Like vampires need blood to live, familiars need magic.
Technically speaking, a familiar could live without a witch (known as witchless or stray familiars), they would just need to find another magic creature willing to give them magic or buy magic bags. But Wooyoung is not willing to let anyone know he’s a familiar and with this economy, only rich people can afford magic bags. So he had to get creative when his personal quest to be a “witchless familiar that everyone thinks is human but not starve to death” started.

Summary
Newly turned vampire Yunho quickly realizes that living forever is a lot less thrilling than he assumed. Constant noise, the thirst for blood and the harsh reality of outliving everyone you ever know isn't exactly exciting. Enter Mingi who decides that Yunho should be part of his little family. Unfortunately for Yunho, the other vampire is both madeningly hot and infuriatingly annoying.
Or: Yunho is a vampire, Mingi is a vampire, they can't stop fighting, but they also kinda want to kiss.

Summary
The scene should be something out of a romantic comedy. One with a happy ending where the repressed lead finally breaks free from the shackles of society and kisses the deuteragonist square on the mouth, professing his feelings.
With Yunho in the cast, it's the start of a tragedy. He's the clingy, obsessive, jealous crush who is never brave enough to take the leap to better himself.
But today, Yunho doesn't want to watch that movie.
He wants to pretend, just once, that things could be different.
Wants to just be Yunho, alone with the boy he yearns for, even if he can't say the words out loud.
Yunho grapples with all the ways he loves Song Mingi, and the fact that he doesn't deserve to.
