Work Text:
Yoongi had been working on a new song, locked up in their studio. He wasn't sure about what the others were doing, but they were all probably working on something too. He heard a knock at the door, but he was so focused that he didn't even turn to check who it was. Not even when the door got slowly opened and more light came into the dark room. Yoongi loved working in the dark. Too much light gave him headaches.
“Hyung?” someone called from the door.
Yoongi sighed. He didn't like to be interrupted while he was working. He finally turned his head, smiling when he saw Hoseok standing there, his hand still on the handle of the open door. “Yes?”
“Um...” Hoseok looked down shyly, scratching the back of his head.
“You needed something?” he asked, suddenly worried Hoseok wasn't feeling alright.
“No, just...” Hosoek hesitated again, looking back up at him and meeting his eyes. “Do you mind if I watch you work?”
“That sounds kinda creepy.” snorted Yoongi, turning to the computer again, his back at Hoseok.
“Um.”
He glanced back, rolling his eyes as he saw Hoseok standing there defeated. “Of course I don't mind, Seok-ah.” he said, his voice soft.
“Oh.”
“You should go get another chair, though...” he added. Namjoon had moved the second chair that was usually in the studio to god knows where for god knows why. Or maybe he had just broken it and hidden the proof.
“Oh, it's fine. I'll just sit on the floor.” replied Hoseok, finally closing the door and stepping up to where Yoongi was. He crouched down next to his chair, looking up at him.
Yoongi didn't comment on the fact that the position wasn't the most comfortable. Especially after the hours of dance practice Hosoek had just gone through. He could see how tired Hoseok was. Probably as tired as him. As tired as all of them.
“You okay?” he asked, almost whispered in the silence of the room. Hoseok wasn't usually quiet. He tended to be very loud. Especially around the youngest members. But when it was just the two of them, somehow, he always toned it down a little. Yoongi didn't know if it was because he was scared of annoying him or if there was another particular reason. But deep down, he liked how Hoseok acted a little bit different around him. As if they had a special relationship. Did they have a special relationship?
Hoseok only hummed in reply, nodding his head a little. “Just like watching you work.” he added after a few seconds. “Always learn a lot of things.”
It was Yoongi's turn to hum. He glanced at Hoseok one last time before going back to work. He unplugged the headphones, so that Hoseok could listen to the melody he was working on as well.
Except for the clicking, typing and music, everything else was very quiet. So quiet, Yoongi almost forgot someone else was in the room with him. Until he felt something touch his thigh.
He looked down only to see Hoseok was now sitting cross-legged, his head resting against Yoongi's thigh as he slept. He had probably overworked himself so much that he couldn't even get up to go to bed.
Yoongi sighed, a little bit frustrated. What was he supposed to do with Hoseok? Hardworking Hoseok that always helped him out with their hard dance moves. Caring Hoseok that always brought him water bottles. Kind Hoseok that hugged him anytime he felt even the tiniest bit down. Beautiful Hoseok, with beautiful eyes, beautiful hair, beautiful lips...
He sighed again.
Hoseok had worked hard and needed some actual rest. In a bed. That's why he tried to wake him up. It definitely wasn't because he was suddenly starting to feel too hot.
He gently shook Hoseok's shoulder, calling his name, but didn't get any replies. Luckily, Hoseok wasn't that heavier than him, so he tried to pull him up, hoping to get him on his feet. But Hoseok wasn't exactly cooperating. As Yoongi had his hands under his arms and tried to lift him up, Hoseok flopped against him, making him sit back on his chair and landing on top of him. Yoongi blinked in confusion, not sure what had just happened. To make the situation even worse, Hoseok mumbled in his sleep, literally climbing into Yoongi's lap and nestling his head in the crook of his neck.
“So soft.” he whispered, still asleep as he rubbed his nose against the skin of Yoongi's neck.
What. The. Fuck.
Yoongi couldn't move. And it wasn't because someone was sitting on top of him. Hoseok was sleeping in his lap. And he looked so peaceful and so beautiful, Yoongi couldn't stop himself from brushing the hair that had fallen into his closed eyes. Hoseok responded to the touch by sighing contently, his hand coming up to fist Yoongi's t-shirt. So Yoongi kept petting his hair, stroking his messy locks. Hoseok had confessed to them, one night, that that's how his mom would lull him to sleep when he was little.
He had never been this close to anyone. Not even his own brother. Hoseok was just different. He always seemed to be able to read right through him, no need for spoken words. He could calm him down whenever he was panicking or stressing over something. But at the same time, he could drive him insane because of just how amazing he was.
Maybe they did have a special relationship, after all.
“Stop banging on the door...” mumbled Hoseok.
Yoongi stopped caressing Hoseok's hair and looked down at him very confused because no one was banging on the door.
The younger boy started to stir a little, his nose scrunching up adorably. “Ugh.”
It was only then that Yoongi realised the banging Hoseok was referring to was his own heart that wouldn't stop beating like crazy. He felt as if his whole face and neck had just caught fire, suddenly feeling too hot again because Hoseok was blinking his eyes open, groaning his annoyance at the “banging”.
“Stop bang–” he froze, his eyes getting comically wide as they met Yoongi's. “What?” he squealed, falling backwards as he tried to put some distance between them.
“Shit! You okay??” worried immediately Yoongi, helping Hoseok up and checking on him.
“Why was I sleeping, um, there??” questioned Hoseok, his face red with a blush.
Yoongi was probably equally red, panic taking over him as he tried to explain. “Well, you fell asleep on the floor and I didn't want you to get cramps because of it and your back was probably gonna hurt tomorrow morning, just like your neck, and I tried to get you up and get you to go to bed but I'm too weak, I guess, 'cause you fell on top of me and then I fell back on the chair and I didn't really know what to do and... yeah, um...” He skipped the part of him petting Hoseok's hair and thinking he looked at peace and beautiful. He looked back up at him, finding Hoseok staring, his mouth shaped into a small “o”. “Sorry.”
“Oh, no, I'm sorry.” replied Hoseok, shaking his head. “For, you know... falling asleep on you...”
“I didn't mind...” Yoongi wanted to slap himself. Why did he had to say that?
“What?” asked confused Hoseok.
“I didn't mind... you know... it's not a big deal...” He shrugged his shoulders, hoping Hoseok wouldn't read right through him like always.
“Me sleeping in your lap??” laughed Hoseok. His blush was getting even worse and Yoongi wasn't sure if it was because he was grossed out by him or just ashamed of falling asleep in such a place.
“Well... I mean...it's not a big deal. You were just tired.” Yoongi shrugged again, attempting a small smile.
Hoseok nodded, adverting his eyes.
They remained quiet for a while, probably both trying to calm down.
But then their eyes met again, Hosoek holding his gaze as a soft yet serious expression appeared on his face. “I think...maybe cuddles would be better?” he whispered.
Yoongi opened his mouth, his eyes getting wide. What?
“Forget I said that.” scoffed Hoseok, looking away and rubbing at his left cheek that still had a red spot from being in contact with Yoongi's shoulder for too long.
“No, no!” he replied immediately, his heart aching at the sight of Hoseok's distress. “I think you might be right...” he added, smiling. He felt his face go hot again and he scratched his right ear because, damn, it felt on fire.
Hoseok glanced at him, a shy smile tugging at his lips as his cheeks turned pinker. He passed a hand through his hair, probably noticing how it was combed differently than how he had left it earlier, but not commenting on it. “Maybe we could try? Sometimes? If you feel like it?” he said instead, still smiling at Yoongi.
“Yeah. Yeah I think we should.”
