Kim Taehyung was on a fucking roll that evening. He aced his midterms exam on his hardest major (The life of William Shakespeare: Writings and Theories) after months and months of spending his weekends at the university library rather than getting shitfaced with his friends. He deserves every single ounce of rest he’s going to get in the fall break.
He declined Jimin’s offer to go clubbing at The Shelter (his favourite place on Earth) even with the amount of sad puppy eyes the older sent his way. Taehyung also declined Hoseok’s invitation to his party in his expensive and huge ass flat even with the promise of overflowing alcohol and weed.
“I’m sorry but I have to decline your offers, gentlemen. I am going to spend the night relaxing in my bath and wash all my worries away,” he told his friends as he pushed them outside the dorm room before slamming the door closed.
bubble bar #1? check. bubble bar #2? check. a bottle of rosé? check.
He sighed before shimmying out of his clothes. Kicking his clothes to the side almost caused his bottle of rosé to topple over and if it weren’t for his fast reflexes, he would be licking of the expensive drink off the floor. Taehyung’s final step before submerging himself in the bath was to press play on his speaker and let some classics flow through the air.
One minute, Taehyung was butt naked, dancing to a song in the middle of their small bathroom and holding a drink worth a month’s allowance. The next, he was neck-deep on his tub, sighing in content as he took a swig of alcohol.
Tonight, was going to be the best night of his life.
--
I haven’t slept a fucking wink for two days.
Min Yoongi was running on two hours of sleep for three days now. He’s also not sure whether he drank water or not because his spit tastes like coffee and the aftertaste of Redbull. He can beat his record of two hours of sleep for four days if his software didn’t fuck up on him.
He had been working on a piece for a week now. Some minor changes won’t hurt, sleep-recharged Yoongi thought when he sat down in his studio to tweak some of the song’s beats. Yoongi had never been so wrong in his whole life. It was after a whole day of editing when he let Namjoon listen to the final version of the song before saving it only to watch the software crash right before his sleep-deprived eyes.
To say that Namjoon was scared for his life and the studio’s was an understatement.
The other’s usually pale face was slowly starting to redden while his fists turned white. “I suggest you get out now, Joon, before I break your face too.” Namjoon booked it without letting Yoongi finish his sentence. He swore he can hear the latter yelling profanities inside the thickly-walled studio. Tiny person, huge temper, was all he could think of as he ran farther the danger.
After three hours of cursing and banging his fists on the table, Yoongi gave up trying to revive his software and his song and decided to just go get some sleep first before thinking of new solutions. He haphazardly toed off his shoes and dragged himself towards his bed when he first heard it.
You want thingamabobs? I got twenty.
He tried ignoring it at first, trusting that he’s tired enough to sleep through his neighbour’s singing. He took off his clothes and changed into a much more comfortable shirt and shorts before flopping face first on his bed. He was slowly drifting to sleep when his neighbour decided that it was the right time to up the tone of the song and belt out the chorus.
Tonight, was going to be a long fucking night.
xx
Yoongi didn’t have anything to do during the three-month long break except to try and retrieve his song and troubleshoot his traitor of a software. He wakes up at noon where the sun is blazing hot. He doesn’t need an alarm to wake himself up because the temperature inside his room is enough to cover him in sweat and cause him to leave the confines of his extremely comfortable bed.
He slept through his neighbours hollering of some Disney song he didn’t even know. Yoongi knows that it’s the same song all throughout the night because he couldn’t keep the tune out of his head as he walked towards The Bean where he promised to meet Hoseok.
It was against every single cell in his body to wake up before 2pm, go out, and feel the chill of the air seep into his three-layered barrier. Yoongi was pissed drunk when the younger made him promised into going out for lunch sometime during their break. He almost forgot about the incident until Hoseok shoved his phone in his face, a video of them pinkie-promising on for their lunch date. Both were drunk off their wits and if it weren’t for Seokjin driving them home, they would probably have spent the night outside The Shelter.
