I'll be there

Summary:

Namjin Week 2017 Day 5: Hidden love - Seokjin and Namjoon meet secretly during their trip to Hawaii to discuss their relationship, marriage and the future.

Notes:

Hello and welcome to my contribution to #NamjinWeek17 in the form of seven short stories! One option was chosen per day, and the fics range from fluff to smut to humor to a little angst, so check the tags for content warnings! Have fun reading :)

Inspired by that moment in Bon Voyage 2 Behind Cam EP7 when they were having dinner at the luau and Namjoon stood up when they called for couples celebrating their anniversaries and Seokjin stood up too and Namjoon wasn’t having it haha. Not necessary to have watched the series to understand this fic, but it might help to know what happened in general for context. (Also let’s pretend Jin got his sugar gliders before their trip.)

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Namjoon opened his eyes as soon as he felt the phone start to vibrate under his pillow, because he didn’t want to risk waking Yoongi up, who was sleeping next to him on the bed they shared in their third and last accomodation in Hawaii. He tried to make the least amount of noise possible as he turned the alarm off and sat on the bed to put his slippers on, glaring at the time displayed on the screen.

Seokjin’s text, sent to him during breakfast the day before, read Meet me by the pool tomorrow at 6 am :*. When he had looked at him across the table with a questioning frown, Seokjin had just commented out loud, “You know what would be nice to watch too? The sunrise. I have watched enough beautiful sunsets in this trip to last a lifetime,” and the conversation between the seven members had continued as usual.

So here he was, awake at 5:50 in the morning so he would have enough time to brush his teeth and wash his face before heading outside. Why? Because he was a man of few weaknesses and the most important one of them was Seokjin.

He patted the collar of his t-shirt as he left the bathroom to confirm he had taken the lapel mic off before going to sleep, and he tried not to look at the camera surveying the living room as he walked to the sliding glass door leading to the pool deck. A few steps in he finally found him, sitting on the floor with his back against the house wall in a spot most likely chosen to hide himself from the camera angle.

“Hey, handsome,” Seokjin said, lifting his gaze from the water reflecting the barely there light of the sun beginning to rise to look at him with a sweet smile, and Namjoon thought losing three hours of sleep was totally worth it if it meant he got to spend them with Seokjin instead.

“Hey, gorgeous,” he replied with a fond grin as he sat on the floor next to him, as best as he could so not even his feet were captured by the camera filming the pool. “You have found quite the hiding spot.”

Seokjin chuckled. “I am having the time of my life, I swear, but they weren’t exaggerating when they said recording would take place 24/7,” he said as he scooched to rest his head on Namjoon’s shoulder. “I miss you.”

“I miss you too,” Namjoon took Seokjin’s hand and started playing with his fingers as he looked past the white wall of the property and into the sky, where beautiful hues of blue and yellow were painting a picture-worthy scenery. “Hawaii is amazing and the trip has been great, but I’m glad the filming crew will leave us when we land in Korea tomorrow. It is hard to hold back for a week non-stop.”

“I know,” Seokjin agreed. “Be prepared to be jumped on and kissed senseless as soon as we get some private time to ourselves.”

Namjoon laughed as he squeezed Seokjin’s hand. “You could kiss me right now,” he suggested.

Seokjin shook his head. “We haven’t done anything in a week, I don’t think I would have enough self-control to stop at a kiss.”

“Mmm, naughty,” Namjoon teased, and Seokjin smacked his knee playfully as he chuckled. “But you are right, we shouldn’t risk it.”

“I’m always right,” Seokjin said as he snuggled closer. “You know, after you blew me off at dinner last night when they called for couples celebrating their wedding anniversary…”

“I wanted it to be my joke!” Namjoon interrupted to justify himself. “I wasn’t expecting you to stand up as well.”

“I know. I’m not mad. I briefly reconsidered our entire relationship but I’m not mad.”

“Hyung.”

“Anyways. The point is, I would like us to be one of those couples at the show in the future. When we get legally married, we should come back to Hawaii for our honeymoon.”

Namjoon’s dimples showed as he smiled. “When and not if we get legally married? You have a lot of faith in our government and the Korean public. Also, are you planning to propose in the future?”

Seokjin bumped his shoulder. “I am an optimist. And yes, unless you propose first. But I am not going to wait forever.”

“It is a plan, then,” Namjoon giggled. He looked at both of their hands, fingers intertwined between their thighs. “We have been together for almost three years now, can you believe it?” he said with an affectionate smile.

“Yeah,” Seokjin replied dreamily. “Can you believe we have managed to keep it a secret from everybody all this time?”

“I can’t,” he chuckled. “I know we decided to have this one thing for us and us only, but I hope we can tell the guys sometime down the road.”

“I hope so too,” Seokjin said, nuzzling Namjoon’s neck. “Although I’m sure Yoongi has already figured it out.”

“He probably has; he knows everything.” Namjoon paused. “He should be our best man.”

Seokjin smiled. “Hoseok and the kids would be the groomsmen,” he added. “Odengie and Eomukie could be the ring bearers.”

“That would be freaking awesome,” Namjoon chuckled. “You would be the most beautiful groom ever.”

“I would,” Seokjin replied, making Namjoon laugh. The younger looked so happy and cute he couldn’t help himself. “Ok, I can’t take it anymore. You can have a peck on the lips. No funny business.”

“No funny business,” Namjoon repeated as he leaned in, but Seokjin didn’t protest when what was supposed to be a quick peck on the lips turned into a full-blown kiss laced with love and care and hope for the future.

Notes:

I was planning on making this a bit more sad given the nature of their conversation but I just couldn’t. Soft soft soft all the way.
