Work Text:

“Daddy! I’m home!”

Trucy entered the apartment, slipping her baggy blue backpack off of her shoulder. She didn’t wear her usual magicians outfit, rather a more modest blue sweater and jeans. She looked over at her dad, Phoenix Wright, watching TV and downing a bottle of grape juice.

“Hey Truce. How was school?” Phoenix asked, not looking up the TV.

“It was good! I’m just happy to be done with the week.” Trucy replied. She glanced over at Phoenix’s desk, noticing a bouquet of roses resting comfortably on the edge.

“Guess Mr. Edgeworth was able to get a Valentines gift to you, huh?” she remarked.

“He said he was working today so he can't go on a date,” Phoenix explained, “I appreciate his gesture. It’s cliché, but for Edgeworth that’s an improvement.”

Trucy giggled. She can’t blame Edgeworth for trying to do something nice for his boyfriend. It is the day of love after all! In fact, Trucy has some plans of her own…

“Daddy, can I go to Kurain Village today?” she asked.

“Oh, are you going to perform your “Valentines Trick” on Pearls?” Phoenix asked.

“... Lucky guess.” Trucy pouted. She can’t hide anything from him. He’s too perceptive. Phoenix chuckled.

“Well, I’d rather have you like her than some boy I can’t trust. Good luck!” Trucy couldn’t help but smile. She was worried about how he would react when she came out to him, but in retrospect that was silly. Why would her dad, who has a boyfriend, have a problem with her liking girls? She walked over to him and kissed his forehead.

“Thanks daddy! See ya!” She rushed out the door. She couldn’t wait to get this trick going! She’s been practicing all week!

Maya didn’t usually put on make-up. Just wasn’t her style. Not today though! She’s got a hot date with a certain detective! She’s gotta look her best! Shouldn’t matter that it takes her thirty minutes just to put on lipstick! She got it eventually, but she’s gonna have to explain why her chin has a bunch of red smudge marks. Before moving on, she took a quick look in the mirror. Man, she looked good! That black dress she always wears for special occasions looks great on her! Good thing too, since it’s the only fancy clothes she has in her closet. She took one last look in the mirror before heading off. As she went outside, she saw her cousin Pearl on the front porch, who jumped when Maya opened the door.

“M-Mystic Maya!” Pearl uttered in shock. She was holding a palette and nearly pinned her back against the canvas she was standing near.

“Pearly! Everything alright?” Maya recoiled.

“Y-yeah! Everything is fine! I’m just... painting is all.” Pearl replied. Maya tried to look behind her.

“What are you pa-”

“NOTHING!!!” Pearl shouted. Maya raised her eyebrow. Pearl isn’t usually this secretive about what she paints.

“... Okay. I uh, I’m on my way to a date! I’ll see you later Pearly!” Maya responded.

“Okay! Bye!! Have fun!” Pearl anxiously replied. Maya was curious as to what Pearl was doing, but she didn’t have time to think about it. She was already five minutes late, and she needed to get going.

Twenty minutes passes, and Trucy arrives at the Kurain Village. She knocks on the main hall’s door and it’s answered by Pearl.

“Hi Pearly!” exclaims Trucy, wrapping her arms around Pearl and hugging her tight.

“Trucy! What are you doing here?” Pearl asked, returning the hug.

“I wanted to show you a magic trick,” Trucy said with a cheeky smile, “I’ve been working on it for weeks!” Trucy pulls out her magic panties. Pearl got excited! Trucy counted to three, and with the flick of a wrist, there was a paper heart in her hands.

“Wow!” Pearl raised her hand to cover her mouth, which hung open in shock.

“That’s not all!” Trucy said with a wink. With another flick, the paper heart disappeared, and in its place, a heart shaped box of chocolates.

“Oh my goodness! That was amazing Trucy!” Pearl exclaimed.

“For you, my lovely!” Trucy cooed, handing the box to Pearl.

“Oh,” Pearl took the box from her, looking at it in surprise, “Trucy… I-”

“And that’s not all!” Trucy reached into her magic panties, and out came a single red rose, which in a single hand movement, became three.

“Also for you!” She handed Pearl the roses, whose face was red and uncontrollably smiling.

“Trucy! This is so sweet!” Pearly responded. Trucy smiled in response. She’s always had a crush on Pearl. Ever since they met. She just never acted on it until now, and it looks like her plan was a success!

“Actually… I have something for you!” Pearl quipped.

“You do?” asked Trucy. Pearl nodded. “Follow me!”

She followed Pearl to a small room in the back of the main hall. She recognized it as Pearl’s room, since the two have had countless sleepovers there. She noticed a rectangular item in the room’s corner. Pearl set down Trucy’s gifts and picked up the rectangle.

“I um… I made this for you!” Pearl turned the rectangle over to reveal a painting of a girl wearing an outfit similar to Trucy’s. There are hearts around the girl, and crude writing that read, “For my special someone”.

“Sorry I’m not the best artist. I still have a lot to go…”

“Pearly! This is amazing!” Trucy stared speechless at the painting. Sure it wasn’t spectacular, but it meant so much to her! No one have ever dedicated anything to her like this! And… special someone??? Does Pearl mean what Trucy thinks she means???

“Th-thank you! You can keep it, if you want…” Pearl responded, handing Trucy the painting.

“I’ll treasure it forever!” Trucy exclaimed. Pearl raised her hands to cup her face and blushed. Trucy walked over and kissed her on the cheek.

“Happy Valentines day Pearly.”
