Chapter Text
[Prologue]
My training began when I was 7 years old.
I was the Heiress of the Hyuga Clan,
The Eldest Daughter of Hiashi,
Being raised to one day inherit the responsibility of the Family Head.
The problem was that I was too weak,
My body.... frail.
Much to everyone's distaste.
It didn't matter that I was young.
Only, but a child still....
With the potential to learn and grow stronger with time and age.
My younger sister, Hanabi,
Who was only 2 at the time,
Showed a much more promising ability than me.
Despite the five year difference,
It was decided that she was worth more of their effort, affection and time.
When I turned 10, Hanabi was 5.
As I was not living up to the Clan's expectations,
Our Father decided for us to have a duel,
The winner - Will become the Official Head,
And the looser - Promptly disavowed.
Because I didn't wish to bring harm upon my cherished sibling,
Nor did I wish such cruelty upon her,
I intentionally neglected to defend myself to my fullest extent.
I let her win.
The resulting factor was - I'd lost.
The disapproving gleam in my Father's eyes did not go unseen,
I knew in an instant,
That I would no longer be acceptable in his eyes,
No matter what I chose to do from here on out.
A year passed after that,
I was the family outcast....
The clan treated me differently.
They no longer looked to me in pride,
They hid their true feelings behind masks of false smiles.
When outsiders were around - they acted like nothing changed,
Once we were out of direct sight - cruel reality bared its two-faced head.
They said I'd never amount to anything.
They told me that I was worthless; pathetic.
The only reason I'm allowed to remain here is because of my Father's position.
And even that's barely holding on by a thread.
If I had been anyone else's child,
I'd of been cast aside a long time ago.
If not for the fact that my Father is the head of the Main House,
I probably would of never gotten a second glance.
Sometimes I wonder -- If it wouldn't of been better....
To of been completely cast aside.
Not just by my Clan,
But by my Father.
My cousin Neji too,
He despised me even before I was tossed away.
I can't decide which one is worse,
Neji's fierce hatred....
Or Father's cold disappointment.
Often times I find,
That within the compounds walls,
I feel suffocated,
Claustrophobic.
I need to escape,
To get out,
Gather enough space around me to breathe.
And then....
That was when I'd met HIM.