“I can feel your anger from the door, hyung,” the younger sat across him. He haphazardly dropped his bag on the floor and raised his hand to call on a waiter, only to remember that they’re not in a restaurant.
Yoongi couldn’t help but chuckle a bit. “We’re in a café, you dumdum. Go order me some sandwich and coffee.” He saw the other pouted before continuing, “It’s because you were late. Now stand up and go. I’m fucking starving.”
The Disney song was still playing when Hoseok got back on their table, tray on both his hands. The older couldn’t help but scowl, realizing that the song was on loop. There was an extra cup of chai tea (he could tell from the smell) and an extra plate of toast. Yoongi was about to take the plate of toast when the younger swatted his hand and handed him his plate of tuna sandwich.
“Are you hungry, Hobi? We can go grab some burgers if you’re hungry.” Yoongi took a sip of his coffee and sighed because Hoseok remembered his usual order instead of ordering him some sweet ass drink like what Seokjin did every single time.
The other looked at him as he chewed on his sandwich. He held a finger up, hold on, it said. Yoongi waited for him, taking a bite from his own food. “A friend’s coming here and wanted me to order his food in advance.”
“You didn’t tell me about this, Hobi.”
“I’m sorry. He kinda called me while I was ordering. Tae wouldn’t be staying for long knowing that he can’t keep his skinny ass still for, like, five minutes,” Hoseok smiled at him, apologetically and begging for Yoongi to not be mad at him. The latter smiled and nodded, “It’s okay. It’s nice to see faces other than your ugly face.”
Hoseok was about to say something when someone called him. It rang familiarly to Yoongi’s ears. He must have heard his voice somewhere considering that the university was fairly similar to a small community where everybody knew everyone.
Except Yoongi rarely went outside his comfort zone.
“Yoongi-hyung, this is Taehyung.” Hoseok motioned to Yoongi while looking at the newcomer. He nodded at this Taehyung who had long, wild hair that fell to his eyes. He had a freckle on his left eye, on the left side of his nose, and on his lower lip. He’s probably younger than him even though he could tell that the other was a bit taller than him.
Taehyung smiled at him and held his hand out for a shake. “Kim Taehyung, art major, theatre minor. I like this song playing right now. It’s my ultimate Disney favourite.” Yoongi’s ears perked at that last part.
“Do you happen to live at the Red Hall?” he tried really hard to keep his cool. If this was his annoying neighbour who made him listen to that one Disney Song (it’s Part of Your World, he learned from Taehyung when Hoseok asked about the title) every single fucking night. Yoongi clenched his fist under the table to prevent himself from punching the other square in the face.
--
Taehyung woke up early even though it’s still their fall break. Clearly, waking up at lunchtime was still early for him because when Jimin (his roommate, soulmate, and best friend all rolled into one small person) saw him walk out of his room, he almost dropped his food on the floor.
“Why the fuck are you eating rabbit food again, Chims? I told you to eat meat!” he made grabby hands at Jimin’s salad in an attempt to get the older to surrender his atrocious meal.
Jimin, totally used to his friend’s antics, pulled his bowl near him. He rolled his eyes and said, “My salad is pretty much real for me, Tae. You,” he pointed his fork at the latter, “need to eat salad because you eat trash.” He finished just in time for Taehyung to get out of the kitchen, munching on his leftover pizza from last night. He sat down next to Jimin and stuck his tongue out.
They were on their fourth episode of Pretty Little Liars when Taehyung’s phone chimed. Namjoon’s picture with him showed on his cracked screen. Jimin briefly looked at him then went back to watching Hannah down cupcake after cupcake on the screen. “Aren’t you gonna answer your brother’s call?” he said with a mouthful of chips.
So, he stood up and went to the kitchen before tapping on the green answer icon. “’Ssup, hyung. Why’d you call?” he hopped on the kitchen counter and sighed at the feel of the cold table on his thighs.
