Work Text:

“Is Taehyung here?” Jeongguk asks once he steps foot into Jimin's apartment, taking off his shoes and putting it neatly on the entryway before walking towards the living room where Jimin is lounging on the couch, his television flickering and playing the rerun episode of How I Met Your Mother.

“Nope,” he answers easily, shifting himself on the couch to make himself more comfortable. “Why would he be here.”

Jeongguk squints his eyes at Jimin, eyebrow raised, the epitome expression of someone who doesn't believe anything that's spewing out of Jimin's mouth. For all he knows, Jimin could have made a pact with Taehyung to catch him off guard, planning to put Jeongguk in a trap before he proceeds with his attack. It's possible, considering Jimin and Taehyung are soulmates, partner in crimes and all those ride and die kind of shit.

“Why are you staring at me like that?” Jimin speaks as he sits up, back resting on the couch, his feet stretched out and placed on the coffee table upfront.

“Oh I don't know,” Jeongguk shrugs, taking a seat next to Jimin, giving him a side glance, not hiding the fact that he knows Jimin has something up his sleeves. His gut is telling him that Taehyung is here, in Jimin's apartment and it's telling him to run, but alas, Jeongguk remains rooted in place. Maybe he likes danger a bit too much. Where's the fun without it anyway?

Jimin groans, “He's not here, for god's sake. You would see his shoes when you enter if he's here.”

“Oh I don't know,” he repeats. “Maybe he's hiding somewhere, still wearing his shoes.”

“Then if you know,” Jimin is looking at him with that look he always associated with nothing but trouble. Jeongguk stands up immediately, in a protective stance, his hands upfront in a Taekwondo pose. “What the fuck are you doing here then?”

“I need to give him forehead kisses!” Jeongguk says, still in that ridiculous pose. “Our score is almost at a tie and I don't want to lose this. Jeon Jeongguk will never lose.”

Jimin snorts, rolling his eyes. “You guys are dumb. Who the fuck even play this kind of game.”

“Pfftch,” Jeongguk relaxes his posture, arms crossed over his chest. “Us, of course,” he says it loud and proud. “We are like your couple goals.”

Jimin laughs, clutching his stomach in disbelief. “If you want couple goals it's Chrissy Teigen and John Legend.”

“Come again?” Jeongguk says, his face scrunched, his hand cupping his ear as if he hadn't listened to Jimin's atrocious comment. Him and Taehyung are couple goals, end of discussion. Jimin is just jealous, butthurt or somewhere along that line.

“Whatever,” Jimin stands up, walking towards the open concept kitchen and Jeongguk follows him from behind. “What are you guys expecting to come out of this little game you guys are playing anyway? I don't see any agenda here.”

“We're just giving out the love,” Jeongguk opens his arms out as if that would explain much. Jimin is giving him a funny look and he flips him a finger – just because.

“Giving out the love my ass. All I have seen come out of this is you both trying to run away from each other in order to avoid the forehead kisses.”

“You're just jealous,” Jeongguk states. He doesn't miss the way Jimin's eyes flicker over his shoulder but he's quick to divert his gaze elsewhere, moving to open the refrigerator. Jeongguk doesn't have the time to register what is happening before a pair of arms are wrapped around his waist from behind, turning him around. The next thing he knows, he's come face to face with Taehyung. There's a cheeky grin on his lips and Jeongguk is just too caught off guard at the moment that he doesn't have the chance to cover his forehead when Taehyung lands not one, but two kisses on his forehead.

“What the actual-” Jeongguk covers his forehead quickly, stopping Taehyung from giving him that third kiss. “This is cheating!”

“Hah! I did it fair and square.” Taehyung says with glee filling his voice. “Don't even try to fight me on this. That's a solid two kisses! I hit it on the mark!” he fist pumps his hand, an act of victory and Jeongguk huffs. Taehyung is leading with a point and he's not letting him get away with this.

“Baby, babe,” Jeongguk says with a voice that he knows Taehyung won't be able to resist. “Come here, please,” he smiles, stalking towards Taehyung as his boyfriend walks backward, trying to avoid him. But Jeongguk isn't having any of this as he strides forward and Taehyung runs towards the living room, fast on his feet.

“Jeongguk, stop!” Taehyung screams, opening the door to Jimin's bedroom but Jeongguk is faster, catching him around his waist as Jeongguk picks him up off the ground, Taehyung squealing up on the air as Jeongguk circles him around before putting him on the floor, immediately placing three kisses on his forehead without a break.

