Work Text:

Taehyung looked at the golden watch on his wrist again and sighed. Another minute had gone by and the supposed 'genius' boy was late. To his own house. Namjoon looked like he was getting even more anxious as well, gripping his phone tighter and almost death glaring at the texts. With everything he'd seen at the Jeon's home he wasn't too shocked that he was late. The only reason he came to this rich kid's home was because Namjoon had insisted that he was a genius and his presence would be an incredible investment to the company built by a young Kim Taehyung.

"He's late. And no offense hyung but this kid isn't impressing me." He looked at his brother who just shrugged. "I don't care if he's got an IQ like yours. He's late. Looking at his parent's apartment that he still lives in at the age of 20, it's far too evident that he's nearly completely codependent on his parents. He's a slob, he left approximately fourteen items of clothing across the room despite his knowledge of professional business coming over. For fuck's sake, Namjoon he left his laptop open, every tab open, every secret exposed. Windows, both electronic and physical are left open and just airing out everything we don't need to know." Taehyung was standing now, pointing at every flaw he could find in the room and his voice got a little louder every word. "Unless he is this 134 IQ wielding, genius, business managing prodigy then he is not getting the job." He growled, pulling his phone out of his suit jacket with a sigh.

"147." He heard from behind him, the voice not much higher pitched than him. A sudden turn put him face to face with the beautiful, but young, boy. He looked posh and sleek, hair combed off to one side and his dark wide eyes staring down at him. He looked oddly put together and he pointed down at the clothes the CEO had pointed out so bluntly only seconds earlier. "14 items of clothing laid out in the order I wished to specifically draw your attention to. An Armani tie. An entire Gucci 3-piece suit laid out. Put there to draw attention to the worth and wealth of them, the supposed carelessness of leaving it out." He shrugged. "I can replace them if I must." Before his future boss could even try to argue he was moving on. "Tabs left open. On purpose. Shows openness and lack of need of privacy. Each tab was designed to show specific interests. The stock market. My email account. My twitter."

"Jung-" Namjoon started but the kid held a finger up, moving now to point it at Taehyung.

"As for your initial impression of complete codependency that is nearly 95% false. When I turned 13 I invested in stocks. I've made nearly 100 thousand dollars from that over the last seven years. Take one look at my bank account and you can tell that I am only here by choice. After turning 15 I graduated high school and completed a master's degree in Business and another in Accounting by 18. My IQ was 147 as of four years ago." He said simply, shaking his head. "Namjoon-hyung, thank you for waiting so long." He said in a more polite tone, reaching out to shake the older Kim's hand. "Taehyung-ssi, I understand if you don't wish for me to work at your company after that. It simply irks me when brilliancy is unnoticed. The specificity is unseen." He said, not meeting his eyes.

"This is why I brought him up, Tae." Namjoon said with a grin. "Did you see that? Incredible. Get him to look at those files, the ones Yoongi said had some minor discrepancies, the ones it took him a day to find and it'll take him an hour. I've known him since Jin met him five years at one of his lectures. Kid corrected him. He could correct a professor on stats without ever taking a college level class. According to Jin, FBI's been trying to recruit him even. Wants him in the BAU. Kid said it'd be too easy." Namjoon looked far too proud of this guy, as if he had helped all this somehow. Taehyung was, despite his disliking for the evident attitude problem, impressed. Jeongguk was a Type A child prodigy that turned out right for once. The type of people recruited into his company. But this softness from his older brother was odd. He didn't often have this type of gentleness, minus with his boyfriend and family of course, leaving the over analytical CEO to realize this wasn't just a chance meeting. His brother had found the perfect CFO for the company, the perfect stock manager, the perfect anything.

"And the approximate fourteen minutes of tardiness? A one-timer and a ploy to draw all the attention to your brains?" Taehyung asked, voice haughty. He just rolled his eyes when his brother shot him an exasperated look. He hated how he was being presented as the enemy when he was just looking out for his own business.

"No." Jeongguk said and the first human emotion showed, a rose flush blooming along his nose and cheeks. "My friend and I were ice skating earlier. I left later than I meant to." Taehyung let an honest emotion strike him in the form of joy. He smiled, small and simple, before he walked forward and gripped Jeongguk's chin in his.

