Kirishima, Bakugou and their daughter Kiko are going to have a play date with Deku, Iida and their boys

Notes:

While this is a standalone fic, if you haven't read the fic This is the Life, which is from this same series, you might want to do that since it is the fic that first introduced Kiko. It isn't necessary to understand the fic though. Just if you want to have more info on Kiko before you read this one.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter Text

“Daddy! Papa! Wake up! Wake Up!” Kirishima heard as he felt something jump onto his and Bakugou’s bed.

Kirishima groaned as he slowly opened his eyes to see what had jumped on his bed. To both his joy and dismay it was his daughter, Kiko, who had run into the room and jumped on his bed, full of energy and enthusiasm that only a kid could have at this point in the morning. Kirishima quickly covered his face with one of his pillows after he saw who it was.

“Ugh. 5 more minutes.” Kirishima responded, though it came out slightly muffled by the pillow over his face.

“Whoever said having kids was a joy, obviously never met one at 7 o’clock in the morning on a Saturday.” Bakugou pointed out as he slowly began to wake up too.

Kiko ripped off the pillow from Kirishima’s face as she said. “Come on Daddy. I can’t use that excuse so you can’t either.”

Kirishima gave a small mischievous smile at this. “Oh really? I can't huh? Well let’s just see about that.”

Kirishima proceeded to grab Kiko by her waist, pull her close, and then start tickling her mercilessly. Kiko, who was unprepared for and helpless at this sudden onslaught, could only laugh. After about 30 seconds or so, Kirishima paused, asking Kiko.

“How about now? Can I use that excuse now?”

Kiko, barely able to breath, only responded with. “No, you can’t.”

“Alright then. Don’t say I didn’t give you a chance.”

Screams and laughter began to echo across the room as Kirishima began tickling Kiko once again. After about 10 more seconds Kiko, out of breath, yelled out. “Fine…You can…use that excuse.”

Kirishima stopped after hearing this and, chuckling, said. “Good. I’m glad we’re on the same page now.”

“No wonder everyone calls you the active one out of the two of us.” Bakugou pointed out as he leaned over and gave a quick kiss to both of the other people on the bed. Bakugou then gave a massive, bone cracking, stretch and groan as he got up out of bed, opening his dresser drawer to grab a shirt.

“At least we’re both awake now though.” Kirishima chimed in cheerfully.

“Uh huh. Time for some coffee then I guess. I’ll go start it.” Bakugou almost grunted out in response.

“Thanks babe. I’ll be out in a sec then.” Kirishima replied as he got of out of bed and headed towards the bathroom.

“Alright, Kiko. Let’s head into the kitchen.” Bakugou announced as he headed out of the bedroom.

————————

After a few minutes, Kirishima headed into the kitchen, wearing sweat pants and a white shirt, hair as spiky as usual.

“Coffee ready?” Kirishima asked Bakugou as he sat at the kitchen bar, ending his sentence in a large yawn.

“You’re just in time actually.” Bakugou answered as he passed Kirishima a mug filled to the brim with steaming hot coffee, “World’s Best Husband” spelled out in large red letters around the side of it.

“And this is why I love you.” Kirishima said as he grabbed the mug and took a small sip of it. “Ooh. Just as good as usual. You always make the best coffee babe.”

Kirishima saw Bakugou smile a little at that. “Of course I do. It’s not like it’s hard to make it for you after all. You’ve got one of the biggest sweet tooth’s that I know of.”

Kirishima, agreeing with the statement, didn't respond and just let the quiet wash over the both of them. After a few minutes Kirishima, curious as to how there was so much quiet, especially after the wake up they had just experienced asked. “How is it so quiet? Where’s Kiko?”

Bakugou, smiling slightly as he sipped from his coffee mug responded. “I asked her if she had brushed her teeth this morning.”

“Oh. I see.” Kirishima replied. “Well, hopefully she should be done about now then.”

As if by magic, there was a pattering of footsteps and Kiko appeared around the corner, dressed in an outfit similar to Kirishima’s. “Alright Papa. I brushed my teeth ad everything. Are you happy now?” She said with a slightly exasperated tone.

“Yes, I am baby. But, you know, I wouldn't have to nag you about it if you did it right when you woke up.”