“Don’t ‘ssup me, Taehyung. We’re supposed to meet at the studio at 10. Where are you?”
Taehyung swore he almost had a whiplash from turning his head toward the direction of their neon orange wall clock. It was almost half past twelve. It will take him an hour to take a bath and another half an hour to rush to the studio in his trusty scooter. “I’ll be there in no time. Imma fly the fuck out of here right after I take a quick splash,” he hopped off the counter and ran towards the bathroom.
He threw his phone on the hamper before hopping in the shower.
He was out of the dorm in a flash. His hair was still slightly wet, and he was probably going to catch a cold, but he couldn’t care less when he’s hours late from his meeting with his brother. Namjoon promised to help him with the songs for Jimin’s surprise birthday gift. He was supposed to provide the lyrics and the vocals while his brother worked on the additional beats and other arrangements for the song. He needed the song in a week, just in time for Jimin’s 23rd birthday.
“Go grab some food first before heading here. I’m still working on Jin-hyung’s intro,” he remembered his brother telling him. He also remembered Hoseok telling him about his plans to eat out with a friend. Maybe I can get hyung to treat me food? he thought as he scrolled through his contacts.
“Yeah, sure. I’m at Serendipity. What do you want?”
Bless Jung Hoseok and his wallet because Taehyung didn’t have to pay for a meal that day. Bless Kim Namjoon because he knew the older man couldn’t resist his puppy eyes whenever he asked him about buying him food.
Taehyung almost slammed his ankle on his scooter when he arrived at Serendipity. He looked around for Hoseok and was silently praying that the latter got him Chai Tea because he was going to cry if it wasn’t his favourite tea. He spotted Hoseok sitting near the window with his friend.
“Hobi-hyung!”
The latter turned and looked at him. He waved at Taehyung to come over their table as his friend made space for him to sit on. He parked his scooter near the door, telling the barista at the counter to take care of my baby because he’s worth a month’s allowance. The barista- Momo, as what he read from her nametag- grunted in response after briefly looking up from the counter to glance at his scooter.
Taehyung smiled to himself as he walked towards Hoseok’s table. His favourite Disney song was playing at the café and he can see Momo bobbing her head slightly on the beat as she mouths the words of the song. “I got you your usual order, Tae. I hope that’s fine with you,” his eyes lit up at the sight of his tea and (already buttered) plate of toast. Taehyung dropped his bag on the floor, sat down beside Hoseok, and began inhaling his food.
He was on his second piece of toast when Hoseok spoke. “Yoongi-hyung, this is Taehyung.” This Yoongi-hyung in front of him has pale blue hair and an even paler skin. There are bags under his eyes and judging by his drink, Taehyung is pretty sure this hyung is running on two hours of sleep. Three hours max.
Hoseok was about to speak again but he decided that he should introduce himself personally to his favourite hyung’s friend. “Kim Taehyung, art major, theatre minor. I like this song playing right now. It’s my ultimate Disney favourite.” Taehyung saw how Yoongi tensed up and slowly hid his fists under the table.
Was there something wrong with what I just said? He thought. Taehyung was always ready to fight if someone mocked him for his music preference. What is wrong with liking Disney soundtracks? They were fucking amazing, he reasoned with himself that when Yoongi spoke, he didn’t hear him the first time.
“Do you happen to live at the Red Hall?”
“Yeah. Are you residing there too? I’m at 613,” Taehyung even smiled, not wanting to upset Yoongi more with whatever he’s being upset about. The latter took a deep breath before looking straight into his eyes and answering, “I’m sorry but please shut the fuck up during the ass crack of dawn. I want to have at least three hours of sleep before I start to slave myself every day at the studio. Thank you very much.” He then took a big swig of his coffee, stood up, and left them at the café- both baffled with whatever just happened between them.
