Work Header

you are my happy place

Summary:

Everyone has a different way to deal with the dark thoughts. Namjoon has Seokjin.

Notes:

Hey dudes! I literally wrote this in bed so apologies for any glaring grammar mistakes. I have been thinking about this for a while and finally got around to writing it. Hope you enjoy!

Work Text:

“Why are you always taking photos of me?” Seokjin asks resting his chin on Namjoon’s bare chest.

“You noticed that huh.”

“It’s not that I mind Joonie. I mean who can blame you when you have a boyfriend who looks like me.” Seokjin blows an exaggerated kiss to his boyfriend which earns him a playful slap to the ass.

Namjoon looks down at his boyfriend of almost two years and sighs, “Shift over. I need to show you something.”

Seokjin obliges lifting the bulk of his weight from Namjoon’s chest so the younger can manoeuvre his body from the bed. His bare feet smack against the cold hardwood floor as he disappears into his closet for a few moments before returning to the bed holding an unassuming black box in his arms.

Namjoon places the box in the space between them and Seokjin shifts into a more comfortable position.

“Can I…”

“Go ahead.”

There is a moment of hesitation. Seokjin isn’t sure what he is going to find in this box and he has no idea what to expect from his boyfriend.

“Are you sure?”

“I wouldn’t have shown you if I wasn’t sure. It’s fine. Open it.”

With the confirmation Seokjin slowly lifts the lid of the box and gasps as the contents is revealed. Several dozens of pictures of his own face look back at him. He picks up the first picture up and gazes at it in awe.

It was a photo from one of their first dates. They had crowded themselves into a cramped photobooth meant for one and posed to their hearts content. Namjoon had supposedly lost them within a couple of hours and at the time Seokjin had been devastated.

“I thought you had lost these.”

“Well,” Namjoon brushes his messy blond hair back, “I kind found them a few weeks after our date. In my coat pocket.”

Seokjin places the strip of photos back down in the box and then moves onto the next. A selfie Seokjin had sent Namjoon just over a month ago when he was at a wedding for an old high school friend. He had been wearing a dusty blue suit holding a bunch of flowers probably snagged from on the bridesmaids.

“This one?” Seokjin asks turning the photo so Namjoon can clearly see it.

“You looked really handsome in that shade of blue.”

It continues like this. Seokjin picks up each picture and Namjoon watches, sometimes interjecting with a comment about how handsome or cute his boyfriend looked.

“Why do you have all of these pictures of me?” Seokjin asks looking up into his boyfriend’s smiling face.

“A few years ago I went through a rough patch,” a brief moment of darkness passes over Namjoon’s eyes as he remembers those rough days, “and my therapist suggested that I start this well… project I guess. She said that I should keep a box of things which make me feel happy or worthy and keep them in an easy to find place so that next time I feel down I have something to reassure me that everything is fine. That it is worth getting out of bed. You’re that to me.”

Namjoon watches slightly nervous as Seokjin packs away the box. The box is moved to the floor and within moments Seokjin wraps his loving arms around his younger boyfriend.

“Thank you for telling me that, I love you.”

It may be foolish for Namjoon to place such trust in one person. People are unpredictable but the next time he is feeling down he picks up his box and is brought to tears. Unbeknownst to him since his confession Seokjin has been adding small notes into the collection letting Namjoon know just how much he is valued.