“Yeah, yeah. Whatever.” Kiko responded as she came to sit next to Kirishima at the bar.

“So, when are they coming over?” Kiko asked Kirishima.

“I think they said shortly after lunch.” Kirishima replied.

After a few seconds Bakugou, confused, asked. “Who is coming over shortly after lunch?”

Kirishima, who was confused that Bakugou asked, replied. “Deku and Iida are coming over with Ren and Kenji today. I set this up like last week.”

“Yeah, you set this up last week. I wasn’t aware of it till just now.”

“Oh…well surprise! Deku and Iida are coming over today after lunch for a playdate.” Kirishima said, shrugging his shoulders and holding up his hands in a “oops I’m sorry” kind of gesture.

Kirishima, who saw Bakugou’s face sour slightly at this news, continued. “It’s not like we can stop this now so you better play nice. Kiko has been looking forward to this all week”

Bakugou, still with a slightly sour look, drank from his coffee and mumbled, mostly into the cup. “Alright. I’ll be fine. Don’t worry about it. I won’t mess up anything for Kiko.”

“Aww. Thank you, babe. You're the best.” Kirishima cheered as he got up and gave Bakugou a quick kiss on before he put his mug in the sink.

“So, it’s…” Kirishima looked at the clock on the wall. “…8am right now. We have about 5 hours until they get here. So, we need to make sure this house looks presentable.”

Kirishima stared at Kiko. “That means the whole house. Which includes your room too.”

Kiko, with a look of surprise and horror on her face, whined. “But Daddy, why do I have to clean my room. It’s not even that messy.”

“Oh, really now? Is it? Do you want me to check on that?”

Kiko frowned and grunted. “No.”

“Alright then. That means you have to clean your room. Unless you want me to call Ren and Kenji’s dad’s and tell them to not come over because someone didn't clean her room.”

Kiko, now with a full on frown and eyebrows furrowed, whined. “No. Don’t do that. Please. I’ll clean my room.”

“Good. I want you to have it done by lunch. So that gives you 4 hours. Me and Papa will clean the rest of that hour during that time. Got it?”

“Yes Daddy. I got it.” Kiko said, as she stood up and slowly made her way to her room.

After Kiko had left the room Bakugou, in mock horror, said. “Wow. You’re such a slave driver. Making her clean her room. How could you?”

“Shush you. She is certainly stubborn though. I wonder where she gets it from?” Kirishima grinned at Bakugou.

Bakugou grinned back. “Yeah, I’m the stubborn one. Who was it again that decided to face down five villains at the same time after already having worked the entire day?”

Kirishima, face blank, replied. “You…I distinctly remember saying to you afterwards, when you were collapsed in the hospital ‘Idiot, why did you think fighting five villains at the end of the day was a good idea?’ Remember?”

Bakugou, his face going from triumphant sneer to embarrassed shock, was only able to stutter. “Well, whatever. That doesn't mean you still aren't stubborn.”

“Yeah, yeah, I know Blasty. We’re both pretty stubborn.” Kirishima’s responded as he grabbed Bakugou’s hands, squeezed them for a sec, and then started cleaning the kitchen.

————————

Kirishima, with a huff, sat down on the couch. “Well that’s the living room, kitchen and dining room done. Now all that’s left is our bedroom.”

Kirishima looked up at the clock. “We are making a good pace too. It’s only 10 o’clock at the moment. We should be finished by 11:30 at the latest.”

Bakugou stared at Kirishima. “Yeah, we might be done. But what about the princess? You think she’ll be done in time?”

Kirishima, confident, replied. “Yeah, she’ll be fine. She may hate it, but she’s got your work ethic so she’ll have it done. Plus, she doesn't want to disappoint Ren or Kenji. I know they've all been looking forward to this all week.”

Bakugou grinned a bit. “Yes, that’s true but you still need to go check on her and get her to finish. You know how bad she is at finishing her room.”

“Fine. Give me the hard job.” Kirishima said as he stuck his tongue out at Bakugou. “You go start on the bedroom and I’ll be in there whenever I finish with her.”

