Work Text:
Mick was sort of aware of his feelings for Leonard. He knew he felt different when he was around him, but he never knew what it was. Sure, he would be the first to admit that Leonard was attractive. He had the beautiful blue eyes that everyone adored, and since the age of 14, Leonard was starting to mature amazingly. He appreciated how Leonard looked but it didn't mean anything else.
Firstly, Mick wasn't gay. He had been with women before- not many admittedly because sex wasn't something that he particularly bothered about. But hell, if he said he didn't fantasise about Leonard being under him screaming his name he would be lying.
He really didn't understand his feelings. He knows he wants to protect Leonard, always. Cause the idiot couldn't fight and sure Mick's been teaching him but because Leonard didn't eat properly 90% of the time he was weak too. Mick loved to cook for Leonard- mainly because if Mick didn't the idiot would starve to death- but he did like to cook as well. And the Snart siblings seemed to actually like his cooking.
But he's unsure if it was something to be proud of when all they've really ate in their lives was something out of a damn box because their dick of a father never bothered to look out for them so Mick did.
Leonard spent a lot of time with Mick anyway. He enjoys having both Snart siblings around, even if it was less often that Lisa was round. They always were gone before night fall, even if it was Leonard alone, and don't stay round for the night- even if Mick and Leonard had a big job coming up, and Leonard was a perfectionist. They frightened for the response from Lewis if he ever found out.
That's why he was worried one night when Leonard turned up at his door one night, soaked from the rain and carrying a crying Lisa in his arms.
Leonard was taught by his father that feelings equal weakness. Every time he needed something or felt something, there was always a slap, or punch or kick in response. So Leonard slowly started to learn to not give a fuck about anything.
Well anything but his younger sister. Leonard adored her, looked after her because their useless father wouldn't bother.
There was a reason why Lewis hated his kids, Leonard's mother died giving birth and Lisa's left him for another man shortly after Lisa was born. So Lewis' anger was took out on his kids- constantly.
Leonard did his best to always protect Lisa- from the world and from his father and always, always kept her away from his life of crime. Sure she knew Mick but she was never told what they actually did together. Most of the time Leonard was successful, until the one night he wasn't.
One day he come back from Mick's- staying a little later than usual because he lost track of time whilst playing a big job- and he came back to see Lewis standing over Lisa, who was kneeling in a corner, tears pouring out of her eyes.
At that moment, Leonard didn't care what Lewis would do back to him, he used all the power that he had to push Lewis off Lisa.
"Lise. You okay?" Leonard asked and got a small nod out of her- he could see blood but couldn't see the source of it. "Lise. Run too my car and get in I'll be right there." He then added and Lisa stood up and walked outside- sure it was raining but that was better than her witnessing this.
"You! Suppose the brat that you call a little sister wasn't enough but you'd do nicely. How is my worthless son?" Lewis sneered.
"You don't touch her ever again." Leonard growled, feeling nothing but anger now. "She's only 8! What kind of sick fuck are you? Do you get some form of joy beating up your kids?!" Leonard yelled, standing up to his father for the first time in his life.
"Don't you take that tone with me, boy. You're still my son. I can do what I like too you." Lewis said, taking a steps too Leonard. "I can never understand why you love that brat. Did my lessons never work with you? Emotions are weakness, Leo." He then added before punching Leonard in the face and a couple more into the gut before pushing him over. Maybe I need to teach you some more, you're a naughty, stupid student." Lewis finished, kicking Leonard a couple of times.
"Do your worse too me just leave her alone." Leonard sneered, pushing him self up, leaning against the wall until he regains his balance.
"Don't tempt me, but you're not worth it. You're worthless, no ones going to want you. Your own mother died and Lisa's mother didn't want you either. Get out of my sight." Lewis chuckled before turning round towards the kitchen- presumably to get another beer.
Leonard groaned as he pushed himself away from the wall. He's had worse- nothing was broken this time. Deciding to follow Lewis' orders, he left the house deciding not too look back and in the car and started the engine
"Lenny... I'm cold and I hurt." Lisa said, holding her shoulder. Leonard sighed and reached to hug her carefully to not hurt her more or himself before starting to drive too Micks.
"It'll be okay Lise. I promise." Leonard said, as he carried on driving down, holding her hand. He could hear every sob she was making, and he made himself a promise that, that would be the last time Lewis would get close to Lisa for a long long time.
"Lenny? Lisa? What are you doing here?" Mick said, sleepily. He had just dozed off before he got interrupted by knocking. Realising the state that the pair of them were in, he moved out the way and welcomed the siblings into his home, closing the door behind him.
"Lewis." Leonard answered, sitting Lisa down on Mick's couch, earning a whimper off Lisa. "Mick get your first aid kit there's a cut somewhere- I think it's on her shoulder cause she's been holding it- and I'll get clothes." He then demanded and Mick went to get the first aid kit and Leonard went to Mick's room to get the clothes he kept spare there.
"Lise. Take off your shirt let me have a look." Mick instructed and Lisa nodded and slowly took her shirt off, whimpering slightly when she pulled it off over her shoulders and head. "It's okay Lise.." Mick attempted to comfort and she nodded.
"How bad is it Mickey?" Lisa asked, attempting to look back at him.
"It's going to need a couple of stitches.. is that glass.. Lise what happened?" Mick said, getting the tweezers out of the first aid kid, and carefully pulling out the small pieces of glass out of the cut.
"Dad.. he was drunk and angry and I happened to be there cause grandad dropped me off from ice skating cause Lenny couldn't.. I got a beer bottle thrown at me.. well at the wall but some of it rebounded and it me." Lisa explained, as Leonard walked back in with dry clothes on and some for Lisa.
"I know, that was.. uh.. works fault. They kept us both otherwise he would have. This is going to hurt.." Mick said, as he started to stitch up the deeper parts of the cut. Once they were stitched up, he applied a bandage to keep it covered and hopefully it will keep the stitches from becoming infected. Mick packed away the first aid kit and turned round to face Leonard who had a look of.... admiration?
"Lise. Go but these on before you get sick." Leonard instructed and Lisa nodded and got up and walked into Mick's room. Mick walked back to Leonard and sat down on the couch with him.
"Sorry to bother you so late Mick.." Leonard drawled before looking down. "I didn't know where else too go. Hospitals ask questions and I couldn't..." Leonard trailed off before Mick interrupted.
"Len, it's okay. I don't mind you know I'm always here for you and Lise." Mick assured and Leonard took a deep breath and nodded.
"Do you mind if we stay here for the night? We can't go back there, I won't take her. I want him to pay for what he did too her." Leonard growled, feeling himself getting angry again.
"Len it's fine. Take the spare room, it's yours to have whenever you need it anyway. You know that." Mick said and Lisa came back.
"We're having a sleepover at Mickeys? Yay!" Lisa jumped getting excited before yawning.
"Seems like someone's tired, off too bed." Leonard said, standing up.
"I'll be there in a minute." Lisa said and Leonard nodded before walking towards the spare bedroom.
"If you hurt him, I'll hurt you." Lisa threatened before hugging Mick. "Night Mickey!" She then added going sweet again. Mick sat there confused for several minutes. Realising how long it's been and that Leonard hadn't come back, he walked over to the spare room and looked in the room. There he saw both Lisa and Leonard asleep, book open on Leonard's chest- who knows where the book came from.
Smiling as he stood there watching them, Lisa threatening him suddenly made sense too him.
" I'm in love with Leonard.... shit" Mick whispered, everything suddenly making sense to him... how he feels about him. The need to protect him always. He always knew it was more than friendship their relationship.
But Mick then realised.. he was alright with that.
