“Daddy, Daddy, look Papa is on the TV. Quick, come and see.” Kirishima heard from the living room.
Kirishima smiled. “Alright. Give me one second and I’ll be there.”
Kirishima chuckled at his daughters unbridled enthusiasm and quickly finished putting up her clothes. As he stood up Kirishima looked around Kiko’s room and sighed contentedly. Kirishima loved his life. He was married to the most handsome and wonderful man he had ever known and had the most beautiful daughter in the entire world.
Kirishima, lost in his thoughts, was quickly pulled out of them after he heard yelling come from the living room again. “DAD-DY! What is taking so long? You’re going to miss Papa.”
“I hear you. I’m coming right away.” Kirishima yelled back at her.
Kirishima headed out of the bedroom, looked back one more time, smiled, turned off the light and headed to the living room. Even before he reached the living room though Kirishima heard the loud and distinctive sounds that were indicative of his husband’s fighting style. Hearing this he smiled seeing exactly how Bakugou was fighting based on those sounds alone.
As Kirishima entered into the living room he saw Kiko, standing in front of the couch, acting out what she was seeing on he TV. She was taller and stronger than one would expect at her age, that being 10, but that’s what happens when you live with and have regular practice with Bakugou Katsuki. Her blond hair, with streaks of red throughout, moved with her as she not only punched and moved along with Bakugou on screen, but also, to Kirishima’s slight dismay, yelled along with him too. She was so focused on following the screen that she hadn't seen Kirishima enter yet. Seeing the opportunity Kirishima snuck up behind her and lifted her high into the air. This sudden shift was met with high excited laughter that only increased as Kirishima spun Kiko around in the air.
After Kirishima finished the spin he brought Kiko into a tight hug. “How are you doing sweetie?”
Kiko frowned at him. “I was doing just fine until you came and interrupted my practice!”
“Well then, I guess if you were practicing I’ll let you go and get back to it. But first, you have to give me a kiss.”
Kiko let out her breath in a huff, but quickly obeyed, and gave Kirishima a quick kiss on the cheek. Kirishima chuckled, but let her down as promised. She smiled back at Kirishima as she ran back to her previous position as she continued her previous task, following along with Bakugou’s movements on TV. Sitting down on the couch, Kirishima watched as Kiko moved and was impressed by how well she followed along. Kiko’s movements were quite in sync with Bakugou’s, albeit slightly slower and clumsier. Kirishima wasn't that surprised though, after all she and Bakugou practiced together a lot since her quirk, the ability to shoot projectiles out of her palms, had a similar fighting style to Bakugou’s.
After watching her for a while Kirishima shifted his gaze to the TV to see what Bakugou was involved in. From what Kirishima could tell, it looked like Bakugou was fighting a villain who had some kind of earth controlling quirk. Kirishima wasn't exactly sure who the villain was exactly, probably just a small time villain who was just a little too ambitious. Watching a bit more of the action, Kirishima could tell that the villain was certainly an amateur because they were not doing well against Bakugou’s assault against them.
Kirishima noticed that at this point in the fight the villain looked like they were focused on running away from Bakugou and his merciless barrage of explosions. Unfortunately for the villain though, they weren't doing that well at all. Bakugou quickly began to catch up to them, while constantly at them for their cowardice.
Luckily, Bakugou wasn't cursing (Kirishima had told him he needed to tone it down whenever Kiko could hear him) but Kirishima could tell he was barely able to hold back. Kirishima knew that his resolve was being tested even more than usual due to the weakness of the villain. Weakness, above anything else, angered Bakugou the most, especially when it came from his opponents. Kirishima knew that as this fight went on Bakugou would only get more and more angry. Fortunately, within the next few minutes, Bakugou had finally caught up to and apprehended the villain.
At this point, with the villain captured, Kirishima called Kiko to come over and sit with him while they waited for Bakugou to finish dealing with the specifics of the villains capture. After giving the villain over to the authorities Bakugou was quickly confronted by the cameraman and the accompanying reporter who had followed Bakugou throughout the entire fight.
“Hello Ground Zero” the reported started “That was a great fight. You were certainly able to apprehend that villain quickly and with ease. That’s no surprise considering you're the number two hero.”
Kirishima saw Bakugou grit his teeth at that last statement. While Bakugou’s hatred for Deku had died years ago, he still had a distinct dislike and rivalry with the current number one hero. “Hehe. Yeah. Of course it was easy. That villain was a pushover.” Bakugou responded in his usual aggressive and gruff tone.
“Of course. Now that I've managed to catch you Ground Zero, I have a couple more questions for you.” Bakugou grimaced but the reporter either didn't see it or ignored it as they continued “So, Ground Zero, I know you’ve said in the past you want to be the number one hero, but with Deku’s immense popularity among the public, not to mention how he’s the successor to All Might himself, do you still think you can surpass him?”
Kirishima tensed in response after the reporter finished the question. It’s not that Kirishima was worried about Bakugou exploding at the reporter, he was just doing it out of reflex.
Bakugou cleared his throat before he began. “Of course. I still believe that I can. Deku might have a big name now, but just you wait. I’ll surpass him someday.”
Kirishima let out a breath he was holding. He was glad all his and Bakugou’s work together over the years was paying off and Bakugou was able to have a conversation about Deku without exploding in pure fury.
“Perfect.” The reporter, looking a little relieved themselves, continued. “I can’t wait to see that. Now onto question two. There are rumors floating around that you’re quite the family man. Are those true?”
With that question Bakugou seemed to almost melt in front of the camera. His usual serious and harsh demeanor gave way to a uncharacteristic softness and a slight blush began to spread across his face. Bakugou rubbed the back of his neck with his hand before answering, an unusual softness that replaced his earlier gruff tone.
“Uh, yeah. Those rumors are true. It’s going really great for me and my family. Kiri- I mean Red Riot is the best partner I could ever have imagined, both on and off the field, and I’m thankful for him everyday. My daughter, Kiko, is the most beautiful girl in the world and her presence is a blessing in my life.” Bakugou then turns to wave directly into the camera. “Hi baby. I’ll be home soon. See you then.”
Kiko waves back with at him. “Ok Papa. See you soon.”
Bakugou turns back to the camera to. “So um, yeah. My family is doing well.”
The reporter, momentarily stunned by this sudden shift in mood, quickly recovers. “Perfect. I know we are all glad to hear that. That’s all my questions for today so thank you Ground Zero for answering them and I’ll let you go on and head back to that cute family of yours.”
Bakugou, back to his usual serious composure, responds. “No problem. I’m always hear to help.”
The TV then cuts to commercial and Kirishima, smiling, asks. “So, Kiko, want to get dinner ready so that it’s all prepared for when Papa comes home?”
Kiko, leaping out of Kirishima’s lap, yells out. “Yeah! I want to help. What are we going to have?”
“I don't know. What do you want?” Kirishima questions her as he gets up and walks over to the kitchen.
“Hum…Oh, I know. How about we have some spaghetti. Papa would love that.”
Kirishima chuckles. “Ok then. What do we need to do first?”
