Nobody but You

Summary:

“I fucking love you, and I don’t know when it fucking happened or how it did, but It feels like I always have. When I think about the future- five years from now- ten years- fifty. You’re there. With me. Kicking ass and making casseroles and chasing around dumb kids that don’t know how to control their quirks but its fine because they’ll be our dumb kids.”

Notes:

"I would totally die if you wrote a fic where kiribaku get married as soon as they can legally. like its in the middle of their third year but they know that there is no else. And Baku totally purposes, maybe they elope idk."

I fell in love with this prompt that someone gave (SouthernSmartAss) and I had to write it myself.

If you want to read the Fic they wrote of it ( which i advise because its hella good) - its right over here ---> http://archiveofourown.org/works/13579578

but uh- the prompt gave me a lot of feelings.

Work Text:

Katsuki knows their relationship isn’t exactly- normal. Not that it’s really that far out there- just that it most certainly didn’t follow anyone else’s expectations- or timelines.

For example- they’re not exactly sure when they got together. Which to a lot of people seems to be the most ridiculous thing they’ve ever heard.

They know it sounds kind of weird- but its not like its really anyone else’s business- so they don’t let it bother them too much. The thing is- they just kind of- fell together.

they were always friends- from the attack on the USJ forward. Katsuki couldn’t deny the respect he felt for the other kid. If anyone had the right idea about what being a hero should be it was Eijiro. He couldn’t help but be impressed- more than impressed actually- he was kind of in awe.

It wasn’t exactly easy for Katsuki to make friends- he was rough around the edges. He was rude, and crude and he didn’t quite know how do handle his emotions. But Kirishima hadn’t seemed to mind. It was refreshing.

The two became inseparable- he grew to love the moments Kirishima was by his side and dread the times he wasn’t.

They were dormed together- which is probably another reason it was so difficult to pin down a time. It blurred all the lines that were supposed to exist between people. Not that Kirishima had really been good with the lines to begin with.

He was- touchy.

And Katsuki found he didn’t mind all that much. It was kind of comforting- he didn’t know how much he needed just a brush of fingers on his shoulder, or a hug that knocked the wind out of him- until he had them and at that point he didn’t want them to go anywhere.

It was easy for them to fall into- something.

Casual touches, comfort after hard fights, rough hands rubbing at the muscles of his shoulders. He would make breakfast in the commons early in the morning and bring it back to their dorm- rousing Eijiro with the alluring scent of bacon- before shoving him out of bed and dragging him for a pre-dawn run.

Maybe they should have questioned it- but they were just- them.

They didn’t really talk about it- but they did talk about everything else in the world.

Kirishima told him about his other friends- the jokes they told- his family- his life. And Katsuki listened- he found he wanted to know more about every word that fell from the boy’s lips.

Katsuki in turn talked very little- but more than he ever did with anyone before. Talk that is- without raised tones and fuck used as an exclamation. He told Eijiro things he had never even dared speak aloud- but he knew they were safe here.

At some point two beds became one- shoved harshly into the middle of the room one freezing night when the heaters failed- only to never be pulled back apart. It didn’t make sense to anyway- it was more comfortable that way.

Their relationship hadn’t really been the most physical thing- they were young and had a million years to figure it all out. But Eijiro pressed his lips to Katsuki’s forehead in one of his hugs and Katsuki let it happen because it didn’t make any sense not to.

Their legs tangled together while they slept- Bakugou’s head nestled safely between Eijiro’s collarbone and his chin, lips faintly pressed against his neck.

Hands found each other while walking the hall- Smile breaking out on Kirishima’s face made Katsuki more than okay with the public affection.

It wasn’t until people started asking that they really put a label on the whole thing- though it seemed more for other people’s benefit than their own.

They knew what they were to one another. Calling Kirishima his boyfriend wasn’t going to change that.

He would admit it did feel nice though.

Second year his life came crashing down around him- Eijiro was rushed unconscious to the hospital- bleeding internally- body hardened in defense without his permission. Causing surgery to not even be an option.

Bakugou screamed at every nurse that wouldn’t allow him past.

They repeated the same bullshit about “only family.”

Angry tears poured down his face- hot and wet- and he swore to himself this would never happen again.

He survived- of course because Katsuki had never known a stronger person in all his life- and as soon as the nurse told him they would be accepting visitors he barreled his way down the hall without even asking what room he was in.