————————

As Kirishima headed toward Kiko’s room, he gradually began to hear noises that got louder and louder as he got closer. It sounded like voices, one slightly louder than the others, but he couldn’t exactly pinpoint who or how many there were. As he got closer though, almost to the point where he might have been able to distinguish them, the voices suddenly stopped and were replaced by rapid rustling sounds. As Kirishima approached the door to Kiko’s room he gave a light knock accompanied by, “Hey, Kiko. Can I come in?”

“Yeah, sure.” Kirishima heard from within the room.

As Kirishima opened the door and surveyed the room he gave a slight sigh. Kiko was currently rushing around the room picking up her clothes and tossing them into a large pile in the center. Kiko’s room, while smaller than his and Bakugou’s, was not small when compared to an average bedroom for a single child. It had a bed in the corner, tucked against the wall, a dresser and desk to the left of it, and a bookshelf that reached halfway up the wall, full to the brim with books, on the same wall as the bed. Kirishima saw Kiko as she gave him a small shy smile as he entered and looked at her.

“Hey Dad, I’ve been working hard in here. Cleaning my room just as you said.” She said as she tried to covertly kick something under her bed.

“Uh huh” is all Kirishima said as he looked around at the state of the room. It wasn’t terrible Kirishima noticed, but she clearly hadn’t been working as hard as she said she had been. There were still clothes on the floor, random bits of junk strewn over the floor. Kirishima sighed as he turned to face Kiko, arms crossed, face neutral.

“Have you really been working hard the entire time?” Kirishima asked with a slight edge to his voice.

“Yeah, of course I have.” Kirishima continued to look at Kiko, eyes narrowing.

“Kiko…you know how I feel about lying.”

Kiko, unable to look Kirishima directly in the eye, only stared down as she muttered out. “I mean, I guess I haven’t been working as hard as I could have been.”

Kirishima sighed, softening his gaze ever so slightly. “You should have just said that then. You know I wouldn’t be as mad if you didn’t lie to me about it first.”

Kiko, still unable to look up, said. “Yeah, I know.”

Kirshima, silent for a few seconds, gave a small smile as he went to pat Kiko’s head. “Alright, now that we’ve got that settled why don’t we discuss what you need to do.”

Kiko, now looking up at Kirishima, smiled. “Ok.”

“Overall your room doesn’t look too bad. You just need to pick up all the clothes, pickup all clutter, and vacuum. I know it shouldn’t take too long for you.”

Then Kirishima, his face falling neutral, continued with. “You have 2 hours to do this. If you aren’t done by then I will have to call Ren and Kenji’s dads and tell them they can’t come over today.”

Kirishima saw Kiko’s smile fall after she heard him. “Also, to make sure you have done a good job I’ll have Papa come up here and check on your room himself.”

After this, Kiko’s became visibly distraught and worried. “But Dad, why can’t you do it?”

“Because I know that if I do it you won’t take it seriously. If Papa does it though, I know you will.”

“But Papa is so strict and harsh about it. Even if I do it right he’ll say it’s wrong.”

Kirishima chuckled at Kiko’s plea. “He’s not that mean Kiko. And you know how to not have him be so harsh? Make sure to actually work on cleaning your room. Then you’ll be fine.”

Kiko, clearly not pleased with Kirishima’s response, mumbled something under her breath, too quiet for Kirishima to hear. Kirishima, aware of that, chose to ignore it as headed towards the door.

“I’ll leave you to clean your room now. If you finish early then come downstairs and tell Papa and he’ll come to check on your room. If you don’t then he’ll be up here in two hours. Ok?”

Kiko, monotone, replied. “Ok.”

“Great. I love you sweetie. I know you can do it.”

“Love you too Dad.” Was the last thing Kirishima heard as he closed the door to her room.

Kirishima sighed as he closed the door and paused for a second outside of it. I always hate that part. Kiko always looks so sad. I wish I didn’t have to do that. Kirishima thought as he headed back downstairs.

—————————

Kirishima, still caught up in his thoughts, headed towards his and Bakugou’s bedroom. As he reached the door the bedroom, which was on the larger side of master bedrooms considering that it had a king size bed, two large dressers and a TV stand in it, he saw Bakugou sitting on the bed, back against the headboard, reading a book. As Kirishima entered the room, seeing Bakugou seemingly engrossed in his book, he smiled and crouched down, hoping to sneak up on Bakugou and surprise him.

