Park Jimin never asked for much in his life. Not even when his parents blatantly asked him what he wanted for Christmas and all he told them was "Just get me a new book to read."
Not even when all his friends and everyone around him were wearing the trendy stuff and doing trendy things but he couldn't, he was alright, even though he had to punch a guy for getting on his nerves for always calling him an old man.
He was alright with what he had but right now, Jimin wanted nothing more than what was currently before him.
Jung Hoseok, the God of a man who was sweating and popping on the dance floor, with someone who he couldn't care less for. Jimin so wanted to be in his spot right now, dancing along with Hoseok but he couldn't. He doesn't think he's skilled enough. He has always wanted to.
"You're a sad case." Jungkook, his long time friend, came and dropped next to him. The once small kookie is now taller than him and he's 2 years younger which was very irritating.
"I will punch you."
"A very aggressive sad case." He thinks majority of this friendship was just him wanting to punch the little shit.
"You know, I know something that you don't." Was Jungkook's cheeky and smug as hell remark.
"What is it?"
"Give me ten dollars first."
"Go to hell."
"Fine then, I won't tell you."
"But I don't even have any money on me."
"Well too bad." See, once again he felt the urge to punch him.
His eyes once again glazed over as he watched Hoseok gliding across the floor. That was so smooth and cool.
"You are no longer a sad case, you're a lost cause."
He grabbed at him but Jungkook jumped out the way having already anticipated it. He ran off laughing to himself as his hyung yelled at him.
Jimin sat there after Jungkook ran away doing what he was originally doing. He was patiently waiting for his turn to use the dance room. He was 30 minutes early and it was not to watch Hoseok dance, no, he just likes being early even though he was late almost everyday for school...
At first, Jimin had cancelled out the opportunity of ever dancing with Hoseok because of their different styles of dancing. Hoseok was a Hip Hop and he was contemporary dancer. He had lost all hope until he started practicing dancing with kookie and now, he had a little more hope that one day he could eventually dance with Hoseok.
Fingers snapping in front of his face jerked him back to reality. "Hyung, it's our turn. Come back to Earth will you."
"Yeah, I'm here brat. Let's go." When he looked around, the practice room was empty. He felt a bit disheartened that Hoseok just left without saying anything but he quickly cheered up when he saw how excited Jungkook was to dance with him.
He could feel his excitement bubbling in the pit of his stomach too since he was doing something he was passionate about.
"Ready hyung?"
"Yup."
Jungkook started the music and almost immediately Jimin closed his eyes and felt the beat vibrating through my body, forgetting everything else.
Someway along dancing, Jungkook miscounted his steps and bumped into Jimin hard sending him to the floor.
"Shit!"
"Sorry hyung!"
Jimin released a breathy chuckle and grabbed Jungkook's outstretched hand to pull him up.
"You alright hyung?"
"Yeah, I'm good. let's start again. Remember, it's one, two, slide, three four five and six. Land with your feet apart."
They started again but Jungkook kept making the same mistake and Jimin kept falling. He could feel his hands and knees starting to burn from the continuous falls.
"Let me strangle you." He spat through gritted teeth.
"Ok hyung, wait, how about instead of doing the too quick for me steps, why don't you do your spin and I can do like a half spin into the where we both do the hand lifting slow motion thingy before we do the steps at five and six together..."
"You do know, the dance moves we do have names right?"
"Hyung, my memory consist of purely games, food and that little tiny space for studying. There is no space for dance names."
"Why are we even friends?"
"I ask myself that every day."
"Come here you little-"
The pair began a chase around the dance room until a voice filled with amusement stopped them.
"That might actually work though. Can I see it?"
Jimin spun around so fast that he slipped and fell on his ass. Jungkook being the awesome friend he was, bent down and laughed right in his face before he helped him up.
Hoseok was the one that spoke and to say that Jimin was shocked was an understatement. Didn't he leave?
"Hey Hoseok hyung!" Jungkook suddenly exclaimed.
"Hey kookie!"
"I was wondering if you were gonna enter."
What?
Wait what?!
"Huh?" His mouth was open as he stared at kookie who had a cheeky grin on his face.
"Oh yeah. Hoseok hyung was at the door. He's always at the door actually, this is he first time he's entered."
"I. Will. Kill. You." He mouthed at Jungkook who in turn took a step away from him.
"Hi Jiminie!"
Jiminie. He called him, Jiminie. His cheeks flared red. "Uh, hi."
"So, can I uh..."
"Oh yeah! Let's do it Jiminie-hyung!" Jimin's blush disappeared as quick as it came and he punched Jungkook in the shoulder. "Ouch!"
"Stop shouting, it wasn't that hard."
They got in their positions and soon as the music started, the were moving. Jimin could feel the sweat running down his back and his face, his hair flying as he moved with the grace that he knew he possessed.
When they got to the part where Jungkook was always messing up, they did the changes that Jungkook suggested and Jimin felt the sweat fly off his body during the spin but also, where he unintentionallychose to focus on was Hoseok.