“I'm on the lead! Hah! Take that babe!”

“You did not just-” Taehyung says, covering his forehead while smacking Jeongguk's chest with one hand.

“Just admit your defeat babe, I am going to win this.” Jeongguk says smugly.

“No fucking way. We still have two days. The game is still on.”

Jeongguk quirks his eyebrow, challenging, “I'm going to win it though.” Taehyung rolls his eyes at his utterance of confidence. “But, sure, you're on,” he winks.

The door to Jimin's bedroom slams open, revealing the owner of said room with a frown on his forehead. If Jeongguk could, he would like to kiss that frown away just to spite him off further. “I can't believe I am witnessing two grown adults running around my apartment like a bunch of ten-year-olds. Out. You two, out of my apartment!”

Jeongguk doesn't know how it started. Wait – actually, Jeongguk knows exactly how it started.

It starts with a book.

Yes, a book that Taehyung was reading as they sit in the corners of an empty cafe. It was empty because the coffee was shit, but hey at least there's barely any people, providing him the peace and quiet he desperately needed to finish his work report. Taehyung was quietly reading a novel across from him. It was quiet, yes, the perfect depiction of peace, he could hear the sound of birds chirping although it's like seven in the fucking evening and the birds were probably flying into the night sky or whatever. The dream was broken though when Taehyung squeals. Feet coming up on the chair he was sitting, knees tucked in close against his chest.

“What is happening?” Jeongguk looks up from his laptop, giving Taehyung a quizzical look.

Taehyung continues to squeal, the book close to his chest. “The protagonists just had their first kiss in the book.”

“Um, okay?”

“No, Jeongguk! You don't get it. It is literally the cutest shit ever. It was not just a kiss, it was a fucking forehead kiss and the guy just went all it's the best fucking kiss he ever had after he gave her that kiss. This is the cutest shit ever Jeonggukkie I'm having heart palpitations.”

Jeongguk chuckles, moving his laptop from his lap to the table. “Well, yeah, that's cute I guess. But I think our first kiss is so much cuter.” The memory of their first kiss plays in his mind like a film. It was awkward at best, their noses getting in the way as Jeongguk tries to deepen the kiss but it was perfect. Jeongguk wouldn't change anything about it. He smiles fondly at the thought.

“You sap,” Taehyung puts his foot back on the ground, continuing to read the novel before he stops again for a second, looking up at Jeongguk with his eyes glinting with mischief. Jeongguk knows he's up to something. “Wanna play a game?”

“What game?” Jeongguk raises his eyebrow questioningly.

“Ok listen,” Taehyung puts a bookmark on the page he's currently reading before closing the book. “Let's have a forehead kiss competition. Whoever gives the most forehead kisses to the other, wins.”

Jeongguk snorts, “As if you can ever resist any kisses I give you.”

“As if you can resist any of my kisses too.” Well, true. “So, what do you say?”

“What's the purpose of this game actually?”

“Do we even need to have a purpose? It's cute as fuck and it's going to be fun don't you think. It's a good combination.”

Jeongguk thinks this is actually a very stupid idea, but he is never one to ever say no to Taehyung. “If you say so. Game on?”

Taehyung claps his hands, looking delighted. “You are going to lose big time. We'll have a week, whoever by the end of the week gives the other more forehead kisses, wins.”

Jeongguk chuckles, shaking his head in disbelief.

Jeongguk gets one point at the end of the night when he walks Taehyung towards his apartment. Before his boyfriend walks inside, he manages to land one smooth peck on his forehead that feels long lasting. It took Taehyung a second too late to realize what Jeongguk is doing before he pries Jeongguk off, pushing him away with a scandalized look. “No way!” He points a finger accusingly at Jeongguk.

“One point for me,” he smiles with all of his teeth. He walks away quickly before Taehyung has the chance to give his revenge.

“It's game on Jeon!” He hears Taehyung says before he steps into the elevator.

“Hey baby,” Taehyung says the minute Jeongguk answers the call.

“Hello to you too.” Jeongguk shifts on the floor, pausing the game he's playing.

“I miss you,” Jeongguk doesn't have to see to know that there's a pout on Taehyung's lips. It's apparent in the way he says it and he too can hear the agenda behind this call. “I'm coming over.”