When Kirishima got about halfway across the room, trying his best to be as sneaky as possible, he heard. “What are you even doing Kirishima? I know you’re there.”

As he looked in the direction of the voice he saw Bakugou, or rather the book Bakugou was reading, since he hadn’t even looked away from it as he addressed Kirishima.

Kirishima, crestfallen, exhaled before responding. “Aww, Bakugou, come on. Can you just play along for once?”

“I wouldn’t have to if you were actually quite for once.” Bakugou replied, still not looking away from his book.

“But I thought you liked it when I was loud.” Kirishima, who had stood up and walked over to Bakugou, said with a playful grin across his face.

Bakugou, stunned for a second, lowered his book and looked at Kirishima, eyes looking over the top of the glasses he was currently wearing.

“Idiot.” Was all Bakugou said before he returned to his book.

“Bakugou. Babe. Parenting is so hard.”

Bakugou, rolling his eyes as he let out a slightly exasperated breath, still looking at his book asked. “What happened this time?”

“Well, when I went to check up on Kiko she clearly hadn’t, and wasn’t, cleaning her room and when I asked her about it she lied about it right to my face. I had to go all parent voice on her and I hated it. She looked so sad and I just wanted to hug her. But I knew I couldn’t because that sends the wrong message.”

Bakugou grabbed his bookmark, a bright red bookmark with explosions all over it that he had gotten from Kiko a few years ago, from the bedside table and put it in the book as he put it on the bed next to him as he told Kirishima. “I’m glad you were able to persevere. We can’t be nice all the time, both for her sake and ours.”

“Uh huh.” Kirishima responded as he climbed onto the bed to sit next to Bakugou. “Like you would have done any better, you big softy. Kiko is so scared of what you’ll say to her when she really shouldn’t be. I’m surprised she hasn’t figured out how much of a softie towards her you really are.”

Bakugou, face slightly red, tried to fight back against Kirishima by saying. “I am not. When have I been soft towards her?”

“Oh baby. How do you not see it? I have seen it happen multiple times where you let her stay up past her bedtime just because she wanted to watch another one of your fights. Also, you never raise your voice around her. You are absolutely under her spell.”

Bakugou, face pensive as he mulled all of this over in his head, only huffed. “Well, maybe. I guess that’s sort of true.”

Kirishima, seeing the slight distress on Bakugou’s face, gave him a kiss on the cheek as he said. “Don’t worry about it babe. You’re doing fine. Kiko absolutely adores you. She just doesn’t want to disappoint you is all.” Kirishima, pulling back into a sitting position next to Bakugou, continued. “By the way, I told Kiko that you would check her room before Deku and Iida came over. So, be prepared for that.”

Bakugou only gave Kirishima another blank stare from over his glasses in response.

“Hey. You know I had to do this or she wouldn’t get it done. I don’t want to cancel this as much as she does. We haven’t seen Deku and Iida for a few weeks and I want to catch up.” All Kirishima heard from Bakugou was a slight growl. “All right, fine. Be a stick in the mud for all I care.” Kirishima said as he huffed and moved to the other side of the bed.

Kirishima, disappointed and annoyed at Bakugou, heard him sigh as he leaned over the bed to look at Kirishima closer. “Kirishima.” He didn’t respond. “Kirishima…” Still nothing. “Come on Kirishima.” Kirishima only turned his head to face further away from Bakugou.

“Did you at least see that I cleaned the entire room before you even got back down? It wasn’t as nearly as messy as we thought so it was simple.” Bakugou said, trying to elicit any response from Kirishima.

After a few seconds Kirishima, still not responding to anything Bakugou said, heard Bakugou go back to his original sitting position and say. “Fine then. No response? I guess you give me no choice then.”

After some slight rustling Kirishima heard “Uh, it’s so hot in here” from Bakugou in the most obviously fake concerned voice Kirishima had ever heard. “It’s so hot that I can’t even bear it. I wonder what I could ever do. I guess I’ll just have to take my shirt off to compensate for the heat.”

