Seeing you prance and bounce around your living room with the dog that you’d rescued from the shelter was one of the first times I’d actually thought it, I love you, and felt it at the same time. That deep, almost uncomfortable tug in the pit of my stomach, with my heart catching in my throat.
I wanted to say it over and over then, to shower you in kisses. But I didn’t, I watched you smile at the dog like it held the sun in the sky for you, and the dog smiled back.