“Well, that’s Yoongi-hyung for you, Tae. Now go and drink your tea because Joonie is probably getting crazy waiting for you.” Hoseok smiled at him through his mug of warm chocolate.
xx
His room was in the middle of the hall. He was sandwiched between 612 and 614. Room 618 was directly in front of him. Taehyung had two weeks to spend to track down where Mean Yoongi lived. He wanted to apologize to the latter for being too loud during the night, but being the petty piece of ass he was, he won’t. He wasn’t the one who’s mean here. Taehyung actually wanted to be friends withYoongi and introduce him to his friends, so they would have this big group and it would be more fun.
(He laughed with Hoseok as he told him about his pun. “Get it? Mean Yoongi. Get it?”)
They were in his room a few hours before Jimin’s birthday. He had asked Namjoon and Hoseok to help him decorate the house for the surprise party. Jungkook, his brother’s boyfriend, volunteered to cook something for them. He was just about to finish hanging the balloons HBD CHIMS, it said) when he heard something from next door. He then heard Namjoon’s exaggerated gasping.
“What room number is this again, Tae?” his brother asked. He stepped down from the stool he’s been on. He told him his room number, still confused as to why his own brother didn’t know where he lives.
Namjoon was looking at Hoseok with wide eyes, waiting for the latter to get the message he’s been trying to send. It took the other a few minutes before he stared back at Namjoon with his equally big, bright eyes. “Isn’t that the song you sent Yoongi-hyung last night?” Namjoon nodded before they booked it towards the door and banged at the next door. He followed them outside with Jungkook behind him.
The duo must have suddenly remembered about the older's temper because Taehyung suddenly found himself being shoved in front, right in time as the door swung open with so much force. He was surprised it didn't hit him when he was standing so close to it. "What the fuck is your fucking problem?" A glaring, red-faced Yoongi stood at the door with his fists clenched to his side. He glared at Taehyung, who was standing at the very front, then at Namjoon and Hoseok, then at Jungkook. "I am fucking busy. What the fuck do you all fucking want?"
Taehyung found himself raising his hands in defense in case Yoongi decided to punch one of them. "Yoongi-ssi, I'm so sorry. My brother here and Hobi-hyung," he motioned to them hiding behind him, "heard whatever you're editing next door and they both went nuts and decided to bang on your door." He saw the other heave out a huge sigh and took it as a positive thing. He's not going to punch me, thank god. "Also, do you maybe want to come and have dinner with us? I disturbed you all the fucking time, so please let me at least treat you some dinner. Jungkookie here brought some lamb skewers."
That seemed to do the trick because they all found themselves inside his dorm, singing Happy birthday to a teary-eyed Jimin as he opened the door. "My soulmate! Happy happy birthday, Jiminie!" Jimin hugged Taehyung, squishing his poorly wrapped gift between them. "Thank you, Tae. What did I ever do to deserve someone like you?" They hugged again and Namjoon took it as his queue to play the song that they've been composing for weeks.
The song started with Taehyung's voice then a soft strumming of guitar. Jimin let go of the hug to look at Namjoon then went back to hugging his best friend tighter than before. "I don't know what to do with you, Taetae. Thank you for being my best friend." The latter just nodded, eyes welling up with tears. Almost everyone in the room with them was getting emotional as the song reached the end. Even Yoongi, who was only invited a few minutes ago, was starting feel a lump in his throat and tears ready to spill.
"I know I am ruining the moment as I speak but the food is getting cold," Jungkook cleared his throat before continuing, "Also, the l can't wait to eat my skewers." That made Jimin laugh, agreeing with the youngest. He sliced the cake and motioned everyone to start eating. They decided to call it a night when Jungkook noticed that it was getting a bit late. They all bid goodbye and wished Jimin a happy birthday before leaving.
Taehyung was cleaning up the living room when he heard a faint knock on the door. He was expecting his brother because he always forgot something whenever he visited. "What did you forget this time, hyung?" He shouted as he placed their used cups in the garbage bag.
