Chapter Text
Resting upon a hilltop and gazing up at the clouds, your heart was racing at the thought of being with Erina. If it weren’t for your infatuation with her, you would be quite calm and comfortable given the environment you two were in. Every now and then you would sneak a glance over at her, listening to her compare the clouds to various animals she had seen in some books she looked at. You leaned back, closing your eyes and relishing in the sweet tune of your angel’s voice.
You had gifted her a bouquet of handpicked flowers earlier, but she ended up returning one of the flowers to you, “for safe keeping”, as she put it. You laughed and teased her, inquiring her of the flowers’ fates now that they rested in her hands. Erina simply told you to watch her, and watch her you did. Her slender hands worked the stems into each other, tying them up into a flower necklace. She made two of them – so you could match, of course – and here you are now, cloud gazing together.
“Are you listening?” Her playful tone made your eyes snap open, fully attentive. She smiled fondly at you before shaking her head and pointing to a fluffy-looking cloud far off in the distance. “I wanted to know what you thought that one looked like.”
You stared at its puffed up shape before soundly stating, “It looks like a rabbit. Yeah, like you!”
It took a few seconds for you to register your words and soon after, your embarrassment followed.
Erina’s brows furrowed in confusion until you spoke up again, “B-Because rabbits are cute! You’re…cute.”
You could feel your cheeks grow hotter as you worded each syllable. At first, she scolded you for reasons that weren’t apparent to you, but eventually settled down and went back to looking at the sky with you. You looked forward again, placing your hands behind you to keep your balance. Soon enough, warm fingers rested upon the top of your hand, all in a comfortable silence.
