3) Rosy cheeks and cold hands

It snowed that day in Morioh.

It was something new nonetheless; When was the last time it snowed in the small town? It's been years since they had such a cold winter, it was expected that it would snow any time now. And it was just that day.

Rohan asked himself why - for the umpteenth time that hour - why he chose to leave his house. Of course, he knew why: He couldn't say no to Reimi when she gave him that look of hers, but ignoring the truth is much simpler. Plus, his pride vame first.

He lost sensation in his hands long ago.  He bit his cheeks, regretting leaving his gloves at home. In fact, he barely had time to grab much since Reimi nagged at him to go out.  He sighed and stuck his hands in his jacket pockets, observing the pink haired girl from afar.  She wore a scarf he'd given her last Christmas and though its colors didn't match any other item of clothing she wore, she had chosen to wear it. He smiled.

"Rohan, come here!" Reimi called from afar while she finished shaping her snowman.  It was small, she'd decorated it with pebbles and twigs. Rohan gave some thought before yielding and walking over. Reimi stared, expecting a compliment for her work.

Rohan sighed, "Yeah, it's fine. Can we go home now?  I can't feel my hands."

Reimi pursed her lips with annoyance.  Can't we have fun every now and then?  She looked away from him and crouched to perfect the shape near the bottom of the snowman.  Rohan sighed again with boredom. He knew she was ignoring him again, as she did when she got annoyed. He squatted beside her.

"Reimi, look at me." She ignored him and buried her face into the scarf. "Reimi."

"What do y-" As soon as she turned and tugged her scarf down to see him better, Rohan kissed her without giving it any second thought. She didn't react at first out of surprise but returned the kiss before long.

When they parted, Rohan stroked her rosy cheek with his cold hands, which Reimi enjoyed, closing her eyes. Only rarely did he show affection towards her in this way.

"Your cheeks are red." he commented, and she smiled.

"And your hands are cold."

Rohan scoffed as if Reimi had said the most obvious thing in the world and gave the snowman one last look before giggling. Frankly, it came out so bad that it's hard to believe it wasn't made by a five year old.  As they laughed, Rohan took Reimi's hand. She turned to look at him, arching a brow; he covered his mouth and looked away as if the ground was the most interesting thing to happen all day.

Reimi grinned and a snowflake fell onto her nose, and then another, and another.

Rohan looked up, for it had started to snow. "Do you want to go home before it gets bad?" Reimi nodded and started walking with him.

His hand wasn't as cold as before.