Except it wasn’t his brother. "I need you to please sing for my demo tape," Yoongi stood there, looking at him with hopeful eyes. He blinked. The older cleared his throat and repeated what he said. "You have a really good voice and I know it'll fit with the lyrics and the melody that I've been working on."
"Okay," Taehyung smiled. "This is the least that I can do because I kept on disturbing you with my Little Mermaid concert every night. I'm really sorry about that, Yoongi-ssi."
He turned back before heading back to his own room. “Also, you can call me hyung.”
--
Yoongi went back to his room in a hurry after hearing Taehyung's answer. He wasn't expecting the latter to say yes because he knew he was asking for something big. He wouldn't agree that fast if he was asked the same question. He felt his back hit the door as he closes it and slid down to the floor.
It's true that he needed someone to provide some vocals in his new track, but he wrote the track thinking of asking Suran, a member from his Music Production Club, for the vocals. He arranged the notes to fit with her range. Damn, he needed to go back to work right now and fix everything that needed adjustments.
Tonight, was a long ass night.
xx
It took Yoongi three days to finish editing the tracks. He needed Taehyung to record two full tracks and take part in a small skit. They’re halfway through their break and he needed to finish this project as soon as he can, so he can still have a few weeks to just rest and charge on sleep. He copied the tracks on a small flash drive and printed the lyrics that the younger needed to study before packing his bag and head to the Café. He called Taehyung earlier that day to tell him about his plans for the next few days. The latter agreed on meeting him outside and insisted on treating him some coffee.
“Hyung!” he heard Taehyung call him from the other side of the Café. He was about to fall in line but the younger motioned at their table where he saw a few plates of sandwiches and a cup of coffee. He was hoping that it’s black because coffee should always be taken black. “I got you a sandwich and an Americano because that’s what you ordered when you were with Hobi-hyung before. I also don’t know what you like,” he noticed the blush creeping on the other’s cheeks. Yoongi smiled and thanked him because this is my usual order. Thank you very much.
They went on with their one-week plan of recording and post-production of the tracks that needed to be worked on. They were to record the song for a week and start with the post-production process the following week. Taehyung wanted to be there with Yoongi for two whole weeks insisting that this is my first track ever, Yoongi-hyung! Please let me see the post-production process. Pretty please? And Yoongi can’t help but sigh in defeat before nodding. “Okay, Taehyung. But you can’t let them hear the song until it’s released.”
They went on with their plans until the café closed. Yoongi, being an emotional cardboard he is, won’t ever admit to anyone (especially someone named Jung Hoseok) that he had loads of fun with Taehyung that day. He wasn’t really planning on staying that long with the other but hearing him talk about his passions and dogs made him swallow back the excuses he made to leave. Yoongi found himself wanting to spend more time with Taehyung rather than being holed up inside his room and watching Netflix alone.
--
“Tae, for the last fucking time, you look good in any shirt you wear. Even the one with the cut-out sleeves,” Jimin managed to avoid getting hit in the face with the last shirt his best friend threw in his haste to look casually okay for Yoongi-hyung. “You look bomb as fuck, Tae. 19 out of 10, would bang if you weren’t my best friend.”
Taehyung turned to look at Jimin, who was sprawled on top of his bed. He’s wearing a floral-printed polo shirt tucked in his jeans. This was his tenth (as far as Jimin could tell) attempt on coming up with a decent outfit. Jimin can also see a few of his shirts from the pile on the floor. He wasn’t even mad even though one of his new shirts (one that he hasn’t worn) was included in the disregarded pile near him because this is the first time Taehyung wanted to look good in front of someone. He didn’t give a single shit about what he wears most of the time because he chooses comfort over fashion so this, whatever was happening in front of him, was all new to him.
