Chapter 1: 雑作 trouble

Chapter Text

Tick tock.

You smiled softly in your dream, the sound of clock ticking lulling you into an even deeper slumber.

These moments of you taking a nap started to become a rare thing ever since you got a job at the Software industry. The man who was currently owning the industry wanted to pass his position to you once he hits the age of retirement. Which meant that you had more work on your shoulders so you could prove to him that you were worthy of it.

Tick tock.

You rubbed your eyes, slowly opening them. You raised your head up, and it ached for some unknown reason. You removed some of the saliva with your sleeve that was coming from the corner of your mouth. Looking in front of you, you hissed and squinted your eyes from the piercing bright light.

I have a feeling this isn’t my room.

When your sight got used to the light, you recognized your surroundings. And it sure wasn’t your room. You were still in your office, sitting at your desk. You groaned, and slightly hit the desk with your forehead.

I fell asleep… again.

Turning your head to the side, you looked at the clock to see what time it was. Your eyes widen and heat shot up once you read the time.

2:45 am.

You got up from your seat and started packing your things.

Why didn’t anybody wake me up?

This wasn’t your first time falling asleep while working, but your colleagues never tried waking you up from your sleep because they knew how much you needed it.

Thou you weren’t quite happy about that since most of the time you would wake up in your office feeling more tired than you felt before.

But at least they cared.

You turned your computer off and walked out of your office, anticipating the moment where the moment when you were going to finally lay in your bed.

You had an unusual quirk that and your quirk was actually the reason why you were working at Software industry. You had an unusual high IQ, and you were able to solve any mathematical problem with ease.

The problem is, you can’t handle life situations. Like dealing with your personal problems, like emotions for example or giving good advices to people. And because of that you never wanted to work in a Hero industry, you just weren’t suited for it, even though you dreamed of it so much when you were younger.

But you were happy with your life the way it was.
You brought your hands together and started to blow hot air in order to make yourself warmer. You were so. Lost in your thoughts that you hadn’t even noticed a man dressed all in black following behind you. When you got into an alleyway he took the opportunity to sneak behind you and hit your head against the wall.

And that’s just what he did.

You didn’t even had time to react when you felt someone’s tight grip on your hands and the next thing you knew the mysterious person banged your head against the nearest wall. You started to feel dizzy and that’s when everything went black.

Light.

Everything in front of your eyes was light. You heard a voice near you, it was probably calling after you is what you thought. Your eyes soon fluttered open, and you found yourself in an unknown room.

“Miss,” Your gaze turned to your right, your head was still glued to the pillow that was more than comfy if you were asked. It felt like your head was on a puffy, comfortable cloud.

The sweet voice of the little white-haired girl asked you. She had a worried expression on her face and you just wanted to grab her cheeks and pull onto them. You tried getting up, but the pain that shot through your head warned you that it was better to still lay still. “Are you okay?” She was about to place her hand on yours in comfort, but reluctantly pulled back, thinking that it wasn’t going to be such a good idea.

“It’s okay, don’t worry,” You reassured her, not wanting her to worry about you so much. “Where am I anyways?”

“Chi-san found you unconscious on the streets. You hurt your head pretty good, he said that he thinks you were robbed.” She climbed the bed, sitting next to you. “Gramps said that you could stay here, until you get better.”

“Oh, it’s okay, you don’t have to worry that much about me, I don’t want to be a burden to all of you.” You were about to remember something, but you felt like your mind was blank with information. Your brows knitted in confusion. “That’s weird…” You mumbled under your breath and the little girl didn’t seem to hear what you said at all. “You wouldn’t be a burden at all! I’m Eri, by the way, what’s your name?” She smiled at you, but when it took you some time to answer back, she started to get worried, especially since you had a dreaded expression on your face. “Do you… don’t want to tell me?”

You started to shake, grabbing the end of the blanket you were covered with and pulling your knees closer to your head.

“I can’t remember.”