He would find it.

He did.

His heart broke into a thousand pieces at the sight- at Eijiro laying there; pale and tired. Lacking all the bright energy and sunshine that normally poured out of every inch of him. Hair lying limp and flat against his face the way it only did seconds after a shower before he had a chance to gel it back into place.

He looked wrong.

So wrong.

The words slipped out of his mouth before he wanted them to. He had a plan after all- a huge elaborate and romantic thing that was entirely out of his comfort zone, but he knew Eijiro would die for.

“marry me?”

Eijiro stared at him like he had grown another head- which he supposed was fair given that they were literally 16 and he had just almost died and Katsuki hadn’t even taken a second to say hi- but it didn’t change anything.

“what?”

“Marry me.” He said again, this time it wasn’t a question.

Theoretically there should be a million doubts running through his head.

Were they too young?

Would they be putting themselves in more danger?

What would his mother say?

But honestly- he had never been more sure of anything in his entire life.

“listen up- I’m only going to say this once.” He said, crossing the room in a few quick strides to scoop Eijiro’s hand up into his own.

Eijiro stared up at him- eyes wide and smile wider and he found that the words would not stop coming and he didn’t try to make them.

“I have never been as scared as I was today- I almost murdered a nurse for trying to keep me away from you and I never ever want that to happen again. I never want you to go through that either- so next time either one of us gets the shit beaten out of us by some dumb- ass who wants to take over the world I want to be able to tell them that you’re my husband and I will be damned if they’re going to keep me from you.”

His heart was pounding like he just ran a marathon and there were tears spiking at the corners of his eyes. And he wanted nothing more than for Eijiro to just fucking say yes- the few seconds before he replied felt like an eternity of silence and he thought he might drown in it.

“you’re an idiot.” Kirishima replied-

Katsuki scowled- insult poised on the tip of his tongue but Eijiro beat him to it.

“But I love you- and I would love to be your husband.”

Oh.

It was Katsuki’s turn to light up the room with his smile, and he did. He fucking did.

A nurse came by minutes later to scold him for climbing into Eijiro’s bed- dragging him from It and insisting he sleep on the much less comfortable and much less Eijiro filled arm chair to the right.

But she didn’t kick him out which he was thankful for.

He shoved the arm chair as close to the bed as he could and held onto Kirishima’s hand like if he let go everything that just happened might just disappear.

They didn’t get married right away. After all what kind of person in their right mind would marry two stupid sixteen-year old’s.

But that didn’t stop him from slipping a simple golden ring onto Eijiro’s finger one night while they ate dinner. Which caused him to be tackled soundly onto the floor- food left cold on the table while his fiancée pressed his lips harshly to his.

Something burned bright inside him- happiness- contentment- love? He didn’t quite have the right word for it, but he loved the way it smoldered against the inside of his chest- pressing hard against his ribcage and knocking all the air out of his lungs in a way only being wrapped up in Eijiro could do to him.

They got married on Eijiro’s 18th birthday- earlier in the morning than Ei even wanted to be awake but they watched the sunrise over the ocean- light bouncing off the bands that adorned their fingers and he finally admitted to Katsuki that maybe he was right about it being the most magical before the city was awake.

Katsuki still found it funny each time a new one of their classmates figured it out- after all they still had a month left before graduation.

They all seemed to have the same questions-

“What”

“Why “

“How long? “

Though he will admit that Iida’s bug-eyed revelation was his favorite.

“I DIDN’T EVEN KNOW YOU WERE TOGETHER; WHY DOES NOBODY TELL ME ANYTHING!” he had yelled- stalking off to find round face and admonish her for not keeping him up to date. Turning around only to congratulate them before rushing towards the girl’s dorms.

Telling everyone else was usually just as entertaining- their parents already knew- and were various levels of supportive.

But strangers; and most recently news outlets trying to gather more information on the fact that apparently two of Japans top five heroes were not only married but in the process of adopting their first child was front page news.

The answers he gave them only served to confuse the reporters more, because he didn’t know when exactly they got together- and he had no idea how many years it had been since he first started to consider Eijiro his.

But they were fucking perfect together- and that was all Katsuki needed to know.

And anyone who didn’t agree.

Could go fuck themselves.
