Shinsou, looking at Izuku's woobly smile, at his big, teary green eyes and to his beautiful freckles, can only agree.
Later that day, when they're walking back to the dorms, Shinsou and Midoriya are looking at the photos they took together, some of them endearing, and some of them...
“I can't believe you made me to this.” Midoriya whines, looking at the picture the other boy is showing him: Izuku, with cat ears, and a cat on his head, doing, what Shinsou called, a “nya pose”.
“What? It's perfect.” Hitoshi complies, his mouth forming a pout.
“No it's not, I look so weird.”
“You look adorable.” Shinsou answer's quicly, making the shorter boy blush from tips to toes, and hide his face in his arm.
“Hitoshi...!” Izuku replies, his face very hot all of a sudden. “You can't say things like that out of nowhere! It's not fair!”
“How that's not fair?” the taller boy asks, moving closer to Midoriya, his face really close to the shorter boy's ear. “It's the truth, you're adorable.”
Izuku is pretty sure he's going to die one day because of his boyfriend.
But meanwhile, he'll accept all his compliments with his face red like a tomato.