Taehyung sighed defeatedly. Jimin was not helping him in anyway. “Chims, I don’t want him to think that I’m too casual around him. We’re going to talk abo-“
“About the track that you’re going to record for him. And yes, it’s to pay him back because you kept him from sleeping peacefully at night. I know, Tae,” he saw his friend pout and cross his arms in front of his chest. “And I know how important this is to you but, Tae, you look amazing in whatever you wear. You’re Kim Superman Taehyung.”
The other smiled and chucked a shirt in his direction. “You don’t have to say all that, Chimchim, but thank you. I needed that.” Taehyung can feel confidence bubbling up in his chest. He went over and hugged Jimin and told the latter not to wait for him because he might go over his brother’s house for dinner.
He was about to go out the door when he heard Jimin call him from his room. He looked back, one hand holding the doorknob and the other adjusting his left shoe. “I also know you have a crush on Yoongi-hyung.”
Good thing Jimin has fast reflexes because he doesn’t like having shoe imprints on his cheeks at any time of the day,
xx
They recorded one song a day as what they’ve planned. It was on the last day of recording when Taehyung walked up into Yoongi’s booth outside the recording studio and asked him if he wanted to go have dinner after his work. The older found himself nodding at him before turning back to finish editing the track they were working on earlier that day.
Taehyung took him to a small hole-in-the-wall restaurant near The Shelter. He liked eating there whenever he needed a place to just chill and stay for a while. “I just thought you might like eating in a quiet place rather than in a fast food,” he looked at Yoongi who was already looking at the menu. Ah, he probably didn’t hear me, he thought.
They sat at the booth near the back where it was mostly quiet. They were both scrolling through their phones- Taehyung, replying to Jimin after missing 34 texts and two missed calls, and Yoongi, texting Hoseok to shut the fuk up hobi, im prtty sure i dont have a crush on tae.
“I do like to have dinner in a chill place,” Yoongi smiled at Taehyung, who almost choked on his pasta. The latter thanked him after recovering himself from the embarrassment and they both continued eating in silence.
--
On their last day of pre-production, Yoongi insisted on driving them home after dinner, noting that they both live in the same hall and that it would make him sleep peacefully that night knowing that Taehyung made it safe home. They were both silent during the ride home with Yoongi making small comments about the traffic. He wasn’t feeling uncomfortable with being quiet with Taehyung even though the younger is bursting with energy almost most of the time.
It was a cozy kind of silence that they were engulfed with. It felt like waking up in the morning without the annoying blare of his alarm; It felt like the silence you all go through after having a really nice meal and everyone was smiling because they all had a good time; It felt like walking in the park, holding hands with someone you really like. Ah, Yoongi thought, it felt like love.
And it wasn’t until they said their goodbye. thank you for today’s when it struck Yoongi. The blush that he always felt creep on his cheeks, the way his hands get clammy when Taehyung smiles at him, the way his heart hammered against his chest when he first heard the younger sang the words to his song, the way he kept on finding himself scribbling lyrics that were about Taehyung.
“Oh,” was all that he could say when as he pulled out his phone from his back pocket. Yoongi opened his conversation with Hoseok, typed a message as quick as he can, and threw his phone haphazardly on the sofa.
hobi.
i fckin h8 dat ure ryt.
xx
Even though they finished everything that needed to be done on the track, Taehyung kept on hanging out in Yoongi’s studio. He would bring the older dinner when he found out about him staying late again, knowing that he probably hasn’t moved away from the computer to even have a glass of water. He would bring him snacks and would just stay inside the studio, reading a book or scrolling through his phone.
“Aren’t you getting bored, Tae? I’m sorry that I can’t do anything with you,” Yoongi, after saving a file, turned his chair to look back at the other. They’ve been inside the studio for almost half a day now with Yoongi facing his computer and Taehyung, his book. He’s proud of himself for finishing three books now just by hanging out with the older in his studio. He was finally opening and going through the books he hoarded a few months ago when he went on a bookstore trip with his brother. “Don’t you miss the energy outside my boring place?”