Kirishima, unable to resist a slight peek, looked at Bakugou through the corner of his eyes. Immediately upon doing this Kirishima realized it was a grave mistake. He saw Bakugo, shirt off, well toned but still perfectly sleek chest in full view. Kirishima knew he couldn’t resist that body, but he also knew that he needed to resist it if he was going to win. His dignity was on the line after all.

As Kirishima was torn between his desire to remain indifferent in the face of a shirtless Bakugou, and his desire to immediately jump on him, he saw something else come into play.

Bakugou, now picking up his book again, started to fan himself with it in the most overly dramatic way possible. “Wow, it is so hot in here. Don’t you feel it Kirishima?”

Kirishima, his resolve quickly diminishing at this display, used the last of his willpower to remain passive in the face of this onslaught. Bakugou, seeing Kirishima about to crack, put down the book, and leaned over, onto Kirishima himself. “Hey, Kirishima, are you hot too?” Bakugou asked in the most stupidly naively voice Kirishima had ever heard. “Because I can fix that for you, if you want.”

After a few seconds of Bakugou laying right on top of him, Kirishima finally broke. “Fine, fine. You win. You happy? Now put your shirt back on before I do something about it.”

Bakugou smiled. “Alright. Just one second.”

Bakugou said as he leaned up and gave Kirishima a quick kiss on the lips before backing away and putting his shirt back on, to Kirishima’s both relief and dismay.

“You’re so unfair, you know that?”

Bakugou gave his usual triumphant sneer at that. “Yeah, but I won, didn’t I?”

Kirishima, laughing, picked up a pillow and threw it directly at Bakugou, who easily caught it with one hand.

“Nice try. Thanks for the pillow though. It’s mine now.” Bakugou said as he placed it with the other pillows on his side.

“Oh, no you don’t. How dare you steal that pillow. That’s my best one.” Kirishima almost yelled as he stood up on the bed and jumped on Bakugou, almost causing them both to fall off the bed.

“You want it? You’ll have to take it from me then.” Bakugou challenged Kirishima.

“Don’t worry. I will.” Kirishima told Bakugou as they began to wrestle across the bed.

——————————

After a few minutes of this, Kirishima, pinned to the bed by Bakugou, admitted defeat. “You got me this time, but you better watch out. I’ll get you next time.”

Bakugou, triumphant smile plastered all over his face, responded. “Good luck hair for brains. You’ll need it.”

Bakugou then leaning down face to face with Kirishima locked their lips together. Bakugou’s mouth was soft, but forceful, as he pressed against Kirishima’s lips. Kirishima felt Bakugou nip at his lips slightly, plying for entrance. Kirishima nipped backed at Bakugou’s lips as he opened his mouth. As he did he felt Bakugou’s tongue quickly dart into his mouth, filling up the space and fighting with Kirishima’s tongue. Kirishima let out a small moan as Bakugou’s tongue continued to move around in his mouth. Kirishima, not to be outdone, started to fight back against Bakugou, forcing both of their tongues into Bakugou’s mouth. This battle continued for several minutes, going back and forth, neither person able to seize completely control, before Bakugou pulled away, a smug smile spread across his face.

“At least you’re better at kissing than you are at fighting.” Bakugou said as he climbed off Kirishima.

Bakugou checked his watch as he stood up from the bed. After he noticed the time he said. “Looks like it’s just about time for me to check on Kiko. I’ll go check on her if you can start making lunch for the three of us.”

Kirishima, still sprawled out on the bed, was unable to respond as he was still processing the last few minutes. Eventually, after a few seconds, Kirishima had recovered and propped his head up on his arm as he responded. “Alright. Sound like a plan. Make sure you don’t go easy on her you big softy. It won’t do any good for her or you, since I’ll know.”

Bakugou sneered at him as he headed towards the door. “Like I would. I don’t need you nagging me about it. That’s another one of the other things you’re really good at.”

Kirishima, mildly annoyed at this statement, couldn’t say anything as he watched Bakugou walk out of the bedroom. After a few seconds Kirishima, falling back against the bed, let out a long breath as he thought how much he was in love with not only Bakugou, but daughter, his friends and just his life in general. Even after all these years.
