He hated it.
Jungkook hated it.
He knew that it was a party. He heard his parents talking about it in hushed voices when they thought he was asleep. Something about inviting their friends in celebration of this thing Jungkook can't remember. But couldn't people keep it down at least? Like please be a little quiet? He was lying on his back and he kept wriggling his chubby hands on the air, wishing he knew how to walk. So that he could walk away right this instant.
“Kookie?” He heard his father’s voice calling for him and he looked up to see a pair of eyes staring down at him, “Uncle Hoseok is here to see you.”
If Jungkook could roll his eyes, he would. Yes, he liked his Uncle Hoseok— he bought him an iron man stuffed toy a few weeks ago so he's on the favorite list—but he was not in the mood for this. However, he had to do his part and make his papa Yoongi happy so he wiggled his whole body, showing that he was delighted.
“Aww, he's so cute. Are you happy to see me, Kookie?” Hoseok cooed at the baby, “How’s the party, little boy? Enjoying it?”
Yeah, right. As if laying on his crib while loud music was blaring in the living room was called ‘enjoying.’ Especially when his Papa Yoongi’s and Daddy Jimin’s friends come and pinch his cheeks, and give him those stupid peek-a-boo’s as if he enjoyed them was anything but pleasant.
Of course, again, he can't show that he's not quite happy so he just continued squirming his little body and pretend that he's delighted to be here, when in fact he wanted to be in his Daddy Jimin’s arms while watching Iron Man in the living room.
He watched as his Uncle Hoseok cooed at him again before the man started talking with his father. They were engrossed in their conversation so Jungkook decided to drop the happy act and placed his arms on his stomach.
How much he wanted to grow up and become an adult. Jungkook kept chewing on the pacifier he had in his mouth as he eavesdropped on his father and his uncle’s conversation. Most of the time, he heard his Daddy Jimin and uncle Taehyung’s name and a few other words he didn't understand.
What is a bikness? Or what was that again? Bitness? Brisness? Business? Whatever it is, can he eat it?
“So as I was saying, Taehyung’s cousin, Namjoon— you know him, right?” He heard his uncle ask. His father nodded before he looked down at him and flashed him his gummy smile that the baby loved so much. Jungkook chewed on his pacifier as he reached a tiny hand— asking to be carried off of the crib because he was starting to get bored. His father didn't seem to understand as he only patted Jungkook’s tummy.
He wanted to pout but he couldn't due to the pacifier in his mouth. He used his other hand to grab onto his father’s index finger. Wow, his father’s hands are so big. Jungkook wondered if his hands would be as big as his father’s when he grows up.
“Well, Namjoon is out of town and he left his son, Seokjin, in Taehyung’s care.” Hoseok continued in his story as he, too, smiled fondly down at Jungkook, “Little Jinnie’s with Taehyung right now.”
Cheokjin? Jinnie? Those names are new.
Jungkook chewed on his pacifier again as curiosity got to him. He almost whined when his father’s index finger escaped his strong grip. Well, strong for him.
“Namjoon’s son? Well, that sounds great.” Yoongi smiled, “Kookie is probably bored.”
Yes, finally. Someone understands. I love you, papa. You're the best.
“So how about bringing Jin here?” Yoongi suggested, “He could be Kookie’s playmate. I'm sure Kookie doesn't mind sharing his crib, right, baby?”
Wait. What?
Jungkook immediately stopped chewing his pacifier as his eyes widened. Share his crib? No. No way. This is his sanctuary! His one and only precious place. It belongs to him! No way was he sharing it with another kid.
“Really? Jungkook looks like he doesn't want to.” Hoseok commented as he glanced nervously at the child lying in the crib. He didn't know if he was imagining it but Jungkook looked like he was going to kill someone.
“What are you talking about? He's a baby, it's not like he understands us completely.” Yoongi shrugged, “I think he'd be glad to meet Namjoon’s Jin.”
Papa? No, don’t do this papa! I trust in you!
“Alright.” Hoseok said, and he shuffled, “I’ll go get Taehyung. He's probably in the living room.”
Please don't come back!
A few minutes later, his uncle Taehyung is peeking on him and cooed, “Awwe, Kookie is so cute. But Jinnie is still asleep though.”
That's good. He should just sleep in your arms. I don't need a playm—
“It's okay, just place him in the crib.” Yoongi offered.
What? Papa, no! Don't do this to me!
Jungkook’s eyes widened when a bundle was carefully placed beside him. That's it. Someone has invaded his privacy. Hhis sanctuary. His crib!
How could you do this to me, papa? I trusted you!
He wanted to hiss at the three heads peeking in his crib. Why can't people understand that he actually wanted to be left alone? He doesn't want anyone in his crib and he hates this. His papa Yoongi just betrayed him! Where's daddy Jimin? He was the only hope.
Jungkook glared at both Hoseok and Taehyung. The first flinched while Taehyung didn't notice at all as he just admired at how cute the two infants were. Hoseok leaned forward, more than ready to pick Seokjin up and save the little boy’s life.
However, the body next to Jungkook suddenly moved and the crib’s owner turned his head to the side and froze. Four breaths hitched when the slowly waking infant squirmed and a pair of brown eyes opened. His doe eyes were large and adorable as they darted left to right, scanning the new environment and the different faces with curiosity. Then he suddenly smiled a smile that could make flowers bloom in Spring, put the Summer sun to shame, make hearts fall faster than the Autumn leaves, and make the snow melt away in Winter.
Jungkook was frozen. So were the three adults.
Then, the child, Jin, wiggled his body to face the owner of the crib. His brown eyes met with dark ones. He stretched his tubby hands to touch Jungkook’s soft face as he giggled adorably and said, “hewwoo~”
And that's when Kim Seokjin nailed it.
Later that night, by the end of that party, Hoseok was freaking out while Taehyung just laughed beside him. Apparently, baby Min Jungkook no longer wanted to let baby Kim Seokjin go home again. The infant kept hissing at anyone who attempted to take Seokjin away or even made a move near them. Jungkook’s small soft arms were wrapped protectively around the other. And to make things worse, Jin wrapped his arms around Jungkook as well and fell asleep comfortably in that position, his head leaning against the other’s.
Hoseok gave up at that. Taehyung laughed about it and said to give them some time. The duo decided to extend their stay for a cup of coffee and a little conversation. When they were finished, they peeked at the crib to find the two adorable children already asleep. Jimin and Taehyung fished their phones out of their pocket and started snapping pictures.
With Jungkook finally asleep, they were able to carefully peel Seokjin off his arms and take him home. The very next morning, when little Kookie discovered that Jin was no longer in his arms. He threw a tantrum that turned the household of Min upside-down.