Taehyung looked up from his book. He’s been trying to understand Herman Hesse’s Demian for a while now because Namjoon just can’t stop talking about how the book is so good. I can’t even put the book down when I first picked it up! So, he gave it a try. He bought his own copy because he knows his brother’s copy is filled with notes and theories. Taehyung was going to need all the space he could get to write all the questions he knew he’ll be having while reading the book.
“I like being in here, hyung. Don’t worry about me,” he smiled reassuringly. He ignored the hammering of his heart on his chest and the zoo going fucking haywire in his stomach. He wanted to punch Jimin square in the face for being right about him having a crush on Yoongi. He can’t help the groan bubbling up in his chest as he continued reading his book.
He felt the other nudge him with his shoe. “Let’s go get lunch. I’m hungry.”
--
Yoongi wasn’t even that hungry. He just wanted to get out of the studio and spend some time with Taehyung outside rather than keep him holed up inside his stuffy work area with nothing to do but read. He likes that the younger is there. It kept him motivated to actually do some things. Heck, he even finished the track earlier than he expected and still be alive and healthy.
They headed to the café where they first met. Yoongi chuckled at the memory. True enough, Part of Your World is playing on the speakers and the small barista, who was manning the counter before, stood waiting for their orders.
“Hi, Momo! Can we have the usual please?” The barista briefly looked at him before writing their orders in their respective cups. Another barista, Mina, prepared their drinks. They sat at the only available table and waited for their names to be called.
His mind was going a mile a minute, thinking about how lucky he was to be with Kim Taehyung, the most adorable person he knew (screw Jung Hoseok), right now at the café. He knew how much he liked the latter and would like to be with him for a very long time. Yoongi knew he should confess his feelings before it was too late for him to even call Taehyung by his name. He knew how much it would mean to him when the younger accepts his confession.
Taehyung was mouthing along with the song as he bobs his head to the rhythm. He can’t help but smile at how cute the other looked. “You really like this song huh,” the younger looked at him, trying to hide his embarrassment in being caught lip-singing. Ah. Yoongi can feel his heartstrings being pulled and the clouds passing below his feet. Taehyung nodded and told him about the best parts of the movie and what his favourite characters are. Even about the time he saw Namjoon and Jungkook crying when Triton saved Ariel from Ursula.
Yoongi made up his mind. If he’s gonna confess, he’s gonna have to do it the right way.
xx
it sucks that we don't have any leftover wine, but beer's good too.
Taehyung, like any other nights, was on a fucking roll. He was feeling exceptionally good that night even though he doesn’t have a single clue as to why he was feeling that way. He hopped on the bath after waiting for his bubble bars to start bubbling. The smell of lavender and lemon wafted through the air and it was enough to make Taehyung sigh in content. His night was completed when he pressed play on his speaker and the first notes of Part of Your World were heard inside his small bathroom.
He was singing along as he sipped on his can of beer. He wasn’t prepared for the night and he preferred drinking wine while in the bath rather than cheap beer that he found in Jimin’s stash hidden in their fridge. He smiled at the sudden memory of his first meeting with Yoongi back at the café with Hoseok. It’s not what he was expecting when he first saw the older back then. He wasn’t expecting
Yoongi to lash out on his nightly concert but can’t also blame the latter because even he would do the same.
Taehyung closed his eyes and sank into the bath until his lips were into the water. I’m just gonna enjoy the night and not think of anything else.
He was putting on the biggest shirt he can find in his drawer and his favourite pink shorts when he heard Jimin walked in. He was humming something under his breath and when he saw Taehyung staring at him, he beamed. “Tae! Look at this stuff. Isn’t it neat?” then proceeded on showing his friend the cutest (and probably the softest) Flounder plushie that he has ever seen. But before he can get his hands on the toy, Jimin pulled it away from him. “If you want yours, go get it next door. This is mine,” he said before marching to his bedroom and slamming the door.