"You're cute kid. But don't think tardiness is acceptable." When the sudden joy split across the younger boys face Taehyung knew he would regret this. He was gorgeous and looked to be carved from stone with a personality ranging from this insanely intellectual kid with a need to prove himself to the cute goofy kid that he was sure his personal assistant Jimin would say makes him a perfect 'baby boy'. "At KTH Enterprises, you're going to be incredibly social, despite the smaller numbers at our company. The newest gala that we're holding is four weeks from now. Get a suit, my assistant Park Jimin will come with and make sure it looks perfect." He flinched when the boy practically squeezed him into a hug, this hge grin on his face.

"Thank you, Taehyung-ssi." He said, grinning before he was back away from Taehyung and standing in front of Namjoon who looked ecstatic.

"Tae." He said quietly when Jeongguk was going to tell his parents, causing his younger brother to look at him. "Thank you. Jin's going to be very proud of you." Taehyung rolled his eyes, taking off his suit jacket, and lazily tossing it over his shoulder. "Where are you going? I was going to invit-"

"Hyung. I love you and everything, but I have business. Tell Jeongguk to call me tomorrow morning to discuss work hours and when he's starting." He hated being the bad guy, hated how Namjoon's face dropped a little at the prospect of another late night at the office for his brother and so he hastily continued, "At the gala, or after I suppose, we can all get shitfaced if that's what you want. It's nothing against Jin or you." He said, boxily smiling at him before he turned and walked out.

The sight of Jeongguk speaking inaudibly to a picture of his mother almost stopped him. Almost.

The next morning, when Jeongguk trudged in from Namjoon's place, he stopped at the lavender flowers sitting on his door stop. He bent to pick them up, fingering at the white paper tucked inside it. He drew it out, unfolding it as he unlocked the door. His dad must've been at work already. He made a mental note to make sure they had enough food to last the week. As he read the note, a blush and smile arose at the same time.

'your mother would be beyond proud of your intellect and investments. xxx-xxx-xxxx. call when you wanna talk ~ taehyung'

-

When Taehyung's phone started ringing at two am the next night he didn't even hesitate with picking up, reaching over and slamming onto the answer button. He didn't hear something immediately and so he sat up, rolling onto his stomach to look at his phone he had haphazardly put on speaker. An unknown number. He swallowed, sitting up more and clearing his throat. He had to make sure if this was a business call, for some reason, he handled it properly.

"You've reached Kim Taehyung, CEO of KTH Enterprises, may I ask who's calling and why?" He asked curtly, voice low and rumbling before he heard a soft snort from across the home. He raised an eyebrow, looking at the number again. "Hello?" He asked in confusion, tilting his head as he sat up a little more.

"Taehyung-ssi?" He heard a few minutes later when he was almost passed out again. "Sorry, I didn't mean to call so late- or early- but I was just... I wanted to talk to somebody." Jeongguk sounded like hell, his voice hoarse and upset. "I just, I know this isn't professional, you're my boss. I'm s-sorry."

"Shut up. Why are you crying?" Taehyung said, semi-abrasively considering, but it made his newest genius just sniffle a little laugh.

"I think I'm high. I went to this club with Joonie-hyung, right? We're having a good time and Jin-hyung is dancing and then they're both just gone! Poof!" He sniffled and Tae could picture him just sleepily rubbing at his eyes. "So I thought, Joon and Jin like to sneak off, I bet they're in the alley. They were there last time! So I go and they aren't but there's this really nice guy, he's got like black hair and like he's Asian," the things this boy thinks are necessary, "and he says he doesn't know where they are but I should calm down. And I don't get it so he just hands me his blunt and I'm over here like, ooooo! and I took a hit and it was really good so I kept doing it and the guy was giggling so I thought I must've been a comedian in a past life, right?"

"Right, of course. I see it, don't worry." Taehyung reassured, smiling to himself as he rolled onto his back to listen more fond now.