“Just so you can give me more forehead kisses am I right?” They are at a tie after Taehyung managed to steal a kiss on his forehead when he came to his workplace during lunchtime with a coffee in hand. He should know better that there must be something that Taehyung wanted if he makes it his way to come to his workplace with a cup of delicious coffee. Jeongguk in short was appalled the moment he takes the cup from Taehyung's hand and his boyfriend quickly leans in and delivered a quick peck on his forehead. Jeongguk doesn't even have the time to steal a kiss as Taehyung walks away with a bounce in his step without even saying goodbye. The audacity.

“Nooooo,” Taehyung whines. “I really miss you okay, I'm not bluffing.”

“And why should I trust that the moment you step into my apartment you won't suffocate me with forehead kisses. I'm not taking the chance here babe. There's only one day left and we're at a tie.”

“Oh damn, didn't know you are actually taking this so seriously.”

“Says the one who comes up with the idea.” Jeongguk scoffs. “You should know I am competitive by nature already.”

“Jeongguuuuuk, come on, I'm coming over and you're not going to lock me out. I promise I won't kiss your forehead, just your cheeks, your nose and your lips. I promise. I'll make the swear in front of Yeontan if you want me too.”

Jeongguk hums, thinking it seriously but mainly he just wants to annoy the living daylights out of Taehyung. It's not believable that Taehyung is missing him considering they just met yesterday but in all honesty, Jeongguk likes the attention way too much. Especially when it comes from Taehyung.

“Okay, fine,” he answers finally, giving in. He is actually, kind of, missing Taehyung too, TBFH. “But, no forehead kisses. We are going to duel it out tomorrow. We are going to do it fair and square.”

“Duel? Do you think we are playing Tekken or something?”

“That, or no coming over.”

“Fine,” Taehyung huffs. “Tomorrow. We'll see who wins this.”

Jeongguk hangs up the call with an amused laughter. He continues playing his game while waiting for Taehyung to arrive. He's on the second round of his game when Taehyung comes knocking on his door. He hits the pause button, getting up from the floor and the moment he opens the door, Taehyung quickly walks in, leaning in closer but Jeongguk already has his hand covering up his forehead. He's taking precautions and all that stuff.

“Are you seriously kidding me?” Taehyung says, his eyebrows knitted. “I just want to give you a kiss, trust me why don't you.” He rolls his eyes, clearly unamused.

Jeongguk clicks his tongue, pulling his hand away from his forehead. “I'm just taking safety measures, you can't blame me for all the shits you have put up these past few days.”

“Hey, I gotta live. Now, will you actually let me kiss you anywhere but the forehead?”

Jeongguk taps his chin as if he's got to think hard to give an answer. Jeongguk initiates the move first though, leaning in and kisses Taehyung on the lips. His boyfriend hums at the contact. “Happy?” Jeongguk asks as he pulls away.

“Very,” he smiles, pleased. “Now let's cuddle on the couch and watch a movie or something. We can order takeouts if you want.”

“No cheating okay?”

“What do you take me for?” Taehyung huffs, displeased. “Yes, no cheating, we're just going to spend the day. No funny business,” he repeats.

It's not long after they make themselves comfortable on the couch. The fit is tight but they managed to work around it with Jeongguk's legs draped around Taehyung's waist, his arms engulfing his boyfriend in a tight hug. They are watching a movie but the both of them knows that they aren't even paying attention to any of it.

“We need to move to the bed soon,” Jeongguk says behind a yawn. He doesn't know what time it is, but he knows that it's very well into the night. The minute Taehyung arrives at his apartment he knows it was around 8 pm or much later. “I don't want to wake up tomorrow with an aching back,” he nuzzles his nose at the back of Taehyung's neck.

“Gotta be at your best for the duel tomorrow?” Taehyung says with a teasing tone.

“Yeah, that, and I have work early in the morning.”

“Awwh that sucks,” Taehyung untangles himself from Jeongguk's tight hold, standing up from the couch and holding his hand out for Jeongguk to take. “Okay, let's go to bed.”

Taehyung leads him into his bedroom and the moment he lies down on his mattress, he can already feel sleep coming to him easily. He forgets how tired he is. Taehyung lies down beside him and Jeongguk immediately wraps his boyfriend in a stifling hug, making him the small spoon.

“You are so clingy,” Taehyung complains but Jeongguk knows he likes it.