They did it successfully, no bumping or colliding and completed the dance ending back to back, their heads touching slightly. They remained where they were, panting harshly, as the music faded out.
"Jiminie! Jungkookie! That was amazing!" A body jumped between theirs, slinging a hand over their shoulders.
"Uh, thank you, hyung" Jimin could feel his chest fill with warmth at the praise of the older male.
"Yeah, thanks hyung!" Jungkook looked at the time on his watch and turned to Jimin. "I think we're done for the day hyung."
"I guess it's time for us to go home then."
The pair grabbed their stuff, preparing to leave to head home.
"Uh, Jiminie..."
Half way to the door, Hoseok stopped him and Jimin spun around. He was so close to escaping so he could go scream by himself in his empty apartment.
"Yes, hyung?" He saw Hoseok stutter for a bit before he shook his head gently.
"Uh, never mind. Another time okay?"
"Alright..."
He looked at the red-face older male in confusion but also in curiosity. What has him so flustered?
For the rest f the days they had left until the competition, Hoseok stayed around to watch Jimin and Jungkook practice and they grew closer to the point where Jimin no longer felt like hiding inside a hole every time Hoseok smiled at him.
Jungkook teased him of course and he in turn threatened to destroy his gaming sets to which he responded saying that he would disown Jimin as a friend. Ha! Lies.
On the day of the competition, Jungkook woke Jimin early and they both got ready at his house before heading to the studio to wait go with the bus.
Jimin always had Jungkook next to him for the ride but this time, he smirked at him before going to a seat three seats behind him. The seat however, was immediately taken by Hoseok who dropped in the seat with a grateful smile directed at Jungkook.
"Hey hyung, I see you'll be taking Jungkook's spot today?"
"Yup."
No other words were exchanged but they did share earphones while one read and the other sung.
They all stretched and groaned as they exited the bus and went to enter the hall with their passes to go to the practice room until they called for them. The competition hadn't started yet.
"Wait, Jiminie before you leave I have to ask you something." Jimin froze in his spot as he felt the spot where Hoseok grabbed him tingled.
"Well then! it's about time! I'm going ahead hyungs!" He was gonna choke him to death one day, Jimin swore as he gave Hoseok a once over and noticed that he was looking a bit nervous.
"You okay, hyung?"
"Yeah, I'm okay."
"What did you want to ask me?"
"Oh, well, you see, I've been watching you for a long time..."
That sounded so creepy in his ears that Jimin's lips twitched and he fought the laugh that bubbled up in his throat.
Hosoek saw and released a small chuckle. "I just realized how creepy that sounded."
"It's alright, I know what you meant."
"Well, I really love the way you dance. It's really graceful and smooth but it's also very powerful and I can tell how passionate you are by how you dance and it's just...beautiful."
Jimin couldn't believe his ears. He couldn't manage to say anything as he stood there with his mouth agape and his heart beating a mile a minute in his chest. "How's that possible?"
"How's what possible." Jimin would've cooed mentally at how cute Hoseok looked confused but he was too shocked.
"That's the same thought I have when I think of you." It didn't mean to come out, not really but it was too late to take it back.
Hoseok's face turned red as he shook he head quickly. "Thank you but no way do I have your amount of grace. I'm everything but graceful. But what I really wanted to ask you was, will you dance with me?"
Jimin has waited so long to hear those words and he really wanted to but, "I really want to hyung! But, I can't. I'm already dancing with Jungkookie and you already have a partner..."
"Oh, right. You already registered with Jungkookie for the competition?"
"Yeah..."
"Then, what about afterwards?" This day just keeps getting even more shocking and Jimin's not sure his heart could take it.
"You want to me to be your dance partner?"
"If you want-"
"Yes! I mean, ok." Jimin coughed to cover up his obvious embarrassment at his sudden exclamation.
The smile that lit us Hoseok's face could rival any bright light and it sent Jimin into a daze. "Yay! I'm glad you said yes Jiminie!"
The announcer's voice suddenly came through the speakers, announcing the start of the competition. They couldn't speak for much longer.
"Uh, see you afterwards?"
"Of course. I'm excited and looking forward to working with you Jiminie." And before he knew what was happening, Hoseok pulled him forward by his wrist and pressed his lips to his cheek.
Multiple things took place afterwards. The blood rushed to Jimin's cheeks so fast he felt dizzy for a second, Hoseok took off quicker than you could say bye and Jimin could've written about how his heart started going a mile a minute.
He had no time to dwell on the feeling since Jungkook came to fetch him because their time was coming up.
He did find out that Jungkook had known what Hoseok wanted to ask and instead of being without a partner, he decided to take Hoseoks, so they just sort of switched and even though neither of the teams won the competition, neither Jimin nor Hoseok cared and the smiles stayed on their faces as they couldn't wait to begin dancing together. Who knows, maybe they'll be even more than dancing partners in the future.