"Exactly! So I say that and then Jin and Joonie-hyung are bursting in and they're like 'yoooo what the fuck did you do jackson?" and this kid kind of shrugged and took back his blunt. Now I'm in my apartment but I don't want to be alone and I saw your flowers so I thought 'hey i'll call my boss!'" He laughed loudly into the phone and Tae winced slightly.

"Cute." He said softly, sitting up a little. "Facetime me instead, I want to see your face." He said gently and heard a little 'oof' on the other line before his phone started ringing for a Facetime call instead. The quick connection made Tae laugh softly because Jeongguk looked so soft and sleepy, his head propped up against the same arm holding his phone. His eyes were nearly closed and his hair was very messy. "Hey darling. Feel okay?" He didn't even bat an eye at the pet name that made Jeongguk flush reddish.

"I'm so good Taehyung-hyung." He let this cute little giggle out at his words, dropping his head a little. "That's such a mouthful. Hyung hyung, hyung hyung." He giggled again before he looked up. "Can I just call you Taehyung instead? Please Mr. Bossman." Tae laughed to himself and nodded, shaking his head a little.

"Aish. Aren't you too young to drink anyways?" He said in a repaminding tone and watched the younger get redder. "I knew it. My idiot brother let you have as much alcohol as you want, didn't you? He just let you drink yourself numb." He grumbled, shaking his head. "All you had to do was pout when he tried to grab the drink, idiot." He grumbled. Almost trying to show off the named pout, Jeongguk let himself pout, a little grin rising at his bosses groan.

"Do you think I'm pretty Tae?" Jeongguk said quietly, giggling at him. "You think I'm so pretty, don't you? I'm just trying to figure out if you only hired me because I'm cute." He said, pouting in this cute little way again. "It's happened. My old boss went out with me before he fired me. That's not what you're going to do, right? Joonie said you were adding me to your genius squad."

"I am. And I will not. You're too smart to waste the talent on a few dates." Instantly Jeongguk just sat up a little more, rubbing his eyes sleepily. There were little tears in his eyes, looking upset now. "Hey, hey, hey angelface look at me. Why are you crying?" He said in confusion. He seemed to be just tearing up and letting his nose get stuffed up as he sniffled.

"You don't think I'm pretty!" He said in this soft whine, rubbing his eyes in distress. "You think I'm ugly, don't you!" He whined, bursting into these little sobs. Taehyung sat up fast, shaking his head in worry. "T-Taehyung-hyung why don't you think I'm pretty?" HE wailed, rubbing his eyes.

"No, no, no, no angel! I think you're so pretty, don't cry, come on. I'm just not going to hit it and quit it. You're important to the company." He said fast, shaking his head. "You're absolutely stunning, just stop crying." He said fast and frightened. Jeongguk opened his eyes to look at him in wonder.

"You think I'm really pretty?" Tae just nodded fast, looking so alarmed. "I think you're pretty too! I thought for sure that you would hate me, you seemed so mad that I was late!" He said, looking so sorrowfully happy with the tears and snot down his face. He smiled cheerily, rubbing his eyes.

The two talked another hour before Taehyung watched him practically fall over asleep. Most people would've shut off the call but instead he moved his phone to prop on his bedside table. It took him a few minutes of just listening to Jeongguk's snores before he fell asleep.

--

That morning, Taehyung woke up to the sound of singing. He looked around in confusion, wondering if he'd forgotten to kick out a one-night-stand, before he looked at the phone. The call was on, time clocking at nearly seven hours now and instead of ruining that, he got up, walked out of frame, and changed into clothes for work. He messed with his hair before he went back to lounge on the bed, stretched out lazily and waiting for Jeongguk's return to the view. Needless to say, twenty minutes later when Jeongguk returned with wet hair and pulling on some bougie loose shirt he was surprised.

"Late for work on your first day. Mister Jeon, I should have you fired." The CEO said breezily, glancing when he heard the sputtering from the phone. "Hungover?" He said simply, tilting his head as he watched how the boy just flushed and stumbled for words. "Doesn't really matter to me. Meet me at the office in half an hour. Bring coffee. Surprise me." He said simply, smirking at him before he reached over to hang up on the call. There was a quiet sputter of a sorry before Taehyung left the room, the house, and just drove to work.