Jeongguk chuckles, another yawn, “You don't hate it.”

“True,” Taehyung moves to face him, poking his finger to ease the frown on the scrunch of his nose. “Sleep.”

Sleep comes easy that night with Taehyung in his arms.

The moment Jeongguk stirs awake from his slumber to the feel of something wet on his forehead, he knows fucking well that he's one step closer to losing this game. In any other situation where it is not ass o'clock in the morning he would have jumped from his bed and demand Taehyung for a duel but let's be honest here, Jeongguk is not a morning person and as much as he needs to be awake and get ready for work, he at least knows he still have like another fifteen minutes before he has to get ready. His body clock doesn't lie, unlike a certain boyfriend of his.

He can feel another kiss is placed on his forehead, wet and messy and long-lasting. Jeongguk couldn't be bothered, he's too sleepy and his bed is too comfy and warm and he'll admit that it feels nice having Taehyung lathering smooches on his forehead.

“Oh, what is this?” Taehyung says with another peck, and another, Jeongguk just grumbles then buries his face in his pillow. “Are you admitting defeat already?” Taehyung kisses the crown of his head, an attempt to wake Jeongguk up.

“It's still early, this would not count,” Jeongguk grumbles, arguing.

“It counts alright,” Jeongguk feels Taehyung running his fingers along his hair and it's so soothing he can feel himself drifting back to sleep but a hard smack of lips against his cheek jolted him awake big time.

“Taeeee,” he whines as he sits up reluctantly. “I need to sleep,” he knuckles the sleep away from his eyes and it's in no time that Taehyung comes closer towards him, circling his arm around Jeongguk's neck and leaning in to give one, two, three, four kisses on his forehead. “You said you aren't going to cheat!”

“I said that yesterday but today is a whole new day,” another kiss and another, Jeongguk just heaves out a sigh.

“So you want to play dirty huh?” Jeongguk asks, feeling a little bit awake.

“I'm not playing dirty, this is just how life is, you just gotta own it,” there's a playful smirk on Taehyung's lips before he leans in closer and kissing Jeongguk's forehead again. Jeongguk just let's him.

“How many kisses did you give me?”

“Hmm?” Taehyung mumbles, his lips close to Jeongguk's forehead, his breath tickling his skin. “I don't know, I wasn't counting. But I know I am winning.”

Jeongguk snorts, wrapping his arms around Taehyung's waist and pulling him on the mattress, shifting their position as he looks down at Taehyung with a glint in his eyes. “Is that so?”

Taehyung covers his forehead protectively, shaking his head profusely. “Nope, I refuse to let you win this!” There's a bubble of laughter coming out of his throat as he says this and Jeongguk's heart sings at the sound.

“Really?” Jeongguk leans in closer until their lips are a mere breath away, their breaths mingling. “I guess, I'll just have to kiss you on the lips then.”

“Hah, that doesn't count-” Whatever Taehyung's about to say is cut off as Jeongguk seals their lips together and Taehyung immediately melts into the kiss. It was soft and slow, like they have all the time in the world, feels like they have forever in their hands or something along that line. Their lips move against each other, like the perfect puzzle pieces and Jeongguk is almost lost in the kiss but he remembers his agenda belatedly.

He pulls away reluctantly, but Taehyung's hands move to grab his shoulder, trying to pull him back into the kiss but Jeongguk has a better idea. Instead of leaning down to his lips, he moves up and kisses his forehead in quick succession, not giving Taehyung the chance to escape his grip.

“Jeongguk!!!!!!” Taehyung shouts, shaking his head, making it rather difficult for Jeongguk to place his kisses on his forehead. One kiss landed on the scrunch of his nose, the other one landed on his temple and the other landed on his eyelids but Jeongguk is confident enough that he had placed enough kisses on his forehead to bag him that win. “Okay stop! My face feels icky with your saliva already!”

“Are you admitting defeat?” Jeongguk doesn't stop placing kisses on his forehead and Taehyung has diverted from whining to giggling, clearly amused by the number of pecks Jeongguk is giving him.

“Of course not!” Taehyung says, looking him straight in the eye. “If you think I'm going to give up that easily, you are wrong mister. We still have until the end of the day.”

Jeongguk chuckles, smiling down at Taehyung before he pulls himself up. They are one competitive couple and Jeongguk should know better that this won't end without a fight.

“Game on?”

“You are so on!”
