"Jungkook-ah! Do I look okay?" Jungkook promptly placed his camera down to look at the man in front of him. Seokjin was wearing a black suit that complemented his fair complexion. His dark brown hair was styled in a way that revealed his forehead and Jungkook had to admit he looked breathtaking.
"You look great, hyung," Jungkook replied as he adjusted his camera's focus. "It must be nerve wrecking, huh?" He asked, noticing the way Seokjin's fingers trembled as he snapped the last few buttons of his coat into place.
Seokjin automatically smiled when Jungkook pointed the camera at him. "Of course, I'm nervous," He said, fixing the stray strands of his hair. "I'm getting married, Kook."
Jungkook quickly covered his mouth when he felt a cough coming out, "It's going to be fine. If anyone should be nervous-" Jungkook adjusted his angle, taking a few steps back to capture the whole view. "-it's Namjoon-hyung."
Seokjin smiled at him, at the camera, a little too fondly. He was, for the lack of a better term, blooming. Jungkook felt a familiar sensation in his chest. "Joon's a wonderful person."
"I know. If I got a dollar everytime you said that, I'd be a billionaire by now," Jungkook said, rolling his eyes to further tease Seokjin.
Namjoon's a perfect man in every aspect. Jungkook was a bit skeptical at first, seeing the guy looked a bit strange during their first meeting. His hair was sticking up at every direction, making him look like a younger, asian Einstein. He was unique in a sense, eccentric even. Jungkook have always had doubts. After all, he only wanted the best for Seokjin. It took a while but as time went by, Jungkook witnessed how much Namjoon deserved Seokjin's love.
"You'll be like this too when you fall in love." Seokjin huffed but posed for the camera nonetheless.
Jungkook checked his last few shots, scanning the photograph before zooming in at Seokjin's smiling face. "I doubt that."
The wedding itself went smoothly. Two hours passed by quickly as Jungkook busied himself taking photographs. There were a lot of guests, most of which he had already met. They would immediately pose for the camera whenever they would see him, making Jungkook's work a lot more easier.
Just before the ceremony was about to end, Jungkook had some difficulties. One was the excessive coughing during the exchange of vows.
"The weather got me," He said, waving a small packet of cough medicine when a worried Jimin followed him to the restroom.
He might have caused a scene, seeing how he suddenly handed his camera to Yoongi before making a beeline to the exit.
"What happened to you earlier? Are you alright?" Seokjin asked later that night during the reception. He was sitting beside Namjoon, their linked hands stirred a scratchy feeling inside Jungkook's throat.
"I'm okay, hyung. Cough and colds are pretty common lately." Jungkook said, sniffling exaggeratedly for a good measure. Seokjin seemed convinced although his eyebrows were still visibly furrowed. "Come on, hyung. Don't worry too much." Jungkook pointed the camera at them, making the couple somehow ease a little. "Two! Three!"
Jungkook downed his sixth shot of alcohol before deciding he had enough for tonight. He wasn't drunk, may be a little tipsy to the point his throat was numb but still sober enough to think straight. Jungkook had another coughing fit, leaving him with a fresh handful of pink petals stained with blood. There was roughly thirty pieces in his palm. Jungkook sighed, this was the fourth time today. He already lost count after the the second batch but he was pretty sure he coughed out at least a hundred petals within the past few hours.
Jungkook can't remember when it started. He vaguely recalls feeling an incredible itchiness in his chest whenever he was around Seokjin. It was very uncomfortable that it made Jungkook take multiple showers everyday, thinking it would somehow subside.
"Jin-hyung! I think I might be allergic to you!" Jungkook complained one time when Seokjin was visiting him at his dorm.
"You can say I'm your aller-jin. Get it? Allergen?" the elder said, filling the room with his high pitched laughter.
The itch gradually turned into persistent coughs. It would last days, sometimes even weeks that Jungkook almost thought he had pneumonia until Taehyung told him.
Jungkook was filming Seokjin's practice for his theatre role when Taehyung asked the question. "You're in love with Jin-hyung, aren't you?"
Jungkook blinked at him in surprise, "What do you mean?" Jungkook laughed but Taehyung's expression remained indifferent.
Taehyung looked at him solemnly before pointing at his phone. "People tend to photograph what they love the most; the things that they're scared to lose."
"Nah." Jungkook denied but somehow, the gadget now felt a little too heavy in his hand. "Jin-hyung's just a really great model," He mumbled, returning his focus on the practice.
Later that night, the realization slowly sunk in as Jungkook saw the two hundred fifty eight pictures and clips of Seokjin in his gallery.
The very first petal appeared after Namjoon and Seokjin's first date. It was sudden and remarkably painful, making it hard for Jungkook to forget the memory.
Seokjin was in the middle of telling him how his day went when Jungkook suddenly let out a forceful cough.
"Are you okay?" The elder immediately stood up to get him some water. "What on earth have you been doing?"
"Nothing, hyung. I think I got it from Hobi-hyung during practice. He was sick the other day." Jungkook said, hiding the pink petal in his pocket.
Jungkook coughed out another batch, this time with more blood in it. His throat was burning and he can feel himself wheezing. Jungkook quickly discarded the petals before wiping himself clean. He had enough for tonight. Jungkook dragged himself to where Seokjin was. He needs to go home before it gets worse.
The venue was already empty save for the few relatives who were still drinking their hearts out. Jungkook soon found Seokjin at the center table, leaning against Namjoon's shoulder with his eyes closed.
"Jungkook." Namjoon waved at him carefully to avoid waking Seokjin.
"Hyung. I'll be going now." Jungkook tapped his shoulder briefly, his throat constricting at the contact. "Congratulations on your marriage," He said, trying to sound upbeat but even his own voice sounded hoarse to him.
Namjoon nodded, looking a visibly concerned. "Thank you, Jungkook."
For one last time, Jungkook stared at the scene in front of him. Seokjin was sleeping soundly on Namjoon's shoulder and the sight made his lungs burn. "Please take care of Jin-hyung." Jungkook left before Namjoon can ask any more questions.
Jungkook soon reached his car but not before throwing up at the parking lot. The dark ground was now stained with blood and a disturbing amount of peony petals. He knew he had to make a choice soon.
Jungkook was still heaving when he entered his vehicle. His throat was on fire and he can already feel the tears at the side of his face as he dialed Taehyung's number.
"What's wrong, Kookie?" Taehyung's voice echoed in the car through his phone's speaker.
"Hyung." Jungkook took a deep breath, trying to stop himself from sobbing as he watched over a thousand of photos get deleted on his phone's screen. "I think I'm ready for the surgery tomorrow."