29 minutes on the dot, in came jogging Jeongguk. He carried two coffees, holding one out for Taehyung as he swept past desks in favor of nearly crashing into the boss. A cracked lid revealed a sweet smelling, overly sugared drink, that he wasn't mad about. Instead he just looked up, turning on his heel and waving him to follow.

"Your desk is going to be near Jimin and Yoongi. It means I'm putting you in charge of stopping those two from slacking or having sex at work." He said, rolling his eyes when he turned the corner. Jeongguk almost slammed into his back but froze more at the sight. Two boys were at the back desk, one sitting on it and giggling like an absolute angel whilst the other had his head low and was talking lowly in this lilting tone. "Yoongi!" The older said in a strict tone but the blonde just turned with a raised eyebrow.

"That's hyung to you, bigshot." He drawled slowly, tone heavy. He did move from the PA's legs to be sitting in the desk chair and staring with nearly closed eyes. "New kid? The one Namjoon wouldn't stop talking up?" Jimin, as Jeongguk assumed, slid off the desk easily, grinning.

"You're Jeongguk?" He said with a soft little tone as he held his hand out. "Park Jimin. I'll be doing your suit fitting over the next few days." He said cheerily, shaking the boy's hand firmly before he too took a seat, this one at the desk across from Yoongi.

"First day. Be nice to the boy, he was up all night." Taehyung said and without an explanation, turned and walked to his desk.

Jeongguk didn't see him all day, just the silhouette of a pretty young boy through the office windows, according to Jimin that were usually not drawn like they were today. Usually, Hoseok, who had slid into the desk across from the newest members, claimed that Taehyung would wander the halls and talk to his entire office and ensure they were all comfortable.

Jeongguk, as the day passed, missed the boy. He wanted to see him, wanted to talk to him, just wanted to make sure there wasn't any reason his office was closed off. He wanted to try and help but he couldn't. So at six o'clock when everybody got up and started to leave, Jeongguk chose to stay at his desk and wait for the curtains to be opened. When they did there was a mild sense of worry left with the few employees still in there.

"Taehyung-hyung!" He called out, far too loud for the empty rooms. The boy turned, looking tired. "Taehyung-hyung. Are you okay?" He said with a tilted head as he approached. His boss stared, looking confused and mildly amused.

"You waited on me?" He asked quietly, smiling at him. "I'm okay. I had a lot of serious business and contracts to do." He said softly, climbing onto the edge of a desk to sit close to him. "Why'd you wait on me?" He asked softly, smiling at him.

"Wanted to see you." He mumbled, flushing a bright reddish color. "I was thinking, I wanted to go to this café for dinner and then I was also thinking if you were up to it we could totally go out clubbing or something." He flushed brighter, looking away. Taehyung laughed quietly, flushed this pretty red color and nodded a little.

"I would love to." He said softly, smiling at him. "Especially the dinner thing." He said with a nice little laugh that made Jeongguk turn redder. "You look like a tomato, angelface. Take a deep breath and hold my hand. We can walk, right?"

---

The boys went to dinner together that night, they went to dinner the next night, they went the next week in a row and two more weeks after that. Everynight the boys would leave the office whilst holding hands and just talking quietly, and every morning Jimin would make fun of his boss for the way he would flush and laugh and flirt so shamelessly for the younger boy.

Now it was four weeks after Jeongguk got hired and four weeks of nightly dinners at a small café where they would share low spoken secrets and high giggles across a table. The two were closer now, they were happy. Now, he was sitting at his desk whilst Taehyung flitted across the room and all he could think was that Taehyung was gorgeous, he was absolutely infatuating, and just how how could he look so absolutely beautiful at work.

"Jeongukkie!" He cheerfully exclaimed, stumbling over himself to come and sit on his desk. "I was hoping you would want to go to dinner again tonight! I was thinking maybe I could bring you food and we could eat with your dad. You said he was off work tonight, right? So I was thinking about grabbing some kimchi-jjigae and bringing it on over." He said excitedly.

