Not Alone
Accompanied by his hyung, pacing around the big waiting room was one Kim Namjoon, the tall adorable bride who would soon walk up the aisle in matter of time.
Marriage. The word felt so lovely to his tongue, tasted so sweet to his dream, and made him feel so glad that he didn't want to ruin it.
Didn't want to ruin it.
He had to be careful. He shouldn't make any mistake. He couldn't destroy this. It had to run smoothly. It had to be perfect.
“Namjoon-ah, stop that.” A gruff voice called from the sofa and that made Namjoon turned to the blue haired male laying on his side on the sofa with his hand propping up his head.
Frowning at the wrinkles which had accumulated on the dark blue suit from the amount of time and positions the elder had while laying down there, Namjoon sighed. “I'm nervous, hyung. What if I made a mistake? What if I forget the speech? What if I trip down when I walk? What if..”
“Yayayaya.” Giving uninterested look at the tall man, Yoongi laid back down as he took out his phone and started tapping lazily on it. “Just sit down. You don't want to ruin that dress, do you?”
Looking at the long white dress he wore and also the long lacy white gloves, Yoongi was right. He shouldn't ruin this beautiful dress which his friends had chosen carefully for him.
Namjoon raised his hands in exasperation only to get Yoongi say again. “Stop messing up the veil. With your generous ability, it may tear sooner or later.”
Right. Don't tear it, Namjoon.
“Hyung…” Whining at the obviously not a compliment, Namjoon moved to the white padded stool in the middle of the room.
Raising the gown along with the petticoat a bit before sitting down, Namjoon pouted. “Why do I have to wear dress? Can't I just wear the white tux?”
Yoongi was silence when looking at him with his infamous no-fuck-given expression. “If you expected me to answer that question for the twentieth time..”
Rolling his eyes, Namjoon interrupted knowingly. “Yeah, you won't answer. Just ignore it.”
“Good.” Nodding his head, Yoongi moved around a bit until he got into comfortable position for another chance of nap.
A sharp knock on the door altered Namjoon’s attention who once again biting his lip in the silence of the room.
“Joonie hyung!” Jimin’s voice chirped in as soon as the door opened. And following the voice, Namjoon saw Jimin closing the door and then walked toward him. “Ah.. He has already asleep again?” Jimin chuckled when he spotted Yoongi on the sofa, waving his hand which held a phone to a confused Namjoon. “He told me to accompany you here.”
Namjoon, now you made other people worry. Stop that.
Bringing a chair in front of Namjoon, Jimin sat there and held onto the elder’s gloved hands. “Hyung, there is something I want to tell you.” He started almost seriously that Namjoon held his breath back in expectation. Did something happened? Was there any trouble? Namjoon almost scared to think further until he saw Jimin’s smile stretched wide. “You look amazing.”
Completely not expecting it, Namjoon’s eyes opened wider before closing as he laughed at that. “Thank you.” He replied genuinely, while trying to stop his laughter.
“How is everything?” Namjoon asked and Jimin could easily take what the other meant.
“It's good and everything's perfect. We are more than ready to welcome the guests.” Clasping his hands on Namjoon’s hand, Jimin smiled softly. “Don't worry, hyung.”
Thanks to Jimin’s amazing way of calming him, the tense of the hectic morning eased a lot before the knock on the door caught the two talking men and also the sleeping man’s attention. Barging into the room excitedly was Taehyung with his super excited grin. “The photographer is here!” He announced aloud as he stepped into the room, followed by Jungkook and three men who brought several necessities for their work that day.
As the three men set up all the lightning, camera, laptop and printer; Taehyung with his own beloved camera started taking pictures of Namjoon. “You look great, hyung!” The younger said as he confidently did a squat, uncaring that the action might create wrinkles and folding creases on his suit to get the perfect angle to capture Namjoon’s happiness.
Smiling fondly at him, Namjoon turned a little to meet Jungkook. “Kookie, where is Jin?” He asked, hand holding the bouquet carefully as if it might break under his caresses.
“Jin-hyung is with your parents, making sure everything is ready for the guest.” The youngest reported to the bride while chuckling. “It seems, he is more nervous now than the ceremony this morning. He even asked the same question twice or thrice.”
“Really?” Namjoon raised his brow, surprised that Jin acted like that, yet he still maintained the affectionate smile he held as he followed Taehyung’s movement around him. “Maybe it was because this one is more public. His parents’ colleagues will attend this party. I would be lying if I say that I’m not nervous.”
