He could recognize that voice anywhere. Even if it was dressed in a standard cafe uniform, waiting behind the counter and staring right at him. He sees the word “trainee” first and “Otoya” second, and somewhere in between his second and third mini crisis, he notices the chipped green nails and silver rings adorning his fingers.
Otoya raises a pierced brow at his internal meltdown.
“Uh, dude? I know you’re stunned by my devilishly good looks and untouchable aura, but you’re holding up the line.”
Or, the ASMR YouTuber Karasu’s crushing on turns out to be the hot new barista at his favourite cafe.

“Nice to meet you, Karasu.” He drawls, completely devoid of any emotions. “Welcome to my beach.”
A snort. “Ya know, ya could at least try ta act excited.”
“Not unless you give me a reason to.” Otoya’s lips curl, lashes fluttering as he peers up at him through half-lidded eyes. Karasu’s throat goes dry all of a sudden, but before he can get another word in the lifeguard is already off, leaving him behind to stand there in stunned silence.
(And no, Karasu does not stare dumbly at Otoya’s ass while he walks away.)
Karasu goes to the beach expecting to rein in his rowdy group of friends and instead comes across something (or someone) far hotter than the August heat.

“Tabi, meet mini-Tabito.” Eita says, gesturing to the boy. “He’s you, and you’re him, and I’m just gonna call him Karasu for the sake of everyone’s sanity.”
Life is hard enough when you’re fifteen. Karasu just didn’t think it could get any worse until he winds up in the future one day and runs into some guy claiming to be his… best friend? roommate? Who even was he?

When Edgar turns seven years old, he finds writing on the inside of his left wrist.
Well, it looks like writing, at least. It’s orderly, the small lines delicate and precise, making a neat column down the length of his inner arm. It isn’t ink, because it doesn’t smudge when Edgar runs his finger along the strokes. Not like it does when he draws on the palm of his hand during his class. The lines are in a warm brown, the same color as the freckles that dot his arms.

Ranpo is eight when he gets his soulmark, in a grayish-purple kanji along his wrist. It isn’t a big deal, not to him. Of course, his parents are ecstatic. They’re soulmates, so he guesses it makes sense that they’re happy for him. Even if he didn’t really want one in the first place.