Jeongguk nodded, smiling at him. "Of course." He said quietly. Taehyung was still talking but he couldn't focus when he looked so gorgeous and excited about life. He reached up when his fringe fell into his face and brushed it back, listening to how his breathing stuttered and fluttered into this lapse of confusion. "You look amazing today." He said softly, messing with the strands in his hair.

"J-Jeongguk-ah!" He giggled and flushed brightly, head ducking adorably. "Yah, I'm your boss!" He reached to fiddle with his hair, teasing up his hair. "If you weren't so pretty I'd file an HR report!" He cheerily exclaimed. He glanced at the clock. One minute. "Hey. I drove the Audi R8 today. Wanted to see how you looked in an expensive car." He said with a grin.

"What, you think I'm pretty when I drive?" He asked in a teasing tone as the clock struck six and people started packing their things up. He stood up from his chair to stand between Taehyung's legs.

"Not pretty!" He exclaimed, grinning as he slipped off the desk to be far too close to his employee with so many people around. "I think you're ravishing when you drive." He said in a lower timbre than usual before he grabbed his wrist and started pulling him to the elevator. The wickedness in that tone was enough to shake the youngest into silence and he let himself be led to the car without any questions. He was enthralled by the honesty and just stood as the doors shut. "You know, Jeonggukkie. I've been thinking. We have like half-an-hour to hang out before your dad comes home and so we can hang out out by one of the parks." He said with a grin, laughing lowly. "Let's go driving, yeah?" He said turning back to him. "Or we can go up to the empty floor of the parking garage." He said, pulling him up to his car to unlock it. He tossed the keys at Jeongguk, who moved back and let them drop before he bent down to grab them. He walked back over to the other side and got in easily, putting the keys in and turning it.

"Come on, angel, drive." He teased, smirking at him as he leaned back in his own seat and watched how Jeongguk ignited in the movements of a driver. He pulled the car out, going up to the ramp to slowly pull past the opening gates to the 'reserved' parking lot. He looked even more intense as he just moved to be making sharp turns around the empty lot. He finally just pulled in the middle of the spots, parking. Before a word could be spoken, Jeongguk flicked back his hair and let out this absolutely irresistible groan.

"I love having a rich friend." He whispered, unbuckling and opening the door to get out and got out, throwing his head back again and shouting. "Kim Taehyung!" He shouted into the emptiness.

His boss got out after him, quietly walking up behind him and taking his hand. Jeongguk looked at him, looking suddenly flustered, before Taehyung shoved him towards the hood of the car. He grinned widely, walking after him. He laced his fingers into his hair, pulling him harshly to his face, lips clashing in a war of sorts. Teeth knocked against teeth and eyes shut tightly as the two kissed like their lives were ending, despite this being the first time they'd ever even tried something like this. The guttural groan rolled through Tae's mouth as he just kept with this harsh kiss, pushing him down against the hood, pinning him between his knees. He practically had Jeongguk laid out under him onto the hood, pulling back to just sigh lowly.

"I've wanted to do that since I gave you a job interview." He breathed out, making the other boy laugh and pull him back down to kiss him again, this one a more soft one. "Date me. I wanna take you everywhere." He mumbled in between softer kisses, in between tugs of his hair. "I've been taking you on dates for four weeks, you're just too oblivious to notice." He grumbled, making the younger laugh.

"Maybe I was just taking it slow." He mumbled, leaning up to brush his lips against his own.

"Maybe I was getting tired of you taking it slow." He challenged, smirking when he kissed him again.

"Maybe I was waiting for you to speed it up." He retorted and that banter continued for maybe an hour more before the boys did go and get dinner for Jeongguk's father, where they had to explain the hickeys covering his son's neck and the blooming one under his new boyfriend's jaw.

Jeongguk, for all his IQ was worth, was still an idiot with what his boyfriend wanted and when 147 weeks of dating had passed it all clicked that he wanted to live with his boyfriend and so he moved in. He didn't leave suits laying out on purpose or tabs purposely open, he just let the domesticity of their lives surround them.

They were happy like that for years and only seven years after they first started dating they got engaged. One more year and then marriage.

Finally, 147 months from the day Taehyung first walked into Jeongguk's parents apartment, the two started a family with the adoption of boy and girl twins, Youngjin and Jiyong.