“We’re ready here.” The photographer said, sending the five men to turn at them. “Who want to take photo with the bride first?” As if on cue, the four all moved at the same time standing beside Namjoon.
“Yaah! Go away! I want to be the first!”
“You have taken lot of pictures with Joonie hyung this morning! Why don’t you stand beside the photographer and took the photo instead?”
“Since I’m the maknae, I have the right to be the first one.”
“Don’t you know the oldest should go first?”
As the four bickered with each other, Namjoon could only shrugged his shoulder when the photographer looked at him questioningly. They would just let them bickered, they have lot of time before the party started anyway. That’s what he thought until another set of knock cut the bickering to a stop.
“Look, who come first!” Hoseok exclaimed with that sunny smile which made them getting curious to see who stood behind Hoseok.
“Namjoon, your best friends is here.” Jin said after Hoseok, stepping inside with Jackson and Jiho who couldn't attend the morning ceremony, grinning at them.
After Jackson and Jiho took picture with him, their friends one by one spilling into the waiting room and stole the chance to take picture with Namjoon, a bit hindering the four who wanted to take several pictures. And they still bickered about not getting enough photos taken after Jin and Hoseok left the room with all the remaining guests as it was time for the party to start.
“We will wait for you in the hall!” Jimin claimed, holding the door open as he waved at Namjoon.
“We? Don't lump me in with the like of you guys..” Yoongi sneered as he walked out of the room, leaving the other three behind.
“Hyung!” the three of the maknae line of their group shouted outside before looking back at Namjoon again who was now accompanied by his parents. “See you soon, hyung!”
With a slight hand wave from Namjoon, the three left and kept the door opened as there was no use in keeping it closed.
“Shall we go now?”
Looking at his father and mother who smiled happily at him, Namjoon nodded and shyly held onto his father’s arm.
The party ran with no accident nor mistake Namjoon had uselessly worried about. He walked pretty gracefully halfway up the aisle toward the awaiting Jin who despite the large smile on his face was obviously also as nervous as him inside. During the party, Namjoon also didn’t trip nor said something wrong.
Sudden surge of happiness almost made him broke into tears when the video of the ceremony when they said their vow to each other played inside the hall. He held Jin’s hand tightly and he felt Jin did the same.
When the recording showed Jin slipped the ring on his finger, his feeling exploded and all melted down in the form of tears. A cheer from their guests made him looked down shyly when Jin in the video opened his veil slowly, yet the chuckle and the cooing Jin did, prompted Namjoon to bring his gaze up meeting the elder and smiling back at him.
Stealing a kiss when all guest’s attention was still captivated by the video, Namjoon kept his gaze connected to Jin.
It was not his idea. Namjoon thought as he moved stiffly with Jin leading him around the white stage outlined by endless row of white roses. The romantic melody wasn't able to infiltrate the chaotic mess of his brain as he -in his clumsy panic state- tried to figure out which foot should go where according to the rhythm of classic waltz. Hiding his unhappy expression from everyone, Namjoon tried to calm himself by telling his panic mind to not get worry too much because the dress he wore helped in obstructing the guests to know what happened.
When Namjoon stepped on Jin’s white shoes for the third time, he would have flinched away if not for the hold the elder had around him. Muttering another sorry, Namjoon bit his lips in distress, wondering why he couldn't get it right even after hundred hours of practicing with Jimin and Hoseok.
“Joonie-ah.” Jin called him. And worriedly looking up at the elder, Namjoon responded with a weak response. “Yeah?”
The older groom smiled so wide at Namjoon as he swayed the two of them to the smooth rhythm, following the graceful melody of their love. “I love you.”
“What.. Why so sudden?” Sputtering in embarrassment, Namjoon looked down and hid his red face from his husband’s sight, but that was failed attempt as with their little height difference, Jin could still see some part of his face.
Chuckling softly, Jin enclosed their gap and pushed Namjoon flushed to his torso, letting the younger to hide his face on his shoulder. “Joonie-ah.” he started again. “Thank you for letting me to lead you through this everlasting dance of our marriage. I will do my best for you.”
Namjoon needed nothing else after hearing those words from Jin. He wasn’t alone anymore, Jin had come into his life and stayed with him. He had Jin beside him and as long as he was there, Namjoon didn't need to worry.
Clutching onto the elder, he smiled against the white fabric of Jin’s tuxedo. He didn't care if his makeup was ruined -the makeup should be waterproof- or if it stained the pristine color of that suit or how he might had stumbled again in his dance. All he really cared was how he and Jin would live and fulfill a happy life as a family.