Oh. Oh, you bet, Park Jimin. Taehyung straightened his shirt and puffed his chest out. I will get a Little Mermaid plushie, you sprite.

romantic fort set-up? check. little mermaid playlist? check. romantic gift? check.
Yoongi can hear Taehyung’s voice bleed through the wall. He looked around his room, checking if everything is in its right place. He can’t have something wrong happen to him tonight. He needed all the luck he can get. Please, let me be lucky tonight, he thought while standing in the middle of the room. “Good luck, hyung. I know you’ll take care of my best friend,” Jimin patted his back, reassuring him that everything is going to be fine. I know it will be. Yoongi thanked him before pushing him out of the door to go through as what they've planned.
“Hyung! Why did you give Jiminie the Flounder plushie when you know that I love the Little Mermaid?” He then heard the door slammed against the wall revealing a huffing Kim Taehyung standing outside. It was all huffing at first. Then he heard a soft gasp.
Then silence.
It was silent for a few minutes that even Jimin, who was next door, took a quick peek at what was happening before dashing back to his own room. Yoongi slowly turned around to look at the younger, who was still standing at the doorway with his mouth open and eyes gleaming with tears.
“What is happening here?” was all the latter could say. Yoongi, even with the deafening throb of his heart, can hear the quiver in Taehyung’s voice. The soft music playing in the background was playing the chorus of Part of Your World.
He took a step towards Taehyung. Then another. Then another until he was a few feet away. “I know I’m not Ariel but maybe,” he paused and took a deep breath, “maybe you want to be a part of my world?” He wasn’t planning on embarrassing himself in front of the love of his life but if he was, he would have let his knees give up and fall face first on the floor. His hands are shaking and he can feel Taehyung’s mind gear running.
“Oh, hyung,” was all he heard before he was slammed into the other’s chest in a tight hug. “What did I do to have you in my life? I don’t care if you’re not Ariel or Prince Eric. Fuck, I don’t fucking care if you’re not Sebastian because it’s you that I want.” Taehyung pulled away from the hug to look at him. “I don’t want you to be a part of my world, Min Yoongi-hyung.”
Oh. I am gonna be rejected right now. I won’t cry. No. Don’t cry while he’s here, Min Yoongi. You’re a strong man.
“Because you are my world.”
Yoongi, being interrupted in his monologue, looked at Taehyung with wide eyes. "What?" He croaked. He's fully aware at how he's ruining the moment with his occasional internal monologues but that's something he'll worry in another day. "Can you please just repeat the last thing you said because I was kinda talking to myself when you spoke and I didn't ca-"
He was cut off when a pair of lips crushed against his. It took Yoongi a few seconds to comprehend what was happening before it clicked into him. He closed his eyes and sighed as he leaned closer into Taehyung, kissing the daylights out of him. They pulled apart and looked into each other's eyes. "You can't be a part of my world because you are my world."
Yoongi smiled, that one smile that makes Taehyung's heart go batshit crazy inside his chest. He placed the necklace he's been holding on to with the little shell pendant around the younger's neck. "We can stand here all night or watch the best Disney movie of all times and eat a shit ton of chips inside our fort. What do you think?"
"You had me at Disney movie."

It was two in the morning. Two bubble bars are fizzling in the bath and the intro to Part of Your World was playing through the speakers. Taehyung shimmied out of his clothes before hopping inside the tub. "Hyung! Hurry up or the water will get cold," he said as he settled in the tub, leaving room for Yoongi. He can hear the older shuffling from the kitchen, holding two glass wines in one hand and a bottle of rosé on the other. He placed them on the counter before taking his clothes off.
They're both settled in and was having a great time sipping their wines when Taehyung decided to sing along with the song. Yoongi giggled at him before joining in. Minutes later, they both heard a banging on the wall and Jimin shouting at them.
"I swear to god, you assholes. I need my sleep and if I hear you singing again, I will rip both your asses apart!"
